Do the armor compensation skills apply only to armor hardeners, or do they also confer bonuses to similar modules such as resistance plating or energized plating?
I'm assuming they apply only to the armor hardeners, but would like to be sure.
Thanks in advance.

They onyl work with PASSIVE so they dont apply to hardeners cos u have to activiate the. Dont work with damage controls either.
Main use is with energised adaptive nanos, or teh energised kinetic etc on hacs and the like.

Hmmmm...But the skill description (incorrect, perhaps) specifically mentions them applying to active and inactive armor hardeners. I just want to know if the bonuses extend to modules that aren't hardeners, but which produce similar effects.
Here is description of the Explosive Armor Compensation skill:
"To active armor hardeners: 3% bonus per skill level to Armor Explosive resistance when the modules are not active To passive armor hardeners: 5% bonus per skill level to Armor Explosive resistance"

They have lesser significance with active hardeners, and are generally used for passive energized platings (does anybody even use the non-energized ones?).

They have No significance to Active Hardener in their Active state, but they do in there passive state i.e off.
Otherwise the skills only affect passive hardeners like has been said.
Edit: Oh and yes people do use the non-energized ones, they hardly use any cpu/grid (or none) and the officer ones are sex.

Yes, we do. I'm flying in an Interceptor and don't really have the CPU to fit an EAN. I was lucky finding a True Sansha Plating while ratting with +17.5% adaptive. With my Armor compensation skills, rank 2 of them all, it is now on 19.5%. I'm fine with that :-P

The faction ones are quite nice. They are cheap, and easy to fit.

Apologies for digging out an old topic, but I don't like starting new threads unnecessarily
Is there something bugged with these skills at the moment? I'm only a casual player so I never even knew they existed until 2 days ago, even though I have a 9m SP character. My stock EM resist was 68%, only counting cruiser skills, and even after training the first 2 levels of EM compensation (5% each), it's still at 68%....what gives?

Well for starters, do you have an EM hardener fitted?
The skill boosts the effectiveness of the module, not the overall resist so if you have a Energised Magnetic Membrane (32.5%) with the skill to 2, the module would then have a resist of 35.75%, not a 10% bonus to your EM resist.

I see, I misread it and thought it applied to base stats and not hardeners/other resists. Thanks for the guidance :)

So if I equip things listed as "Energized plating" does that boost my resistance as well ? Or does it just boost my resistance if I use "Armor Hardners" ?
ie I am equipping Energized Adaptive Nano Membranes, do these skills help, or do I need to equip something else ?
(I hate that they describe it has "hardners" when thats a category name. Does it apply to anything, or just the stuff under that category ?!?!)
