I've had some ideas lately, call me a fool if you will, but:
Hitman Online: No, you're not 47, but you're still an ortmeir clone (this could bring up a huge new story line that is quite open ended)
You gain experience for going on missions, the better the rating (IE - Silent Assassian nets you the most whereas mass murderer nets you the least) the better exp reward you'll recieve, upon leveling up you can adjust your attributes and add skill points to Skills and their Sublevels - Firearms as a general skill and then Handguns, SMGs, Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Heavy Weapons, etc. as an example.
As you progress further and become more and more notorious you can access better contacts in whichever faction you're in (say the 'Agency' or the 'Franchise' for a weak example) and eventually take on more daring missions, and eventually form your own ring of assassians (ie Corps in eve or Clans or whatever you want to call it.)
A loose idea, but I think it has potential...Hitman's engine already has huge potential for PVP online in a first-person mode, so keep that with the game and people can have loads of fun! :-)
Need For Speed Online
I reckon that this could be cool. Win races to earn exp and cash. Use exp and cash to be able to upgrade and buy better cars - skills could be things like Shifting, Reaction Time...or maybe skills in car classes - ****heaps, Hatchbacks, Sedans/Saloons, Estates/Wagons, Trucks/Suvs, Coupes, supercars, etc.
Simple, but could be lots of fun.
If you've got any ideas, I'd like to hear them.

Mechwarrior online.
Think Mechwarrior 4 mercs style gameplay, but in the same RPG setup as eve. Buy mechs, build installations on the planet the game would be set on, form clans, raid other bases.
I dream about it every night.

I got one that would utilize future technology and have a whole infrastructure that would need to be built around it, but I wanna make it and enjoy the wealth, or atleast pitch the idea, so I don't think I'll share that one.
One I would really like to see implemented is one I would call battle school. It would basically be an mmorpg or mmofps or something based on Orson Scott Cards book, Enders Game. If you are not familiar with it, I recomend you pick it up and read it.

Heard of Ender's Game, and it sounds interesting, but it seemed to me to not have alot of excitement, and I need excitement in books...otherwise I get very bored, so how I've made it so far into the Wheel of Time (This needs to be an MMORPG very badly) Idk.

The one with the most experience points still alive or killed last wins, permadeath. Your characters live on, sort of.
Then the obvious Vampire The Masquerade of course.

I'm an idiot because I dont study fantasy worlds? I've been to maybe 2 shops in my life that have had the lil paintable warhammer dudes. I'm willing to bet 95% of the worlds population that plays wow wont care to switch over to Warhammer just because its made by the company that originally came up with the concept. No I dont play wow, but like I said, not knowing wtf warhammer is or that it was the original creator of the concept, looking at the screenshots of warhammer it looks like its just ripping WoW off.
And as far as starcraft goes. Yea I did play starcraft way back when, and guess what, I never heard of warhammer40k, dont care either. Blizzard seized the opportunity and made something of itself. Blame warhammer not blizzard.
And calling someone an idiot for not knowing wtf warhammer is, is being an idiot.

I beg to differ, they were inspired by these yes, they did not wholesale rip the concepts like Blizzard did adding nothing new of note themselves. The Warhammer world is the richest I've yet to encounter in any fantasy game setting, surpassing even Tolkiens work, which admit it was mostly fairy songs and 'who's on first...'
Can we get back to the topic on hand now that we've solved the chicken and the turd mystery?

I was making a semi informed post but was not ignorant to the fact at hand, which I have stated before. My opinion is that it doesnt matter if people are saying omfg WoW copied warhammer, the masses will say, as I did, omfg warhammer is copying wow. And you yourself stated that they are taking pretty much everything wow did and adding little, or nothing, of their own to the game. Taking another game, albeit a game that has used the same CONCEPT, and creating a game that is in all ways the same as far as graphics, gameplay, and concept are concerned is copying. Which led me to say "Copying WoW Ftl..." if you see that as an uninformed ignorant post you may wanna get your eyes checked

I only have the tinyest hint of a game idea here but I would like to play a game where you are a worker in a massive mine, perhaps mining a large rock in space. You can be a guard/miner/other stuff. Miners would need to actually do the mining, which generates revenue for the mining company, Guards need to protect the miners against nasties such as a horrible alien monster in a cavern that some miner just broke through into. Once the company has decided that rock has given all it's got or it's no longer safe to mine they all ship out to another location. Yeah.. I know.. it sucks...

Omfg I just had the best idea ever.
Name of Mmo: "Deity" You fight for your religion. The game would be set on an earth like planet not sure exactly what time frame. I'm thinking the easiest route and most appealing to the masses would be a time setting like dark age of camelot. Have multiple 'deities' to chose from, this would pretty much be the race selection. Each deity in the game would relate to a real deity or race that really exist on earth but overly exadgerated. Have certain deities be a peaceful race, some be fiercely combative. Ie: Buddhist based race would look tibetanish and be very peaceful with most other deities while the Islamic based race would look slightly arab and have alot of competitors. etc..
Just think how much free advertisement it'd receive!

THATS SO SO SO COOL

40k online would be sweet but:
It would have to be 90% a pvp game
it would have to have all the races
It would have to have more then one world
It would have to be all one server (one world)
also levels would be bad, everyone should have a role
Necrons should not be playable in an mmog.
Warhammer Online
I don't know anything about Warhammer, so I don't know whether this is 40k or what, but it does have the name 'Warhammer' in the title
Copying WoW ftl...
Being 14 without a clue FTL. Warhammer is 20+ years old, WoW just ripped the concept some few years ago and went with it like a twobit coverband at the mall, dignity be damned. 'We'll just change the color of our elves and enlarge the ears and it's all new!' Then again you probably knew that and was just on troll patrol.
Being a dumbass douchebag Ftl, I'm not 14, I'm 22. So guess what not all 20+ years old know WTF warhammer is nor give a flying fk. But guess what, even if Warhammer's concept and fantasy world existed before WoWs. WoW was a mmo first, so looking at the screenshots and see'ing that it looks like a carbon copy of WoW makes me say "Copying WoW Ftl..."
So grats on being a douche there buddy
So because games workshop is changing their idea into an mmo means they are copying it? Also for a 22 year old you speak like a child.
What games workshop is copying is the implementation. Warhammmer online will play just like WoW from everything I've heard - they've got the same sort of raids and leveling for example. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

The thing that makes me laugh most about the wow / warhammer thing is that I know that if I showed a screenshot of warhammer online to someone who plays wow, and doesnt know about warhammer online, I could say its a leaked screen shot of a content patch not released yet and they'd believe me. It looks like its the same damn thing, same engine powering the same gfx with users leveling up in the same grinding raiding instancing style getting the same loot to look the same as everyone else with the same leet epic armor.

Monty Python Online
Create your hero! Quest for the Grail! Become the next Savior!
Featuring such fantastic quests and lands and people you could meet!
The Knights who say Ni! They cannot be defeated in battle, but if you find the right word to say, "IT" might be the end of them!
Camelot! If you can stand the incessant singing, its a grand ole place! Even the prison inmates seem happy!
Visit the Bridge of Death, to get across, you simply have to answer three questions, What is your name? What is your Quest? And another completely random question!
Mounts? I'm glad you asked! There are no horses in MPO, but you can hire a squire to "gallop" behind you clicking coconut halfs together! Somehow that makes the journey seem less tedious (even if its still the same speed as skipping!)
Journey to Rome and meet Biggus [CENSORED]! But, try not to drop your shoe while you're on the road!
Several crafting classes are available, such as the Illustrious Shrubber! Create wonderful shrubberies! They're in demand like you can't imagine!
Test your knowledge with Sir Gwuinivere, will you weigh more than a duck? And what shape is the Earth? Banana?
Test your mettle against the Black Knight! But beware, his severed limbs will crawl, hop and roll after you endlessly until you truly defeat him (if ever!).
Attend beautiful weddings, in the swamp! Beware of overzealous knights who may try to rescue effeminine princes who have a predilection to singing!
Meet the French... need I say more?
And many many more quests!

You forgot the epic siege raid on the french castle. (Note the high walls and lack of seige weapons.) A giant rabbit can however be used to get inside the fortress. (Even tough theres not enough room for even one person inside it.) Edit: Did i mention the undead parrots? And annoying bards who will follow you.

As for my contribution, I'll go with an alternative to Mechwarrior. Heavy Gear is, to me, a much more fun style of Big Robot game.
Of course, I'd love a Jovian Chronicles game, but I wouldn't want it to be an MMO I think. You know what? I just want a good mech sim for the PC. It seems that my two great loves(mech and space sims) are forbidden ones. ___________________________________

Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles Online
You chose to be an Amberite, or a Chaosian, an initiate of the Pattern, or Adept of the Logrus
PvP between those two diametric opposites, and as you walk thru the shadow worlds in between, you create your own "universal reality" as you see fit, be it modern day, ancient, sci fi, fantasy, or anything you can imagine.
Instant communications across existence via the Trumps, and Magical Artifacts that can be delved from reality, or discovered.
If you never heard of it, I highly recommend buying the Great Book of Amber, which is an epic unto itself like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Narnia, etc.

Remember Thief: The Dark Age; Thief: The Metal Age; and Thief: Deadly Shadows?
Well, imagine a game like Deadly Shadows, but open ended, with a much bigger city, like City of Heroes, only much, much darker, and older. Underground worlds, Caverns, Haunted Ships, Islands of dead Captains, and many more.
You can play one of many different types of characters:
Thief - loosely associated with the keepers, but aligned with no one Stealthy with specialized weapons, not extremly powerful, but deadly when striking from shadows Guard - hired to defend the city, or a nobleman's mansion Tough, real tough, the tank fighters of the game, able to stand toe to toe with the best of them Keeper - Scholars and researchers, able to discover hidden truths and powers Powerful foes, able to walk in shadows, yet strike with deadly accuracy, moving about the city by arcane means Hammerite - A man of the faith wielding a hammer, and forging a god of iron Strong, quick and deadly with the hammer, and priestly subclasses with powerful nuke spells and abilities to heal their comrads Pagan - One with nature, harnessing the raw power of mother earth Able to call upon nature to aid oneself, entangle, and even kill one's opponents, the druidic and shamanistic types.
or one of the merchant types:

Features would include:
Professions similar to Eve: -Miners, fighters (pirates and mercs), builders, etc.
The possiblity of multiple pilots controlling one ship: -Pilots can control turrets, EW systems, etc
Fully dynamic universe: -Any planet/moon can be a controlled by a team of players, if they control the surrounding space. -POS's
Large scale, fast paced battles
A skill system similar to Eve's, but doing certain activities will also increase the rate at which you gain levels

Another MMO I'd love to see would be The Discworld Online. Visit Lancre, Ankh-Morpork, Genua and a huge range of careers to choose from. Would still be cool, if they could do it with a "real" city, similar to what you drive around in, in the recent NFS installments - but lag would be horrid. Just takes one guy with 400 ms pingtimes to wreck havoc in a race. This was one of MCO's biggest problems.

As to the OP. BattleTech would be great.
I have always thought G.I. Joe would make a great PvP game, but most likely it would end up cheesy and crappy. But still if they pulled it off, it could be fun.

Just how the hell do you plan to make those story-driven games work as an MMO? They're good games(my favs actually) but please just don't name drop. Flesh out a rough idea or something.
Also how the HELL would making Need For Speed an MMO make it better? It's enough of a damn grind already unlocking all the damn cars for NFSU, NFSU2, NFS:MW, NFS:Carbon (yeah you can use your +22 trainer and unlock them all, but that's just as satisfying as thinking you beat FFVII by watching Advent Children). Will you make the physics realistic(ala GTR2) to cater to the realistic racing community, or keep them go-karty to cater to the young ones? If so, the players expecting NFS physics would be destroyed in races and quit. If not, car racing will be turned into a matter of who's playing longer, not who's more skilled (ala Gunbound w/ Avatar on).
I'd hope EvE taught you how MMOs can go beyond the grinding, group challenges and PvP grounds and into complex player structure and interaction, but I guess not.
BTW Battletech would be wonderful, but only if it wouldn't take longer than 3 months to ably fight much older characters, kind of like EVE now

Alien vs Predator Online (based on Comics + Games)
Blade Runner Online (book + movie+ game -omg it was so great-)
Those two "universes" are great, got lot of depth to work on, might not be easy tho.

I wonder how many Freelancer players would never go back to Freelancer if they tried Eve Online?
I used to play multiplayer Freelancer (permanent character in the server, etc) but uninstalled it the other day after realizing that I hadn't played it in forever.
Freelancer was a truly immense, incredibly detailed, fantasticaly fun space combat simulator.
Methinks that if there were a Freelancer Online, it would have swept away sci-fi fans from both SWG and Eve-O

Some guys I know were working on a game a decade ago called C.
C stood for Criminal, Corporate, Cop.
Set in the near future of economic collapse and a disfunctional one world Government, players could choose to be criminals, corporate black-boys, or cops. Or all three if you could pull it of.
Sadly the development reached the "Now you have to sell your house and car, or give control to a souless venture capitalist" stage - and like most projects of this nature - died.
A MMO I'd like to see would be based on Carwars 2000. Bands of tanked up autos competing for dwindling resources in a post apocolypse world.
In times of doubt I ask myself "What would BoB do?", and then do the opposite. |

That's why I advocate cutting out the middleman, and embracing the Weird West of Deadlands.
Just the idea of the expansions alone make me hot in the pants. One to open up indian territory, one to expand the back east setting and drag players into the civil war, one to take players to california, one to drag them to canada, hell, one to drag them down to mexico.
The possibilities are endless, and I know i'd have to play everything from a cold blooded pinkerton gunfighter to a proselytizing preacher, to a less than alive blue-belly trying ot put the war behind him despite being killed in it.
You just can't go wrong with a setting like that.

ah, you see i play dice-rolling RPGs and so i've played the 40k RPG through that, there's more to 40k than ridiculously huge battles(though those are fun)
i was thinking an Inquisitor-esque thing where you can be an inquisitor, tech-adept, Marine, etc etc ad nauseum, with a skills system like this game, bonuses/penalties for the various things, possibly incorporating all the races(SQUATS 4TW!!!). i can see the 3rd person shooter thing working really well, but 40k as a FPS was tried and botched (mainly because they used the ghettoriffic TAU[how i hate the carebears of 40k]!!! as a main character) DoW is hawt, tho.
a 100 v 100 thing would be amazingly awesome though, and i'd want full character customization.

Also, I have played both and I can say Warhammer online will be much more enjoyable. You know those WoW battle zones? Yeah, its like that pretty much everywhere. No player limits.
A Battletech MMO would kick ass. The most likely reason is hasn't been done is Mech Assault. Mech Warrior 2: Mercenaries on a grand scale, oooohhhh....

I've always wondered why a sports game, could be any of the major 4-5 in the US or football for a more worldwide view was never made into a mmorg.
You're a footballer you have to do training and stuff to improve stats, you play a game or two per week, that's the action part, then you've got some lifestyle rubbish to draw in the masses, although if you make it like Sims I keel you?
Once you have the engine built you could roll it out over all other sports and end up ruling the MMORG world.
Damn I just gave my business plan away :(

Would be nice play through a game which is totally bio-engerneering based combat, writing DNA sequences, creating lifeforms, mergings cells, killing other players + npcs to gain there genetic structure to use as your own, kinda a borg meets aliens idea.
Star Trek Online
This has to be good tho, will need to be players running the federation, but will need GM's to run the top roles for role play reasons.
It would be great to need at least 5 people to run a ship, helm, tactical, engerneering, command etc :).
*Note, will also need to be able to shoot large holes into the hull of saucer sections of federation ships*

"Gravel: Battle diggers online" You start at level 1 with ú1000 and are presented with a selection of crappy old beaten-up JCBs, you choose one, fix it up as much as you can and then choose a server called a "Field". The idea of the game is to defeat other JCB pilots and take their money, damage can be dealt by ramming or using any of the various equippable items such as the "Combat scoop" or "DOOM pulverizer". The game features added incentives at character creation to encourage new players to use the less popular races, for example, choosing "welsh" at creation removes your word filter and allows the use of a weak "shotgun" which you can fire from the cab whilst choosing "english" increases the chances of sucesfully stealing parts from other people's vehicles. (please note, I am english and live in Wales, this means I am free to ridicule either side) As you gain XP and level you will be allowed to choose bigger and more powerful vehicles with some of the high-end ones even having the ability to equip rear weapons.

The game has a front end that has the map, command structure, logistics, jumpships, factories etc. And the fighting is done on special maps using Netmech IV a mod for Mechwarrior IV Mercenaries. Server is usually up 24/7.
So if you like Battletech you might wana give it a try.

Cutting out the RPG bit, any MMO FPS barring PlanetSide.
Maybe in terms of EVE, being able to fly a spaceship but being able to wander around it at the same time, and board vessels, landing on planets and killing that guy who looked at you funny....the whole thing as it were :D

Never mess with a guy in an ugly ship. He's bitter and has nothing to lose. |
