When my wife and I first got together she knew upfront that I was a gamer. I bought her an EVE account and got her into the game. Shortly after she got her first Retriever I had two alts suicide gank her, and her pod. She no longer plays EVE but now when I tell her I am busy, let me finish what I am doing and get to a safe spot, she understands why.
She plays her games so she doesn't normally bug me when I am playing mine, however she does have a habit of asking me questions about random bs while I am right in the middle of a fight and then gets mad at me when I tell her to wait. I took to doing that to her when she was playing her game so she knows how much it bugs her. |

This thead... I really enjoy reading up on all your stories. Some people in here have terrible girlfriends/wifes (In my opinion), other's are the luckiest person in the world.
If I were to marry someone I'd make sure that she respects the things I do, and that I can respect his/hear hobbies as well. Otherwise it is doomed to fail... I think. |

Overall, I don't have any real wife aggro about Eve... even if she does refer to it as that other woman. We have a few kids now, and I've been pretty careful to not log in before they go to bed... that helped my wife aggro problems a lot. I also try not to log in before she goes to bed - much to the eternal consternation of my corpmates - but that rule is broken somewhat frequently.
All things considered, she says she'd rather have me home and playing Eve than staying at work late (again), out drinking and partying on the beach, or playing all those video games with "strippers dancing all over the screen". I'm a bit worried about Incarna.

My wife used to hate the fact i played eve till 3 am and complained she wanted me next to her when she slept until one night I got home from work and I was tired and she wasn't and I wouldn't let her leave the bed until she understood if I'm not tired I'm not going to go to sleep. Another thing I did was put her on teamspeak and meet the people I play with and made her feel they really needed me on ops and ctas. She still gets pissed off Occassionally but we just had a baby and she is very tired so I Play more |

I don't suffer from wife agro, but does she watch the soaps on tv ? Or those silly reality shows they seem to put on now a days?
When she watches them just do the same  as she would when you play Eve.
Oh by the way you do know your boss reads these forums and your talking about swinging the lead lol

I'm lucky, my wife knew I was an avid gamer while we were dating. We dated for a rather extended period too, so she had plenty of time to walk away before we got married. These days, it isn't EVE so much that causes the issue. It's work. Being self employed if I'm awake, I'm working. If I'm working at my desk, I'm running both of my miners. If work gets too hard, I tend to get it done and vanish into PvP mode.
The hard part, I often don't realize I haven't spend any time with any member of my family until days have passed. Then she comes unglued, I turn everything off in a huff and try to carve some time out of the day to spend with her.
The kids are another issue, with a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and a 2 month old... depending on which child decides it needs attention and when things can get entertaining. Just the other day I was out on a roam, with an FC that doesn't speak English, was issuing orders in Polish, while I was attempting to scout ahead in my ceptor. Then my wife wanders in, plops the baby in my lap, and I'm trying to take care of him while doing the roam stuff and desperately spamming D-scan to figure out which moon the jump bridge is on that I don't have bookmarked.
I managed to get in on three kills and got home in one piece. Of course it helps that two month old children love color contrast and flashing lights.
The other two kids just climb into my lap and watch until they get bored and wander off. They much prefer me playing TF2. The ultimate child aggro will happen in about a year. When my two month old is large enough to move around on his own, and discovers the wonders of the reset button!  Both the other kids did it, I see no reason why he'll be any different. |
