Well, I understand what the OP is trying to say but, I do think he's wrong.
1) EVE card game- I felt the same way you do about this when I first heard about it. However, looking at how CCP bought White Wolf, it actually makes sense. Don't forget business mergers don't happen overnight so, the merger and the card game was all being developed at the same time.
2) EON magazine- Might be the single greatest thing that CCP could bring it's fans. It's cool to actually be able to read some of the interviews with the CCP staff and long term players. It is a very entertaining read and also gives corps the abilty to put out advertisements making themselves look like real companies. I gotta give CCP kudos on both the foresight and the execution of EON.
3) White Wolf- For years CCP has said that they will not survive on Eve alone. It is a good business opportunity for CCP.
4) 'The fellow nerds the devs meet at gamer conventions' You have to be kidding me on this one right? Game developers put in alot of hours and sometimes need to kick back. What better way to show how much the players mean to them than to hang out with them. Do you think every single person at the CCP office is down at a particular convention?!? It's not like..OMG the convention is here so all the eve servers are shut down.
5) China server- The China server did delay Kali.....so what. It brings in more cash to CCP allowing them to hire more staff and bring more to Eve as a a whole.
6) 'Resource intensive tournament that I don't have a praywer of ever entering as an average player'- my answer to this....it's not for the average player, and it shouldn't be. The alliance tournaments are just for that alliances. A collection of corporations to make a name for themselves. The alliance tournaments bring an energy to Eve. You say you can't compete as an 'average' player...join an alliance..and fly a merlin in one. You don't have to have alot to fight in the tournament or for that matter alot of skill either. Now to win..thats a whole different story.
7) 'CCP's development of human rendering software when Kali is way behind schedule and the part they have released is a mess'- Personally, I wouldn't call this part a mess. It has bugs like any other major release. Some bugs just don't show up until you have 10,000 people on the game causing weird things to happen. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would care to walk in the stations anyway...bring me planets but, it's CCP's game and that's that. As far as Kali being 'way behind schedule' They puposely broke kali into parts so that they can fix all the bugs that were going to show their ugly head before releasing the other parts. Also, the things like factions warfare are HUGE and will have a huge effect on how Eve is played. I personally hope they take all the time that is needed to ensure that the consequences of adding something like that have been well thought out.
