I've been in asteroid fields that contain Serpentis wrecks. I was looking at the contents of the cargo bay and got a warning about stealing from them. They already attack me whenever I'm mining so would the attacks become worse if I take something? Where are these NPC corps anyway? Are all Serpentis ships NPC's?

Yes, all the Serpentis are NPCs. Anything that is a little red cross is a hostile NPC.
You're getting the theft warning because the wreck is flagged as beloning to somebody else. This happens if somebody else downs the wreck, or (I believe) even if they shot that particular NPC before you.
Basically, stealing from another player's wreck means them and their corp mates can shoot at you for fifteen minutes after you do it.

If you're seeing wrecks in asteroid fields, they're from someone who recently shot down a ship in the area, not from NPCs.

What? I'm asking if all Serpintis are NPCs. I'm seeing Serpentis wrecks floating around and wanted to know it the level of non-provoked attacks will increase if I take something from one. I have no idea who destroyed them or if they are even some sort of ambush, I saw something good in one and wanted it. I know that it's not a "real" player because there is no player info like how long they have been playing and such. Just corp info.

If there is a wreck, then it was created by another player and belongs to them.
If you steal the contents, the players corp will be able to shoot at you.
Wrecks never belong to NPC pirate corps.

Edited by: Jonak on 30/12/2006 20:14:50 Oh man. So If I shoot down an enemy and then someone else comes and takes the contents of the wrecks then my Corp can attack them. It's not fair game? So much for that idea.
But I won't end up on a permanent "BAD" list like these guys I see in yellow, will I? I won't become wanted?

Edited by: Matalino on 30/12/2006 20:29:13 If you take something from someone elses wreck, they (and their player corp) will be able to kill you (but not pod you) for 15 minutes. You will not lose security status, you will not turn orange/red. The only thing that happens is that that can attempt to kill you for 15 minutes. If no-one is around, you can grab the loot, warp back to a station and wait for the timer to run out, then you are safe again.

Well, I did it! And I got blown up!!!
It was fun to play musical chairs with the Serpentis and the guy that was killing them. But as usual, the fox got big headed. I came out of the station before the aggression timer was up and he tore me to pieces! I didn't even have a chance to warp away.
Now I'm buying Navistas to back and drop at different stations for the next round! But I got blew up on my way back with a new ship. Damn Serpentis. But the guy was there trying to kill them for me. He even gave me my stuff back plus the goods from the Serpentis kills. Now I just have to get out of here alive!

When you undock, you have about 30 seconds of invincibility. Use it to redock.

I tried to dock and I couldn't. But I was panicking. It was just something that I wanted to try out. I won't make a habit of it. It cost me a lot of money and time in the end. Right now I'm still in the process of collecting my parts from the scattered Solar Systems. It was fun, but I'll stick to mining for now. No more Yo-ho-ho's for me!

No more wreck raiding for me. I'm trying to get things together so that I can make my own wrecks. I've recovered from the mighty blow dealt to me last night. I lost 3 ships: Tristan, Iteron and a new Navista. The Iteron and Navista were lost at the same time since I had just bought the Navista and was transporting it back. When I got to the warp gate the guards tore me to shreds! I still don't know why? But I left the system and returned later to get some of my salvaged stuff that they tried to attack me again! But I escaped back to the nearest station and I noticed that there was an aggression timer running. Why? The guy that gave me back my stuff also gave me some newly acquired Serpentis items. Could that be the reason why?
I've spent a few million ISK getting new stuff. I have a new Iteron and Tristan. I also have 2 Navistas parked in different stations and the 3 Velators tucked away too. But now I'm fitting the Tristan to do some small combat training. It's loaded with:
Hi-Slots: 75mm Prototype 1 Guass Gun 150mm Prototype 1 Guass Gun Standard Missile Launcher 1 (but I can't use missiles yet)
Mid-Slots: 1MN Afterburner Civilian Shield Booster 1
Low-Slots: Quantum Co-Processor 1 Expanded Cargohold 100mm Reinforced Titanium Plates 1
I'm in a 0.7 area and I'm going to check out the levels of the Serpentis guys around here. I will give it a go but I'll run if things start to go bad. I have a lot of skills to introduce and build up for combat as well as my mining skills. But I want to be sure that Concorde isn't going to rip me a new one if I shoot down Serpentis fighters. Getting blown up the first time was actually kind of funny. I knew that I deserved it. But the second time and then a third attempt wasn't. I have no idea as to why. But things seems to have cooled off. Or do you think I should try the Deep Space Combat Training stations?
So while my mining skills are training I'll try some combat. Maybe I'll get lucky.
