The Rattlesnake is a superb level 4 mission runner but it works best with MJD and sentry drones. I know people who use MWD, torpedoes and Geckos but those drones are getting a bit expensive. I do not recommend flying it (or any pirate battleship with low skills. You should not consider level 4 missions until you can fit a T2 tank.
Rattlesnake usually fits a passive shield tank - it's fairly easy to get in the 100K ehp range.
As a general rule of thumb your tank+gank as measured by EFT (firepower+defense) should be over 1000 to run level 4 missions comfortably. With less, you'll probably need to warp out and repair from time to time.
If you want to show people your character sheet use http://eveboard.com/ do not post your API!

the rattlesnake is capable of doing so much damage and fitting a huge tank at the same time I'd start there. And in general avoid tech 1 items, most items have meta versions that are better than t1 and often cheaper. And with damage mods training weapons upgrades to lv4 is one of the first things I do on new characters as t2 damage mods are awesome.
with your fit you only have 2 damage mods, and aren't using as many launchers as you could be. Also you are using 2 large shield boosters when you could be using one x-large. or one large and a shield boost amp. Also due to the tank setup you have many modules/rigs fit for cap recharge that could instead be used for damage. This is also a reason why I don't like passive recharge setups.
this is generally the fitting style I like, although I'll typically drop the shield booster to a deadspace medium (pithum c-types are nice, and pretty cheap) and then swap the cap booster for another painter or omni. Overall flying a rattlesnake kinda bothers me because I feel like it is just too slow. Starting from the OP's fit...
There are a lot of slots there dedicated to cap recharge - twin shield boosters are going to burn energy at a serious rate but all-tank-permarun may be an important consideration (due to spotty connection or low skills): The OP talks about killing and then warping - if that means blitzing (killing the absolute minimum and turning over missions as quickly as possible) then depending on current completion times Hyperspatial (warp speed) rigs may be a consideration; otherwise shield rigs are probably the first port of call (given the OP's apparent skills) and perhaps missile application rigs (rigors) as he grows more confident. Three Cap Rechargers is a lot of slots used for minimal gain. If absolute permarun isn't vital then consider using a heavy capacitor booster instead. The fit has vast tracts of untapped powergrid and a cap booster would free up the other two slots for target painters (making both drones and missiles hit harder), shield hardeners (mitigating more damage and therefore further reducing cap pressure) or drone mods. I would also consider replacing the twin shield boosters with an X-Large (which fits easily, slightly improves the tank compared to running the twins and doesn't impair the cap performance), this also frees up a slot - the easy go-to in this slot is generally going to be a shield boost amplifier for many newer players but there are also benefits to a propulsion mod or any of the mods mentioned above depending on which changes have been made. With reduced cap pressure you might consider reducing the PDU stack in the lows - perhaps switching to Ballistic Controls, a damage control (a small tank improvement but by no means negligable - especially when things go horribly wrong).
These are by no means the only changes which could be made to that fit - some of the higher skill fits have already been listed; but they might be useful first steps. |

He's obviously trolling.
Not even a 2 month old noob wouldn't be capable of coming up with such an atrocious fit like that thing the OP posted. |

OP The Rattle makes a excellent passive tank ship as well. No claims that this is the best fit but I do have many corp mates that fly this fit and like it so I offer it as an alternative in how you can fit a Rattle. The dead space hardeners are nice to have but they are hardly required, and in a general sense having them would not in a significant way increase the chance of being ganked because shiny fit.
No prop mod, it is not needed for the way the guys who fly this fit like to run missions but one could easily be added.
The T2 cruise launchers add dps but can easily be replaced with the Arbaleast and they would have a lower skills requirement.
No drones because those are mostly personal preference. When I played with this fit this was my preferred drones load. Always in the drones bay 2 x Garde II 5 x Hammerhead II 5 x Hobgoblin II
Added as needed / wanted depending on mission 2 x Curator 2 x Warden 2 x Bouncer
[Rattlesnake]
5x Cruise Missile Launcher II Drone Link Augmentor II
3x Shield Recharger II Large Shield Extender II 2x Dread Guristas Adaptive Invulnerability Field Pith A-Type EM Ward Field
3x Drone Damage Amplifier II 3x Shield Power Relay II
3x Large Core Defense Field Purger I
Last thoughts. If you want to blitz or do a modified form of a blitz to make as much ISK as possible then the Rattle is the wrong ship to fly. To slow and to be honest drones with travel time slow you down to some degree. And sentry drones tie you to a specific spot in space since they do not move once launched.

Properly fit the Rattlesnake can almost perform as well as a Machariel.
I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
