My system has been running windows for nearly a year now, and it takes an age to start and get all my background crap running, but once it gets going it's fine, so I just hibernate it.
Do you know what that does? That's the worst thing you can do to your computer -_-
Hibernating = copying all running processes onto your hard drive, then shutting it down. Then when you start back up, it loads the image back up from where you left off. I'd say stand-by is better then that, but nothing beats a solid shutdown. ________________________________ KIA Recruitment

i think the a few main reasons for pc slow down over time is a) the crap that builds up in the windows registry over time, every time you open a program or file, download something, visit a website etc. it adds stuff to the registry which grows and grows with crap over time... b) hard drive starts to stores stuff in random places all over the disk (defrag) c) spyware and other malicious programs that run in the background. I dont know how much efficiency is lost over time by build up of dust inside the PC but im sure that doesnt help... a well ventilated PC is always a good idea.
