Ok need help desperately !!!
I don't know what those guys at CCP did to scanning today but as !!!! 3 years old player who deployes probes and scans pretty well every single day!!!!! I cannot do anything now. After deploying probes i go to map - of course old one as i utterly hate new one in beta version or not. What i was doing then was seting up my probes, adjusting postitioning and scan range and of course easily scanning down anything i wanted in very short time.
WHAT IS NOW IS TOTAL JOKE.
Can't move probe, can't change scan range, can't see sphere around probe to predict possible scanning results like before. Basically EVERYTHING , every single scanning feature has been removed from my UI.
Not only that ! There was no real warning that such disaster is incoming. No tips no hints how to operate in this new ****** system.
What now ? After 3 years of succesful probing i have to do tuturial again ?! Really !?
Yes it's rant ... i was doing scanning before - now im shutdown.
Please tell me how to scan ... i beg ... |

Trying it out now. Seems similar, just have to press 'shift' once to get the arrows up to move probes as a group (dont hold shift, just press and release and arrows appear...) |

I'm afraid i'm not best tester but someone who plex this game to play it. If they don't bother to leave working features alone and replace it with total bullshit then ... i have no words.
Maybe i should stop plexing and everyone else who doesn't have time to sit in TEST servers and wants to play game instead ? ! Yeah -90% subs. |

Yes come to my home system i'm too slow on brain to do things like contracting ... so we have to trade in open space. I can jettison all my stuff for you.

Actually, there is a check box in the 'general' settings that allows you to use the old scanning method and the old map.
Perhaps if you took your sunglasses off you would see it...
Perhaps you should look around at the new features in future to reduce the opportunities we have for demonstrating your sense of entitlement. |

I near birthed Kittens when I logged in after the patch and had a look at the scanning.
Rather than come running to the forums bleating and whining about it, I merely checked the options and then just disabled the new features.
As good as new :)

I have to say that the new scanning window and map are ..... er, crap. Sorry but no other word for it. I hate the new style star map as well (that was introduced some time ago), so I was glad to see I could still revert to the old scanner window and the solar system map I am used to. I wont use the new style star map either.
Sorry devs but this time the upgrades are a step backwards. |

Was faced with a new system I was unfamiliar with. . . . The prospect of expending effort to relearn something I had already known, didn't need to have changed was momentarily paralyzing.
Then I took about 4 seconds and took a second to think about what I was looking at, EXPLORED the menus a bit, and found everything I needed to know.
Great change, feels alot smoother. |

Haven't even looked at the new version yet myself, just wanted to point out that just because the option is still there now to use the old version, it doesn't mean it will stay there forever.
There should be an official feedback thread somewhere around here. If you have issue with the new system or if you like it, I'd recommend you head over to the appropriate thread and let your opinion be known there.

I checked use the old settings.....and it didn't.
I got a new WH in the home system and can't scan it because it defaults to multiple items in the sky when I specifically said only this one. There are at least three, maybe more, sigs showing,OMG how about releasing when tested instead of when scheduled.
Nothing should ever be released until the easily found (hint hint) "HOW TO..." file is completed that says in simple language how to perform the new magic trick. Something us knuckle draggers can understand., "Do this, then do this, then do this...."
The fact one person can intuitively understand how to do **** does not mean 100,000 other people can pick it up. |

Is it too much to expect the focus to be on areas that actually need some time spent on them? This system worked fine before.
If you are reading this and want to know how to revert, toggle off the two "Experimental Features" checkboxes in the "General Settings" tab and restart your client. That worked for me. |

Did you change session? ( use gate, dock etc?) after unticking the 'use old map / scan' settings?
You need to do this for the old stuff to be used afaik. I unchecked the changes, then docked and undocked and old map and scanner are back...

Nope, I didn't do either. I just tried it out when I saw this forum post. Figured it out all by my grown-up self. No whining, no raging, no scweaming and scweaming till I was sick.
Quite ironic that many posts berate Eve for 'dumbing down'...and then this post (and some of the posters in it...), demonstrates just exactly WHY Eve needs to dumb down... |

chill out guys, it's not hard.
Just play around with your shift and control keys. hold one then scroll your mouse wheel in and out. Hold the other and scroll your mouse wheel in and out.
No one can see you play. It's OK to not understand something for the first 30 seconds.
Experiment. Learn.
Also, put on your big boy pants and use this opportunity to transition to the "beta" map. It's far superior in EVERY way. Not adjusting is only a testament to your personal stupidity.
