Ithere any where I could find a list that shows what events have been run over the last year by ISD, in what systems and which corps/alliances managed to complete the event and what prize they gained..
I cant see a definative easy to find list that would help my curiousity and perhaps give me a better idea of the mechanics of events
Thank you in advance

Seems that ISD are willing to reply to defend themselves in other threads but are not willing to even give the courtesy of a reply to this simple request.
I am bunping this by way of this reply to ensure the question doesnt get ignored and drop,
Openess in the actions of the events staff is surely the best way to show complete open handedness and lack of bias in the way events and rewards are distributed.
If such a list does not exist to show all events, the invited participants and the rewards how can the system be checked to ensure that events are not run for the benefit of a few friends.

Edited by: Smagd on 09/01/2007 12:39:41 Hmm, I can list three (but I won't mention names in order not to give any drug haters ammunition - feel free to guess whoever was involved):
- Early in 2006 a wild band of two or three Thukkers "Khanke-Something Outriders" offered handsome financial benefits for three or four smuggling missions into Minmatar high sec. I personally witnessed a solo job from Amamake to Pator, frig sized cargo of a moderately illegal drug for around 1M ISK. They did some more with a larger smuggler corp, but it was really only just very few missions and the Outriders got lost somewhere in jail I believe.
- In July 2006 ten regularly convicted Minmatar Republic criminals escaped their prisons, stole ships and made a beeline for Angel space in groups of two. A low-sec shy Republic Fleet representative in a posh police frig contacted a pod pilot organization to apprehend their ships and/or pods for a return to their jails. A small monetary compensation was offered, but unanimously donated to the survivors of any guard killed during the initial jail break. On hindsight, we should have tried to get the last two criminals to eject from their ships - they were flying Concord "shotgun" style battleships, although I've got a feeling they would rather have self-destructed.
- A Rogue Drone Bee took up residency in one of the Ammold training deadspaces in a pretty regular looking Drone Dominix, declaring intent to found a new drone hive to all of local. Now, from level 4 experience getting within 20 kms from that in a rookie frig appeared to be a really bad idea. Pilots were still trying to figure how to firstly get into rookie frigs, or secondly bring anything but rookie frigates through the acceleration gate, when one eager pilot finally attacked. We ended up having at least one rookie ship with Tech 2 guns in there. Fortunately for the assembled mob, the Drone Bee wasn't very good at focus fire, otherwise her combat drones could have made this a bloody day. Rewards were a few not too expensive T2 modules from the loot (rocket launchers T2 and small T2 drones).
Of all these I liked the last best. While it was fun to interact in major roleplay with a crowd of drunken Thukkers, the actual smuggling was a bit too easy / straightforward. And while the compensation was good, it was just too few missions.
The second one was better in providing a nice little story arc with good role play both on part of the police and the criminals providing an opportunity to shoot at Concord Battleship legally, and also proved that ISD has some tactical knowledge (not being able to shoot at pods, saw them escape through gates several times till we finally brought a webifier *blush*, and the Concord Battleships were found in a complex deadspace in sniper positions, hard to tackle that with all tacklers using MWDs) but the rewards were so minimal we all just decided to not bother with them (and role-played it into a donation).
The third was just instant plain puzzle-type fun, and addressed to rookies, too. If that Bee hadn't been meant to deal with real rookies (and hence couldn't really be strong), she could easily have done a lot more damage, and never mind about the rewards really. Easy good fun.
Hope to see more.
Last Edit: By the way, you may want to make your topic a little more "speaking". "Events of 2006 recapitulated" is a lot better (and searchable!) than "Just as matter of interest". --

Since there has already been a topic about accountability then I suggest you go and read Nebulai's reply here.
It isn't about being open it is about roleplay immersion, the events are not there to hand out rewards only but ofc people who put in time to follow an arc through are rewarded. When it comes to rewards there are tonnes of factors such as size and length of the story arc, risks involved, how dedicated players have been to their roleplaying etc etc..
Regarding if there is anywhere you can find a list, then the answer is simple: No
Does CCP / Aurora have the information: Yes Are CCP informed of every event we run: Yes Are CCP notified/involved in all major rewards: Yes
Do you think CCP would let a volunteer team be biased?
...I don't.
Keep the topic free from flaming, accusations or trolling and it won't face same locking-destiny as other one.

Thank you for your honest reply
But it does worry me that along with comments like..
Quote: as well as asking players that our characters have gotten to know as trustworthy
could lead people to wonder if events that deliver major rewards are only organised for those known personally to the events team, and if this is the case then of course certain corps /alliances would be given an advantage over others in the game.
this is a point that should be of concern for all corps/alliances.
Is there a issue which stops the events team listing which events have been held, which rewards were given, and to which corps/alliances. If no disproportionate amount of events/awards have been given to any particular organisations then the public listing should put everyones mind at rest as to wether the delivery of events/rewards is being carried out in a fair and equitable manner.
If in the unlikely event it shows some organisations do recieve a disproportionate amount of events/rewards then surely this would also be a good thing, enabling the events team to more carefully allocate their resources throughout the Eve community

This mean as "in character", roleplay you know ;) It has nothing to do with our OOG feelings or IG relationship as our PC. There are very fat big red/pink/teal lines between our IC roleplay as Aurora, our IG PC and us OOG. Ofc if a group/corp/alliance say "we don't want any events" then that can easily be arranged.
So if you have any thought it would mean anything to our OOC relationships then you can skip that. It is Roleplay 101 to separate the character you act and..well.. everything that isn't in character.

There are several reasons, but to take the one that came first to mind is that since all storyline events are in character as part of the dynamic story in EVE we don't "announce" rewards in an out of character way - that would only ruin the immersion of the dynamic universe.
So please let CCP and Aurora leads (with several years experience of eventage) decide what is appropriate and not. Again, if you have proof of us cheating you know from Neb's post where to mail.
I will only say it once again - no list is published or ever will be. Such a list would only act as flamebait and a trolling starter if every player were to decide what is appropriate - and that would result in people not wanting to volunteer (who wanna volunteer if they get 9 parts whining and 1 part thumbs up) ..which would lead to no events in EVE.
So if you don't have any further questions, cuz I see this one as answered.

Firstly, I have not accused anyone of anything..
Your answers, while appreciated, do not address the primary concern that I have.
Accountabilty at the moment is between those who RP, those who RP in ISD and CCP, there is no way any one outside that circle can either reap the rewards of major events or see if there is any corps/alliance gaining an unfair advantage in the wider Eve community (RPers interact with non-RP corps/alliances as well).
Take an example. A small RP corps is at war with a small non RP corps, the sides pretty evenly balanced, the non RP corps has to fund its war by conventional means, the RP corps doing the same, until an event that has been released to the RPers, known to the ISD team provides a capitol ship to the RP corps. that reward for an event changes the status quo within the war.
Given this scenerio the RP corps has been given a distinct advantage by the ISD team that the non-RP corps has no access too.
perhaps to answer your point about non RP alliances/corps concerns, perhaps because this discussion is not allowed to happen in the Corps/alliance discussion forums and is moved to this quiet backwater on the forums it is a point that has been largely overlooked
Has it happened? we dont know because we cant be told, could it happen? given the answers provided by your good self above most definatly yes. Would it happen ? that is an answer only you guys can answer from within yourselves.

TBH, Brushing aside my comments only makes me feel that there is a clique within Eve that exists to give others within that clique rewards outside the usual game mechanics ( is say usual game mechanics as non RP corps by ISD's own comments are normally excluded).
the appearnce that ISD comments have made is that they give out the events to those 1. they know 2. they trust 3. that RP that is a extremely restricted group ie: Clique
In a game that is based on learning and experience to have a section that is given "special" privelages and possibly an unfair advantage over the mainstream is inherently against the spirit that is Eve.
Of course I may be totally mistaken about the "clique" but as ISD will not release details of who they give high end rewards/events too on a regular basis I have no way of knowing.

To be fair , because they wont allow us to know who is invited to take part in high end events and who reaps the rewards they also cannot prove that there is no bias to their friends or corps they have their main characters in.
So you have a stalemate, with neither viewpoint able to take the adavntage over the other, unless of course a event happens and information is released as a reward to one side and not the other to prove one sides arguement.

What I find worrying is that you think the main reward of being involved in an event is getting something spanky and shiny at the end. That is not the case and should never be the case.
Rewards actually have a really strict critea that must be approved by several people. I can really see no constructive reason why information on all the events running or have been run in EVE would be released apart from people using it as flame to accuse the hard working aurora volunteers of bias.
If you think there has been bias then let us know, if not then we really have enough conspiracy theories so far without their being more need for tinfoil hats.

And I find it worrying thatit is possible an item such as a mothership or other capitol ship or other extremely high and strategic value reward could be given to a corp/alliance as the result of an event organised by people who admit they give out events to those they know and trust, and the majority of the Eve population are either in the dark about the event, or the event is possibly organised in such a way that only the ISD friends can possibly complete it.
Or is it policy that some RP corps/alliances that are friends with/ well known by / that have ISD members main characters should be given a strategic/tactical/economic advantage over non-RP corps/alliances?
(unfair question ?? very probably but without knowing who gets the benfits of these events it is hard to judge)

merc999, you have been told all there is to know repeatedly by both ISD and a member of the DEV team. if that is not enough for you why dont you seek out such an event, find out what happens inside these supposed closed "RP" circles. you never know you might actauly have fun along the way.

The rewards you state have to go thru CCP approval before they are given out, so im afraid if its conspiracy theories your looking for then you will have accuse CCP of bias and not the people who volunteer their time to make EVE a more interesting and lively place to be.
Im really not going to entertain a witch hunt without any basis on fact. Like I said if you believe there has been bias then let us know, otherwise you just going to have to trust us.

I respectfully submit , all I have been told by the ISD members and the Dev:
1. We give out events to people we know 2. We will not tell who we give those events too 3. We do give out high value strategic rewards for those missions 4. We wont tell you what they are or who recieved them 5. We wont tell you wether there is a equitable distribution of these events/rewards
Not a single question actually asked has been answered. I have not accused anyone of bias, or of impropriety, I am only concerned that such impropriety could/is occuring if there is not a disclosure of who ISD supports with these "Events"
Worst case scenerio: ISD members use Events to artificially support the corps their main characters are in, or those of their friends. I dont believe this is the case, but without discloure to the Eve population that possibilty is always there.
Volunters have been known to errrrrr... bend the rules for their friends in the past.

Read what I have posted time and time again, I dont know if any favouritism is happening from ISD to some corps/alliances because the we are not allowed to know.

Probably not the best place to ask this question, but it seems fitting as far as the above quote.
In the particular event that I had the absolute pleasure of participating in (I didn't loot, I was having too much fun), the participants and I were very vocal, heavy on the interraction, etc. To the point where the ebil guristas actually threatened me personally with revenge etc.
It was obviously the first part of the arc, if there even was one. The whole Taladigi Trading deal. So I do some stuff that is rather RP and participatory and contact those involved etc, to no end.
Much to my incredibly severe dissapointment, the arc gets continued weeks later something like 18 jumps away. Based on the info given by the event staff and what was in the news, doesn't make any sense. I scoured threads, contacted other players, and did everything I could to participate in the thread that for me turned into "We'll be back for you, Monkeyfingers" event.
Can we get some kind of localization with events? I see no reason why a Caldari based event should be scattered accross the entirety of state space. Especially if you are going to start it in a COSMOS constellation, which pretty much screams to all the cosmos folk "omg yay we get to not grind the same old plexes for a week or two".
Turned into a ramble. But seriously scattering one arc all over known space does absolutely NOTHING for rp immersion in my book.

Making us (ISD and CCP) look like we're by default not trustworthy and demanding us to prove that we are is somewhat twisted. The other way around is how you should approach this topic, you are playing a game by CCP and have to accept they try all and everything to keep it balanced. Simply because you can't access internal documents doesn't mean we want to hide something. It simply means that they chose not to show each and everyone for above mentioned reasons.
TBH, with ISD consisting of members of every single political entity on the galaxy landscape and being part of every playing preferences group (carebear, pvp, insert whatever you can come up with) , assuming that they'd support their playing characters only kinda contradicts the argument we'd solely support a single group of players.

I did not say you were not trustworthy, only that without disclosure on the activities that you guys do I cant make a judgement. a totally different thing
Now to be entirely fair here, and as the asked for disclosure is obviously not forthcoming, my mind would be put at rest if CCP/ISD would simply tell me that in the entire time of Eve a volunteer or number of volunteers have ever been found out to be assisting a member/corp/alliance to the detriment of others?.
If this has never happened or the sa***uards in place and stopped EVERY single incident of this type BEFORE it was bought to CCPs/ISD attention by the capsuleer community by asking questions such as mine then I will be completely silent on the subject.

Even though that one event was the only one I have participated in, I am going to have to back this argument and add a small touch.
A particular corporation was definetly favored when it came to the Taladigi event. This may be the reason the arc moved to a different location. Why? Because that particular corp (not naming them without permission) worked their asses off enhance the event. They went RP to the max, interacted with the ISD staff heavily and in character, and even made it alot more fun for the rest of the players involved who didnt participate quite so heavily. So they deserve whatever they got out of it, because they probably helped take it from a single event to possibly a full blown arc.
Also, if you do get involved in an aurora event, please report it to the appropriate news channels. You gain from these events pretty much what you put into them, from what I have seen.

I know that a lot of events are made up by random players. But at times I must admit it feels like merc999 has a point.
Sometimes these events consist of a small clique of players who either heard it from their "friends" in the corp/alliance who had no previous sources from news. Or people from IRC-channels where the same people frequent.
I enjoy events just as much as other players even though I'm a pirate. Though events are by experience (and backing this info up, a lot of roleplay reports sent to my website for approvial) focused to few corps/alliances.
While I can see the reasoning behind CCP's reluctance to hand out information about events after they have been held. I can also see that this will fuel conspiracy-theories.
I remember back in 2003 where part of the volunteers got accused of abusing their "powers" by players. People reported several cases where volunteers had used their accounts to be on locations where nobody had called for assistance or help (at least according to the players). I don't know how this ended, if the players were proven wrong or if any polaris got booted. But I'm sure CCP are doing anything in their power to prove the credability of themselves and their volunteers.

Geee how come all the people who know a lot of people know about events faster then you? Could it be because they share a channel to inform each other on such things? Could it be because theyre all on the same mailing list where they notify each other of events. Could it be that they hang around in the Racial Faction and Event channels a lot, where people notifiy each other of events?

Events of epic story value are either posted in the news or turned into stories (Ie Crielere Event Arc). A lot of events are about not-so interesting people such as Pirate Jack blackmailing some random people or some random mining corp needed some help to clear out belts or pirates or npcs. -----

Originally by: merc999 I did not say you were not trustworthy, only that without disclosure on the activities that you guys do I cant make a judgement.
Incase you hadent notoiced, nobody really cares about your judgement on aurora and their activities. CCP and the ISD monitor those activities and if you dont trust CCP... well they have your CC date
Originally by: Monkeyfingers Turned into a ramble. But seriously scattering one arc all over known space does absolutely NOTHING for rp immersion in my book.
Event locations are obviously based on their story, if you think pirates cant travel 18 jumps then you really need to leave your cosmos plex more often

They should all be worked into the storyline, absolutely.
Events of epic story value are either posted in the news or turned into stories (Ie Crielere Event Arc). A lot of events are about not-so interesting people such as Pirate Jack blackmailing some random people or some random mining corp needed some help to clear out belts or pirates or npcs.
All excellent points Joshua. I really can't argue with any of them. Though I have to disagree that only epic events are posted to news. The event that I spoke of was in the news twice. But only because a few of the people involved actually reported it.
ANY event can hit the news if it is reported. My problem with the locale of an arc is pretty much two-fold.
If you are going to start "crap" with someone, Aurora, back it up and bring pain. Don't just continue it randomly without any storyline-back a bajillion AU away. Or at least take the time to have the people involved in the beginning of an arc get a distress call or SOMETHING so we can continue our involvement even if we have to drop what we are doing and travel. The players who decide to try and get involved in an arc in an immersive fashion should be able to do so without mailing [email protected] out of game.
I did everything I could to try and stay involved in this particular arc and it became literally impossible. Seed a "teal text detector 1" BPO or something if you are going to spread it out that widely.
At the same time, arcs moving around alot get more people involved, which once again, I can't argue with. It is a good thing.

Well i didnt really man only the huge epic events but basicly events that arent "news worthy" from an in character perspective arent going to end up in the news, the average news paper reader doesnt care that farmer joes crops are doing well this year.

I have had no problem what so ever in participating in several events a week back when i still lived in empire. Its simply a matter of knowing how to find events + some luck for the ones are only announced in local. As for Aurora brining the pain, every time they try something remotely interesting there will be people whining and they once again have to back down.

Cant blame Aurora for people not being to keep up with events tbh, other people seem to do it just fine -----

Alts Online FTW ;)
In all reality what I meant Joshua is that it should be easier for people who participate in the beginning of an arc, to follow an arc. ZOMG! Teh teh guristas have invaded otitoh! and they make personal threats! then they show up for 15 minutes 20 jumps away and then completely dissapear. Kinda weak.
Did I evemail Mogal Taladigi 2 or 3 times about the ships I managed to save from the ebil pirates? Yes.
Was there every any interaction between my corporation and the "characters involved in said event"? No.
It's just not fluid. And it should be.
And as far as "As for Aurora brining the pain, every time they try something remotely interesting there will be people whining and they once again have to back down."
That is another example of Aurora being broken. There are NUMEROUS corporations/alliances willing to mix it up with aurora, who would consider it a blessing. The opposed should probably have a drink and learn to be blessed.
I put a bloody unarmed POS up at the spot where Gulwort Hilack and friends showed up, hoping they would bring more than we could handle. No dice.

Following an arc did become harder when they removed the ability to add event chars to your buddylist. From what ive seen arcs generally dont move around too much though and on some occasions the event person has a standard way of announcing the events, for example through a racial chat channel.

Personally i think its a shame Aurora arent allowed to deliver pain. Actions during events should have concequences, if i shoot a Fed Navy convoy i want em to hate me, if i do several times i was em to send a gank squad to blow me and my associates to hell and back. Id like to see aurora as NPC factions take more of an interest in 0.0, ie actually sending ships and logistical support to whichever faction they choose to ally with.
Of course, there will always be people who whine about things like this and thus itll never happen. -----

Joshua it's interesting how quick you are to jump to the defence of ISD and CCP, especially when you've had Angel aurora events people come specifically to your old home system in curse. Snigg live/d right next door and poped them though. ----

In response to the OP, I'm going to post part of an e-mail response to someone that forwarded their concerns to me over events.
Originally by: e-mail
The volunteer program is closely monitored by no less than 4 CCP Staff and the volunteers who have the ability to create items are a small and select group who have been with the program for a significant length of time before being elevated to such a position. As for outside oversight, this will not occur. First and foremost, it is well known within the company that anyone who uses their position in CCP, including the use of assets such as volunteers, for an in-game advantage will be fired. Second, publishing a list of who got what item on when and for which event is an interference in game play. If we do that, we may as well start publishing lists of all known Role Players, players with more than 1 billion ISK, 250k megacyte, etc., thus providing everyone with a list of targets for grief and harassment.
If you have concerns over events, the Aurora team or event rewards, they can be addressed to myself via e-mail.
In regards to this thread, an answer has been provided. Further discussion will not change this policy, so I am locking the topic.
