True, but even more so over the last day or two. Now that I look around, its all over the eve site, not just the forums.

CCP need to fix this madness sooner new players are moving on due to excess lag and unplayablility sure the taiwan earthquake has blown up 50% of asias internet bandwidth capacity but these issues are being reported worldwide.
Tomorrows patch will only fix some limited issues more nodes are needed and suggested hub fixes ie agent shifting ice belt removal etc need to have FOLLOW THRO not just lip service paid.

Edited by: Tachy on 03/01/2007 11:58:08 The restructured Web Cell is probably preparing their work for the next year.
Portraits are back up with the good old !. Session management is as broken as possible. Website design is getting 'shaky'.
Look boss, there's so much to do, we can't come and work on <otherarea>. Please send the two <lovelylasses> over here, quickly!

The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

It still doesn't take away you have to log in a few times in a row to be able to post anything. I can understand the timer that disconnects you from the site though, security reasons and such.

Just to clarify here:
I'm not talking about the usual problems, such as logging in and out. I'm talking specifically about the garbled, mis-aligned text that appeared a day or two ago.

Ok, I talked to Garthagk about this, and he wants to know the following:
- Are these bugs reproducible, i.e. do they happen every time for you? - Have you tried clearing the cache in the browser? Do that and reload the page using shift+refresh and see if you still get the bug. That rules out cache issues.
It doesnt seem that everyone with IE 6 gets these bugs, because then we would have tons of posts about it.

WIll have a quick play and see. But they dont happen EVERY time.. ie that screenshot I posted simply refreshing my page fixed it. Other times it can take a couple of refreshes lol.
Will have a looksie and clear my cache etc in a lil bit.

Well, I noticed some changes on the forums... for the better! It's like CCP has updated the forum engine or something. Before you have this crappy popup where you had to write the word every time you wanted to apply bold or italic to a word or sentence. Now you just select the word and apply bold. I noticed this today. Same goes if you try to make a URL. Garthagk, have you been updating the software?

Regards.

What are you talking about?
I've seen forums that work that way (e.g. MMORPG.com's)... but I just tested it now, and the EVE forum posting interface hasn't changed at all

You're actually right. In Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP2) I get the same. Tags are applied to text that is selected with the mouse. In Firefox 2, which i normally use, you get the messagebox with "Enter the text you want bolded" (for example).

Hi - just trying to get this clear, so I can try to figure out what's up. You are seeing this only sometimes, but it happens in both Opera and IE6 and on your roommate's computer?
Do you know when it started - the date of your original post? About how much does it happen, 10%? 50%? Does it seem to only happen at certain times of the day? (Might be indicative of load...) Does it happen to any other web sites you visit, or only us? (And is it limited only to the forums, or does it affect the main www.eve-online.com pages too?)
Please provide as much information as possible. Of course, don't provide anything personally identifying here, just things relevant to the above questions or whatever else you think might be useful. Also, if anybody else is seeing this behavior, please post what's going on for you so I can try to corroborate things and build a good picture of what's going wrong.
At first glance, it seems like the connection is getting reset partway through us sending you the page, which would give you the garbled output. This could be happening anywhere along the chain, but given that it does not appear to be widespread (at least, I haven't seen a lot of reports) and also does not appear to be related to your computer or browser, it may be some sort of interfering proxy or over-zealous firewall between you and our servers.

just a /sidenote...
Taiwan's dec 26 earthquake didnt take out 50% of asia's foreign internet access, it took out 80%...
mostly makes up the reason why I cant join my corp in the fights they're having right now...
oh and small sidenote: what kind of idiot suggests to the ISP to reroute farther from the main hublines on land just to provide better "access"?
case in point: my normal hops after the quake were only 13, and this is on my isp's backup IPL. Now its topping at 26 hops, most of which drop my connection to TQ far more than the last one.
Logic lacking? Yes indeed
Oh on the side of worldwide internet access problems, blame the quake. Having the entirety of Asia drop off everyone's radar unexpectedly can cause connection issues all over the place, since its not only us asians that use the network some people have to go through someone else's country to get to a website you know...
