The posts there are side effects of the announcement at Evesterdam, to control out of context messages people had been seeing.
A dev blog is coming.

Then they need to invest in making this forum mobile friendly and design a new community platform that integrates multiple types of communication. Last time they tried (with this version of the forum and eve gate) it was a spectacular failure, so presumably there's a reason it's on a backburner at the moment. Using reddit looks to be the cheapskate option for the time being, and in all fairness announcements have been issued across multiple platforms for a while now (twitter, the o7 show, facebook). It's a tricky one though, and I can understand why people are annoyed at being so transparently pushed onto r/eve by CCP.
A short term solution might be to issue announcements on twitter then have an auto feed here (like the new eden link bot) to pull through crossplatform posts/comments from devs.

No. The main, short time, long term, most important and only solution is to use their own damn forums. I'm sure there's people who are cut off from this forum when at work or other situations but there's probably a good reason for that. In the mean time they're cutting of their actual customers and players by actively choosing to avoid using the official forums.

I have multiple installs so I can have multiple client setups for each account I run. I am hoping I can still do something similar with this.
Examples
One install has it so all the accounts are configured identically and I use it for when I box eve in windowed mode.
Another install I have setup for when I run a low number of full screen clients.
The last install is a test install where I test window setups and custom window configurations per character for specific uses.
If there's a way to manage the window/chat/etc setup for each character and have a choice when logging in that would be fantastic.

Realistically though. You could shut down the official forums altogether and use Reddit instead. Compared to Reddit, eve-o is a step above its own corporation section. You know, the one no one can seem to make work for their own corp or alliance. Most players would probably enjoy the Reddit chaos with its lack of topic categories.

There's no point in "hyping" mechanics on some forum for marketing reasons. There is no point in not using the main/official forums to drop the first info on said mechanics.

What you state is kind of silly actually. Showing a picture of a new launcher is not going to bring in new players, because it has nothing to do with actual gameplay. Have you ever bought a game because of its neat launcher?.
So from a marketing point of view that picture could (and should) be put here for the current customers in order to keep those customers.

Reddit allows anybody who can type and has a fair amount (from what I have seen) of ex players who want validation for their own departure from the game in convincing others to join them. CCP counters with 'future so bright I gotta wear shades' in the same venue.
Me? I look here and there and try to keep current on who said what and would love if there was a central depository but different courses for different horses.

I made this very argument on Podside a few weeks back. While I can see a certain strategy for doing so - for example: People who do not play anymore can have input as per the discussion and possibly provide refinement ideas to the Devs before officially announcing said items/mechanics/features thus creating them to attract back those who left. That said, those who left don't play anymore and should not have that input and ability to **** on or influence anything, even positively regardless of marketing savvy techniques by using OOG social media because they chose to leave.
I agree that these forums are the official game makers form of communication, or should/used to be and should always be first and foremost. Reddit is ass, tbqfh. |

I do wonder how the beta launcher will be deployed, will it be a separate download, or can we just change a setting in the non-beta launcher to use the beta launcher? anyway it's set for Oct. 5th, today, so I guess we'll find out after downtime here in several hours. |

In true tradition they will outright replace it and people who log in on patch day will have their characters deleted automatically, without the 10 hr wait. It'll be irreversible and 2 months later CCP will make a cool short YT vid about the issue. |

Seems a bit galling to be told I am having issues with EVE due to my use of the EVE.exe, Never had a problem starting EVE using it, not had patching issues, though I do have issues with the so called all singing and dancing new over designed launcher which oddly always seems to screw up everything and anything it touches on.
CCP have always promised (Threatened), players they were going to remove EVE.exe usage, again another attempt by them to homogenize the game utterly, instead they point me to an encyclopedic list of instructions to fix issues with the new launcher when it fails to work correctly yet again,
Only issue I ever had with the EVE.exe was clicking on the thing in the first place.........This is progress????
No wonder players are leaving.
Own nothing, Build nothing, Plan nothing, Just blow it all up, you know it makes perfect sense, Fozzie says so.

Well, it's that they were on Reddit first, but the butthurt is because of CCP Whatsisface telling us to not worry our pretty little heads, he'll post here when he's good and ready.

We're still aiming for today, along with a dev-blog.
To clarify; as it is, the current launcher will not be replaced with the new launcher via an update.
The new launcher is being released for beta testing, and may be run parallel with the current one.
A separate download will be required for the new launcher.

Just from my personal experience, i find that the official eve forums are extremely negative. All i see is threads complaining about plex prices, eve is dieing, and on how bad the CCP devs are. If they post something on reddit, even though there is shitposting on reddit as well, they would be able to get some actual feedback and not just people complaining. |
