/me but on his flame retardant suit
There seems to be a lot of speculation around about BoB setting their sights on D2 after the ASCN campaign is wrapped up. I'm thinking why?
D2 have good infrastructure (outposts etc) but since Revelations their space has dropped in value. D2 space is quite far from BoB's (BoB being in the south West, D2 having most of their ops in the North East) It also lacks access to the new regions, which are apparently ruining high end mineral prices (Drone P**h 4tw). From what i've seen BoB are trying to take the south, but trying to keep control of their own space, the areas of ASCN space they've taken (the south being a constant war-zone) and trying to take on the northern coalition seems stupid. While BoB are "winning" streching thier forces to go after D2 as well can only result in disaster for them. Granted imo half the northern alliances couldn't organise a P***-up in a brewery when they finally rally round each other they can field a good force, but it ain't very well organised.
So i ask why would BoB go after Branch? it holds little strategic value and i think they are busy enough in the south for the next few months (assuming ASCN don't fall apart as many are saying is gonna happen after the loss of their figurehead)
I don't know what BoB or D2 command are planning at present but i don't see any logic behind the speculation of BoB turning their attention to the north until they've finished with the south. RA-Goon / LV space has much better strategic value (anti-clockwise round the map seems better than clockwise to me for BoB)
PS: Look mummy, I started a BoB thread ________________________________

Well, i think it has to do with the ease BoB has been winning conflicts.
They have been doing pretty much the same thing for some time now, they know the ins and outs of it, you could say they have refined it into a science. Unless someone else gets that special something to compete directly with them, they will soon have no real challenge to pursue, so they have to make one themselves if they want to keep their interest in the game.
Don't get me wrong, i don't buy into the unconditional "better than you all" attitude. Sure they are good, but their ships will die under fire like everyone else. The reason they are that good is that they put a lot of time and thought into it, they have found a way that works and they follow it. I'm sure there's countless people who could do just as well or better than them, but most are more casual players. That's the main reason BoB does what it does, they take the game more seriously than most other people. Plus, it's easier for a "serious" gamer to join a "serious" group instead of convincing 99% of his own corp/alliance to, for example, start setting alarm clocks for pos attacks.
I have a RL buddy in BoB and when i asked him "isn't it boring to win so often?" he said that it pretty much is. I think that might be the reason they would try to overextend themselves a bit and look inviting for a gangbang.
In any case, there's lots of exciting things happening all over the game lately. The IAC/ISS war is escalating with RA/Goons/TCF/AAA and LV getting dragged into it, AAA is going to be neighbours to BoB when Feyth falls, and D2 and friends have most probably used all this free time to complete a fleet of titans and motherships bigger than their enemies in the south.
I don't know about the rest of the community, but i think that the north is way too quiet for something big not to be happening behind the scenes. Of course i don't expect an announcement by D2 saying "hi guys, we have 5 titans", but i find it highly probable that they will soon have at least 2-3 with more cooking in the oven. There has to be a reason for all their efforts to keep a long lasting peace in their corner of the woods, i doubt their PvPers put up with all these naps for other members to line their personal pockets all this time, especially since a lot of their backbone corps have a communist structure.
What i can see happening is BoB visiting the hostile groups in fountain as soon as they have setup their friendlies in ex-ASCN space. The critical point here is that so much space can't be 100% policed by an alliance of 1500 members, even with cynos and jumpclones, so when BoB locks down 2-3 regions the rest will still be free for fast ganksquads to roam.
It will be a paradise for small and medium sized corps to roam and get expensive kills until the landlords arrive, then bail out and hit somewhere else. In fact, BoB tend to ignore such groups altogether, since they rarely have infrastructure on the line for them to attack and hurt them.
The best they can do is camp them in with superior numbers, send an equal force to have a nice fight 2-3 times a week, or mix the two and pursue a war of attrition against them until they leave, regroup and come back. It's a game of chasing ghosts and they have shown they are not that much into it, unless someone deilberately insults them or tries their best to completely p*ss them off.
All in all, the southwest of the map is shaping up into a ganker's haven, with fat carebearish tennants that drop good loot all over the place. The southeast will probably be an escalating mess for a good while more and the north might be holding the big surprise of the new year, as long as they have put their naps and carebearing time to good use.

BoB wants to conquer all of Eve I think. They don't think there is anyone who really can challenge them. Also BoB has past history with some of the corps who now make up D2. There's natural enmity there. I think it's only a matter of time before they fight. That's a match that all of Eve will be interested in seeing.

BoB openly state they want to conquer all of Eve, but there have been many cases IRL of military forces fighting on 2 fronts and have been horribly beaten (i won't name specifics as i think it's against the rules). I fully believe that BoB are clever enough not to do this, they want win not get shot down in flames ________________________________

Well Liet, i would agree that's the image they broadcast to the rest of the community. I'm inclined to believe they are normal players like everyone else in reality, it's just that most of their members have lot's of time available to spend in this game and they have the dedication to make the most of this time.
I'm a casual player but i have been amazed with the ease i could replace assets during E-R's short stint in D2, simply because i was playing a lot more than now. I was playing almost every day for at least 3 hours per session, i would make enough isk to buy a new vagabond or T2 fitted BS each week and i think i never lost anything bigger than ceptors or t1 cruisers. That was not for lack of participation either, i was active in every PvP campaign that happened during my stay in the alliance, taking the best and most expensive equipment i had to make maximum use of my SPs for our gang.
Taking Branch from ERA, raiding in tribute, chasing TCF in Venal, fighting a POS war vs the Goons in XZH and using my jumpclone to NPC when i was working a nightshift. In fact, i even remember making sniping fly-by runs in a squad of 5 BS against a Goon camp of more than 100 during one of my nightshifts (btw PvP @ work is the biggest rush ever due to the risk of having to go afk at the worst possible time )
Now, if you take 500 people who play a minimum of 4-5 hours every single day and more during the weekends, add 500-100 more who play every other day and have 4-5 people with a clue calling the shots and in a general agreement with each other, you get a very effective alliance. There is nothing superhuman or mystique about it, it's just math and a logical outcome.
If BoB thought that no one could stand up to them, i think they would have quit the game already. Maybe there's nobody that can take them one on one, but if they try a little bit to irritate a lot of people in different parts of the map they will probably get the multi-front challenge they seem to be after

Lol, how true. I'm now even considering using TS to just listen at work, pretending i'm listening to music while working
You're prolly Έληνας, and so am I, so it's better we don't meet. You may be the guy next door who always get praised by the boss for working so hard on his pc all the time, or I may be that guy. Some things better be left unknown
On a serious note, yes I agree that BoB cannot probably 'win eve' as they are now, but if I was sir molle guy and whoever is in charge of D2, I would arrange a TS meeting, sign the uber-nap, THEN win eve. After everyone else is obliterated, the big battle could begin

Heh, interesting take on things there, both about work and the game. However, i disagree a bit about the nap thing between D2 and BoB. I think it would be the single most boring thing to happen in the game.

Didn't the exact same happen after curse/sa war? South West was a mess for a good year or so. Towards the end BoB went up to Venal and started causing havoc, once the SA/CA war was over, dust had settled and The Five had enough with POS warfare they soon went up, before you know it this nice daisy chain of naps the north had is crushed and is an utter mess.
Hopefully the same will happen again.

But of course it would be boring and we would all flame them both to hell and back for it. I don't think anyone (except see below) would like to see that. I'm just saying that from a pure strategic point of view (mainly for BoB leadership) it would prolly be No1 in the -things to do to win eve- list (tm).... /me waits for his gazillion iskies from sir mole for this sound advice
P.S. Crell would kill me in rl if I din't join his corp and it would be easy, we sleep under the same roof every holiday=omg he's here now. Still I hope we meet in space some time soon, either as +tives or -tives for some good ole-from-the-heart local/TS smack

edit Why is outbreak in the north ? - because some ppl still didn't know how to watch local while mining / ratting and Outbreak is a very good teacher. - for the fun - for smaller scale fights, some they win some are won by us

Displaying your defeats as victories is the greatest art of propaganda, eh? It is 5, who left the north defeated after they saw there was no way to keep it with their main corp disbanded.
