Why do you shoot everything that's Not Blue?
Why is it you don't want Nutes in your systems?
Why is it in less your Blue you cant dock at 99% of null stations?
Why do you not have docking fees for Nutes? And Min taxes for Nutes?
Why do you not set Nutes to Red when they agrees you and revoke there docking rights? Then blow the m away?
I guess i don't under stand, why you don't let randoms live in your systems and tax them for living out of your stations, i mean if they mess up and **** on the owners shoes red them and lock them out of the station and pod them back to empire.
I like the goon Free Port idea for null but i don't really like there EVERYONE BUT GOON is free port.
I mean i know why the NPC null space is full of fail theres no one in charge its a FFA zone most of the time and any one can dock at the stations at any time ( no standing lock outs)
Im guessing the reason is They don't want to have to police there systems( even if it would get them more Pew). I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |

This and rules of engagement. If you let nuets into your areas the rules of engagement become a clusterfcuk. Way easier just to shoot anything not blue. |

This and "proving" that the agressor was the neut not the blue is basically impossible. It's hard to keep track of failed ganks, other people will use your station while shooting it when none of the diplos are on...
The list goes on and on.
NRDS doesn't make for safe space to live (in sov space, I could see it [almost] working in NPC space). It also would seem to take away from the idea of creating your own Empire.
And to add to the competing for resources issue, they're freeloading while doing so. The blues helped you take that space, upgrade it, etc. |

It's also much more easy to manage and is clear for everyone involved. The more nuanced the system is, the more work it requires from the upkeeper and the harder it's going to be to keep everyone current on who they can and can't shoot. It's much more preferable to have a small clear list of players you don't shoot and just treat everything else as hostiles. |

NRDS doesn't promote a community or group collaboration. I want my neighbors and people who I share my space with to know who I and my pilots are. NRDS doesn't support this, instead supports space where strange people can come squat on my couch.

Long story short, NRDS means that everyone out there has deal with the administrative trivia of verifying whether or not someone's a friendly neutral, or an unfriendly and future red neutral. NBSI just assumes that whomever hasn't been set blue yet, is in our space to shoot us. This means that all the administrative chores is left to the leadership and usually taken care of in advance, which means everyone else don't have to do this. Their lives are more stress-free. |

I did the NRDS thing while starting out. Nothin' like a neutral noobship piloted by an NPC corp member following your fleets around while defending your space. Or competing with neutrals for resources, only you lose 'em on ships defending the space while they keep on rattin' and mining. Or letting a neutral fleet wander around your space as they take their time to find the juiciest target they can find before 'becoming red'. Or really any and every exploit of a reactive engagement policy you can possibly imagine being used against you.
But yeah, those 50K ISK docking fees, they really cover the 180M monthly cost of the TCU right? |

Same as above question, its a matter of keeping the space you own/worked for free of unwanted guests. Also carebears (pvp alts funding their mains) and indy types (for producing ally ships) don't do their thing very well even when escorted by a pvp element when theres an unknown pilot flying around.

Same as above, even though iskies could be made from them the amount prolly wouldn't justify the hassle of having randoms in your systems.

Why go to so much effort when you can 'blow them away' while they are neutral without having to fiddle with standings for every pilot that shows up? |

1) Neutrals are potential threats.
2) Neutrals are potential threats.
3) Neutrals are potential threats and playing docking games with them while pinging every director/diplomat to set them red isn't fun.
4) Neutrals are potential threats, and nothing would stop them from hauling ore out to empire anyway. Nobody mines in nullsec, they kill rats - we don't want to compete with neutrals for resources in our space.
5) Because we prefer to skip to the chase and kill them, and they are potential threats. |

Alt spies.
Many 0.0 entities already do allow people access to their space. They're called "renters" and they're usually given sovereignty over a small sector of space and protection from the big boys in exchange for fees. A neutral pilot is an unknown quantity. You do not know if this neutral pilot is potentially friendly to you, just passing by, or is a hostile pilot who'll warp scramble you and call in his buddies.
If you were to hold off any engagement until fired upon, you'd be at a severe disadvantage, especially if this neutral pilot has a fleet ready to come in.
Mirima Thurander wrote:Why is it you don't want Nutes in your systems?
For exactly that reason. A neutral pilot could be a hostile pilot trying to warp scramble you, or it could be a scout that is reporting on your every move.
Mirima Thurander wrote:Why is it in less your Blue you cant dock at 99% of null stations?
If they could dock, they could gain valuable intelligence on your operations, as well as gaining a safe haven from attacks. By denying them docking rights, you retain a tactical advantage.
Mirima Thurander wrote:Why do you not have docking fees for Nutes? And Min taxes for Nutes?
Docking fees must be kept relatively low for anyone to pay them. If they are too high, it'd be prohibitively expensive to use said stations, and no one would pay the fees as a result. Yet, even with low docking fees, the volume does not make up for the risk inherent in allowing neutral pilots in your stations.
Mirima Thurander wrote:Why do you not set Nutes to Red when they agrees you and revoke there docking rights? Then blow the m away?
This has been tried by various entities, in the NRDS policy (Not Red, Don't Shoot). The problem with this is that not only are you at a tactical disadvantage during the first engagement, but you're also forced to continuously update a standings list. The fact that it must be manually updated means that any attacker would have a certain window during which they'd be free to do as they wished.
That said, there are some alliances that do operate freeports. You are more than welcome to dock in our stations in Providence, for example.

Ugh, stop being dense.
If you start letting neutrals into your space, it will become worthless to your members very very quickly. No one will be able to mine, rat, run plexes, or really anything; because while some of the neutrals might be benign, the majority will be looking for blood, and the unprotected PVE ships of your members are juicy targets.
So instead of going out of the way to make yourself prey - your alliance becomes hunters. You assume that anyone who isn't an ally is an enemy, so you kill them. Now your members can mine, rat, plex... whatever, without being quickly killed in their own space.
Null is about cooperation and teamwork, especially in player-sov space. If you want the advantages of that space, you're going to have to join a corporation in the alliance that owns that space, otherwise they have no reason to allow you to exist there in peace. If you don't want to join a corporation and work with others, then 0.0 is going to be hard for you. NPC space is probably your best option; but even there everyone who isn't blue is going to try and kill you.
If its PVP you're looking for, then NBSI is at your advantage. How annoying would it be to jump into null and have no one fight you because they haven't set you red yet? You'd be hard pressed to find a fight without shooting a neutral yourself - and if you're fine with shooting neutrals, why should you assume the alliance whose space you're in should play by rules you don't?
The reality is, alliances aren't telling you to to "STAY THE **** OUT" - they're telling you that if you choose to enter their space, expect to be shot at. If you're not okay with that, you can either join them or their allies - or don't expect to go to their corner of New Eden. |

it seams counter productive in getting more people to come to null, you say you want more people out there but then on the other hand your actions clearly say STAY THE **** OUT
We go out hunting to pew. So we *gasp* open the gate, and go to somebody else's gated community, waltz through their wide open gate, and try to kill the people living there. If we were NRDS (per your nutso reasoning), there's a good chance they might be neuts to us, so we'd have to ignore them and go to the next community... still neut?... nurtz, can't shoot them either... keep going. Oh, other side of Eve, no chance they've been set red yet, time to fly back home and wait for a CTA.
That's what would happen if everyone were NRDS. No pew in 0.0
If only some people are NRDS, the NRDS people can never safely rat (or mine) because there's no way to tell a NRDS neut from an NBSI neut. So they never have any isk (or mins) to build fleets to defend their space, so they get shoved down and curbstomped by the NBSI guys, and most likely won't even have the isk to get proper reconstructive dental surgery. And then all you have left in Sov space is NBSI groups.
Hisec is what enforced NRDS looks like. Current 0.0 is what NRDS looks like after a few iterations. |
