Pretty easy for me. It got boring as hell and I lost all interest in playing it.

I quit WoW the day I admitted it was ruining my life. I was a hardcore raider for almost two years, was in one of the top-30 US guilds, nearly 100% raid attendance. I planned my entire life around raid time, and my life was extremely ****** up as a result, especially since I had been doing the same thing in EQ for 2 or 3 years prior to WoW. When I finally admitted to myself that I was destroying my future and in danger of losing the woman I love more than anything, I ebayed my character and walked away forever.
Eve lets me have as much fun as in WoW, more really, but without feeling like I *must* be on every day without fail, at a preset time that everything else takes a back seat to. I can play when I want, and walk away when I want, without losing anything.

I wish more people would realize this sooner. When I read about people spending all their lifes in battlegrounds just to get some rank, I feel sorry for them. They have lost the perspective on things. Ive done it myself a few times, but luckily I get bored quickly of that sort of thing so I quit when it gets too bad. Like after 10 weeks, not 2 years. Other people are not as lucky....
Next time you guys see a mmorpg that requires you to play all day long to be competitive, then just leave it right away and save yourself the trouble. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

single biggest down side of eve.
Couldn't be more wrong. After all skills are capped at lvl 5, and even a vet can only broaden his expertise, but chose a field to spec and you will be on the same level as a vet in a few months. Only difference: the vet has more fields of activity to choose from due to having broader skills.
Oh, and on topic: I never got into WoW. Started downloading the trial during a longer server down in EVE, but it didn't finish until EVE was back up

Single biggest misconception, EVE is the game where it's easiest for a less skills pilot to make a difference, a lvl10 character in WoW for example is worth **** to his team whereas he would be very useful here, should that lvl10 translate to say 7.4M skillpoints.

I was in Upper Blackrock Spiral and I needed the blood or whatever to complete my Onyxia key. There was noone else there who needed it so it was supposed to be mine. Just as we get there some moron pipes up about how he needs the blood as well, and proceeds to tell me he already has an Onyxia key completed and was tired of doing Onyxia on his other character so he wanted one for this character.
I was fairly sick of the game in general before this so I decided it was about time I came back to EVE (this was a couple years ago). Element harness dropped (finally, I'd been on so many raids looking for it). I roll, win it, ninja the blood, check inventory- yup, harness inside, blood inside, teleport out.
So I get into town, and a minute or so later I get a PM (actually a lot of PM's of people going WTF YOU NINJA LOOTER, with the leaders of my guild laughing their asses off and covering my ass) going "Forget something?" So I think, what?? Open up my inventory real quick, no harness. It was there, and now it was gone. Karma I guess you could call it .
I quit the next day, fully fed up with the game and the general stupidity of the players on server I was on.
Best way to quit is to hit level 60 (it's fun up until that point) and start doing raid's. Then you'll realize how little endgame has to offer in WoW. Oh, and go PVP a little bit and you'll be craving EVE more than ever.

At one point I was playing WoW and suddenly realized I was playing the exact same game as all the other players. In the sense that everyone does the same missions gets the same rewards and mostly even does them in the same order. At that point I lost all interest in the game and decided to quit. The refreshing diffrence in EVE is the lack of linearity. Apart from maybe the tutorial no-one actually does the exact same as anyone else, there is also no possible finishing the game. As say is with WoW where once reaching lvl 60 (or with the new expansion lvl 70) there is nothing else to do then farm out dungeons with your clan/group/friends and that gets boring pretty damn fast if you ask me.

Well I hit a bit of a grinding wall around level 50 on my first toon... I took a break and went back. I do enjoy WOW, but I think it is more down to the guild. A lot of us have played together since founding/joining a guild on SWG so there is a strong community feeling amongst us.

I played us,korean and eu open beta, then eu-servers until feb06 where i finally decided to not log in again.
Reason: WoW is boring, the funniest thing i could do was leveling up another character and do some redganking. WoW consists of 2 things: farming and bad players. It's all over the place, prior to having some fun you have to get reagents (until Blizzard finally changed the whipper root tuber things i used them even during farming) and then zerg with 39 other players against 40 dumb idiots who can barely keep up to your skill though they're playing 24/7.
In EVE you once run a complex and you can have fun with frigs/cruisers several weeks (depending on skill, location and gatecamps) :)
And... you dont need to farm for a mount in EVE... because a Shuttle is just 9.000 ISK ;)
So my advice is: get all the facts in mind and just dont log in again. ___________________

Got to tier2 gear, epicc'd out warriors, three of them, two of them got to Grand Marshal and sold them. AQ40, ZG, blah blah blah.
Got sick of it when Blizzard just kept on piling on "content" that is a poor excuse of just adding more raid dungeons. I decided that I've had enough of the idiot treadmill and quit. ---------------

I played WoW up to about level 55. I got tired of trying to find people to run instances with me. I could tell that it wasn't going to change when I got to 60. I did really enjoy everything up to that point though. WoW's plot, background, and story is about 10 times more intriguing than EVE's, IMO. I will probably reactivate my account just to play the new content and get access more of Warcraft's storyline. WoW's PVE might be a grind, but blows EVE's PVE out of the water.
The only reason why I still play Eve is the dynamic PvP. By PvP I just don't mean combat, but I love how groups of people can compete against each other on multiple fronts, such as manufacturing, mining, and marketing. The universe outside of empire space is always changing. Interesting stories come from the players instead of the game. I think Blizzard does a better job on everything, excluding PvP and the time-based skill sytem. Sorry guys. /me puts flame retardant suit on Evolution in Eve:

Blizzard ripped of Warhammer on virtually every level. Furthermore, their "story" was tastelessly bland, boring, and full of cliches. Now that they're adding spaceships into the mix, you can really tell they've run out of ideas and are basically scrapping everything they've done before.
You simply can't have "good story" and "elves" in the same sentence these days. It's done. To death.
Now Warhammer 40K... that would make a SUPREME MMO.

Adding spaceships!?!? Link please.
So basically, your only arguement that WoW has a boring, tasteless story is that it has elves in it?
I don't know much about Warhammer aside from the fact that it has orcs in it, which isn't any less cliche then evles. Besides, it's not like Warhammer's story is completely original. It's obvious that it borrows heavily off of Tolkein's books. Even Tolkein's stories aren't that orginal. LOTR involves creatures and lore that come from ancient legends and mythology. So yeah, Warcraft copied stuff: off of Warhammer, or LOTR, or mythology? Who knows? The fantasy genre is rarely original.
Let's not get started about the background in Eve. It's not bad or anything, but I think every other sci-fi game starts with: "Humans discover some sort of technology that allows them to travel to other worlds, then that technology goes haywire and causes them to lose contact with each other, then they develop seperate factions fight over resources." zzzz.
Unlike CCP, Blizzard does a very good job of making a story and incorporating it into the game. I don't feel like part of the "Eve" universe when I'm doing missions. When I talk to agent, it's just like talking to a computer who dispenses missions at random. Quests in WoW actaully made me feel like I was part of the story. Ripped off or not, I still believed WoW's story is much richer than Eve's.

True, but in the time it takes the 7.4m SP char to get to 14.8m SP, the WoW char could probably have 2 level 60 characters
Ive been playing WoW for a few weeks now, im level 28 and loving it really, only log onto EVE to switch skills and catch up on the latest news now.

Edited by: NightmareX on 10/01/2007 17:51:53 Heh, i have many friends that are playing World Of Warcrap. And they got me to try out a 10 days trial, and i did it. But....., hell, more boring start is not possible to find. I know EVE can have a slow and boring start, but WoW takes that by miles distance in beeing boring. You need to go and take those crap quests to get up in level to be able to do anything in WoW. Quests is not what i want to do, i want to pvp from the beginning.
Well you can PVP in WoW from the beginning, but is it worth it?, the answer is NOO.
In EVE, you can PVP from the first day after you have created a character, and you can PVP pretty good even when you are a total noob in EVE.
I think i went up to level 7 or 8 with the dwarf i had, and after that, i saw how crap and borin WoW was. I know the real good fun doesn't start from you are like level 20 or 30 or something, but that's not my point, my point is that i want to have fun from the start.
And after i tested out the 10 days trial, i know one thing for sure, i will never ever install anything that have with WoW to do. Oh btw,, Blizzard are taking money for the expansions you need to get to WoW, and THEN again you have to pay to be able to play the game, that's idiotic in my eyes.
I could write a lot more stupid things about WoW here, but i will not write all here.
That was my words about World of Warcrap.

At a time I was so addicted to WoW that I ditched EVERYTHING to play it, even though a part of me knew that this wasn't normal. Luckily I went on a vacation with the family for 3 weeks, and when I came back, I had no urge at all to start playing it again, so I came back to EVE.

I haven't quit yet surprisingly. My irl friends who also play WoW and college friends smetimes will do AB/WSG or simply just do some raids, that's what keeps me playing. If it wasn't for them, the exploiting, whining, and immaturity of 75% of the population would've overwhlemed me hehe.

I didn't leave WoW for any game, I did leave because I realised that what I am doing is wasting my money and time. After that I started to draw and write again and I am happy now.
I didn't acomplish anything in WoW. I didn't do anything creative. I was just a consumer. Bond to things that I owe and they started to owe me.
I simply quit. Didn't make any appointments, when to end, just uninstalled the game and sold it.
Must say that World of Warcraft is crap if you think about it but it has something really addicitive. Many times from I the time left I had thoughts about how nice it would be to play my shaman once more - however I think its just a mix of what I want WoW to be and what it is. Every time I think about bad sides, how ******* boring it was, how expensive it was, how laughtable graphic it had and how many addicted people I met.
