i am about to buy my first caldari navy raven and i was wondering if i could do any missions that were previously too hard for me after i buy the CNR.
Have any ofthe more experienced CNR players out there noticed that they could do missions in their CNR that they couldnt do in their regular raven?
For arguments sake, lets assume a complete T2 setup instead of faction mods since i will be pretty broke after i buy this thing,LOL. thanks for the help:)

Edited by: Erik Pathfinder on 11/01/2007 21:20:01 The CNR is more powerful, so you may be able to do some missions better, but it would have to be a situation where your old raven was just a little short of being able to do it. The CNR isn't T2 after all. ---------------

Edited by: App Rentoo on 11/01/2007 21:38:32 The difference isnt that big, mainly the fact that you get to fit another missile launcher instead of a turret. If you are running a mainly T2/T1 named setup on your regular Raven, you'll find a Gist B or C XL booster and a DG amp to be a WAY bigger improvement for your missionrunning, than using your 900 mill to fly in a T2 fitted CNR. ------------------------------------------- I may be Caldari, but I use Artillery on my Raven! |

Yeah listen to the man above me. Always get the Gist stuff first and the CNR afterwards. If you don't have a Gist XL and 1 or 2 Dread Invuls yet, it would be better for you to sell the CNR and buy that instead, and use the next CNR you get for missioning with the proper equipment. A Gist Raven is much better than a T2 CNR. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

But the CNR is cool looking.....
Dont buy a CNR unless you can buy it+the mods. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. |

Agree, definitely go for the Gisti B/X Type X-Large before the CNR.
Its pretty easy to set up an indefinite tank boosting over 1000 shield for significantly less than 200 cap per cycle.
6 launchers, 2 whatevers
gist b-type x-l 2x SB Amp II's 3x hardeners
3x PDU II, 1 BCU II (2 BCU's with cruise, CPU II with torps)
2x Capacitor Control rigs, 3 if you prefer although the shield rig that reduces cap use per boost may be better otherwise you'll get smacked by severe stacking penalties.
Enjoy.

Even with max skills you wont be able to run this setup "indefinite" and CCC rigs have no stacking penalties. -------------------------------------- Agent & Mission-Info: http://www.eveinfo.com Evewide Market-Info: http://eve-central.com/ |

The difference is rather big. Most Raven users use 6 launchers and 2 nos, fitting a 7th means up to 16,7% more damage. +33% structure, armor and +50% shield is no small upgrade. The shield is on the same recharge timer, which is basically giving you 2 free T1 Large Shield extenders without penalty.
So, 16% more damage, 50% more shield and 50% more shield regen. That makes lots of difference in a fight.

Which missions are too hard for a "regular Raven"? With a Gist-C XL booster I have done them all, multiple times. Certainly there are some you can't aggro the entire room and hope to survive, but if done properly, the Raven can finish them all. The only reason to buy a CNR for me is that I have all the toys I want on my Raven. DG BCU, Pith Hardners, Gist-X XL Booster, Estramel SBA - then and only then would I move them over to a CNR. The CNR is a "trophy ship" shame on anyone who fit lowly t2 fittings on it.

There r no missions u cant do with a standart raven having:
6 DG sieges, 2 Heavy NOSF full gist shield set 3 BCU and 1DG CPU and TS RCU
There is no need for a CNR, exept looks....

Raven + gist tank > CNR + t2 tank.
Altho if you're some rich boy, CNR with DG launchers, gisti tank and DG BCUs is pwn, but when you lose that ship you're going to be crying for a long long time.

But now what about the Corvus Raven? I mean, come on!
Over 14k Structure, over 14k Armor, over 16k Shield! And to boot: 8 Launchers! Plus an extra low slot and the PG to handle more launchers.
Is there even one of these in games? The descrption says that it's an award from the Caldari Gaming Comission. Did it go out to the winners of the last Tournie?

What about when pirates gank you and then sell your gist tank back to you?

I heard something about the winner selling it to a corp mate for 35 Billion or so.
