Tonight a pilot in EVE that has been a friend of ours for along time. Was heading to apply to our corp Fate. On the way to join our corporation he attacked some people and killed two battleship's. After he killed these two ships he joined Fate. Then he was accepted into our corp and was traveling to meet us when he got jumped by a corp that has a +10 standing with Fate. To find out later that those people who he killed before applying wanted revenge. Even though he was now wearing Fate. tag's. He was shot at by +10 standing corp and killed.
So myself the CEO of the corp set them back to a 0.0 standing. Was this wrong for me to do or should I keep these people who shoot +10's at a positive standing. I think not.
Just wanted to see others views about this.

Allies aren't corpmates. They may be +10, but a corpie is a corpie. If the corpie makes a mess, and brings it to the corp, then its the corp's responisibility to know that corpie's entanglements.
I'm also intoxicated at the moment... so take this with two shots, and mail me in the morning... or something.

Blues shoot blues because of acts while neutral = dumb
I've shot down plenty of neutrals that were "on the way" or "joining soon". That's what empire offices are for.

As I said in chat earlier. (PS the abuse I agve was messing around, those who know me know I always do it). That what has happened is a diplomacy issue. The corp in question thought that what the guy you have hired has done is underhand tactics to get cheap kill and no ramifications that follow it.
By joining a corp blue to the victims and then going abck to the system he was more than aggrevating the situation and making him look a very guilty part of underhand tactics, so said corp took it upon them selves to underhandedly kill his shuttle (yes it was just a shuttle).
I really do think that you should have waited to contact the leading parties of the corp before making such a decision (even though the way I said it earlier was funnier) Though guess you have to make your own decisions. You do have to see it from the other sides point of view though and it can be seen in a very dispicable act. Whether it was or not is not really the issue, to me it seems like an intention act of killing without the consiquences and said corp took it upon themselves to give the consiquences in as a underhanded tactic that they feel they were duped into.
That said, the argument we had was pretty funny. It's so much easier with people who don't know me.

Bog standard ******* actions by all included it seems like.
1. The old friend could have just made good speed to apply and then start shooting instead of ****ing his new friends off and then hiding behind the blue tag. 2. The other guys could have had a word before shooting blues. 3. Everybody could surely make it work after it happened and come to a conclusion unless you were all hotheaded.

Edited by: Benny Hill on 15/01/2007 07:49:48 Can I join your corp? Plan would be - to kill some of your corp memebrs while still blue - then join another corp you have at +10. Then see what sparks happen.
But seriously - he might have been personal set -10 and that overrides corp or alliance. And - you want that sort of idiot in your corp?

I think it kinda depends on intent.
Did your new member know that the people he attacked/killed were blue to Fate? And thus that he assumed he would be free from repercussion after joining you?
If so, I'd understand a bit more if the people who shot him would not accept that kind of easy exit, though they should have contacted your CEO first.
If your new member didn't know they were blue to Fate, than all the blame falls on the other guys IMO.
As for the issue of shooting at blues, accidents happen. Since leaving ASCN we had a small number of issues with standings, including one that led to the unfortunate killing of a newly acquired friend . It happens.
As long as it is not a deliberate attempt by one corp/alliance to abuse the blue standings to get an edge in a conflict, I don't see the point of escalating it. Friendly fire is a part of war.

So you couldn't make a descission as a ceo by your self, but went running to the forums...respect.
1. A guy killed 2 of our bs's, then went hiding in a "friendly" corp 1 hour later.
2. Exanimo has never had any issues with Fate, and this was a matter between our guys and him.
3. If you kill one of our guys, deal with it and don't whine about it afterwards, nor hide in a friendly corp.
4. As we wrote in our mail to you, this was a one time incident and retaliation for the losses we had. We also saw this matter ended after we killed him.
5. Also, if your guy came up to Pure Blind to join your corp you should have told him who's blue and who's not before he went roaming about. You said it yourself: Phonix > yes, but I told him before he joined we have very few blues.
6. Then the flamefest started, and before anyone could say Eve Online, your guys killed another Exan guy.
We tried to sort things out, but you had to do the quick solution before you spoke with our ceo (as i asked you to do 2 times in our little convo)
6. As of this Exanimo has Fate to negative standing.

It depends if u give a **** about whether or not people can trust your corp. If you could potentially need the trust of other corporations in the future then you might want to think about how you honour your agreements with other corps.
If not, well pew pew.

I think you're in the right. Basically they're saying they value personal vendettas over their relationship with your corp, so let them reap the consequences of that decision.

They shot one of your corp, so if I were you I'd kill 'em all. On the other hand, I understand understand why they want revenge.
I'm sure they thought about the consequences BEFORE attacking your corp m8, so nothing wrong in setting them to neutral.

I agree my personal view on this is that because i am a ex diplomat no matter what anyone does you must take the higher ground and seek a better approach of this cos im sure if this was all explained and discussed the people's who's ships were lost would have been replaced. Incedents happy it just depends how we react to them if they get worse or not. ---------------------------------

You were wrong if you revoked their blue status without warning them in advance, regardless of what their individual members did.

IMO, your applicant was an idiot to be shooting at neutrals when he knew he would be joining a corp who would probably have standings with them. I would apologise on behalf of your idiot corpmate, accept the losses on both sides and move on. ---

I didnt know this corporation was EXAN. Had i known this i would not have said kill them all. Theyre good friends of ours, and ex-alliance mates. They are completely honourable corp, they would not intentionally blow up a blue, and if any members did, they would face being kicked from the corp.

My personal opinion is that he should have not agressed these people en route to joining a new corp without knowing standing's. Imo, they killed him and it should have cleaned the slate, but tbh, they should have made contact first so you knew what was going on before it happened.
He should have engaged his brain but so should have they.

your both wrong.
The applicant to your corp is about as dumb as can be for shooting at people on his way to apply to your corp. People like that are more trouble than their worth I would have booted him out just for being stupid.
Exanimo is also in the wrong here for blowing up a blue target without talking to the CEO first to tell them about the situation.

Pretty sure he already made his decision, and just wanted opinion.
Quote: 1. A guy killed 2 of our bs's, then went hiding in a "friendly" corp 1 hour later.
Hiding is a strong word. Whether or not he knew you were going to be blue or not, he saw you as a valid target, and your pilots should have seen him as a valid threat.
Quote: 2. Exanimo has never had any issues with Fate, and this was a matter between our guys and him.
I disagree. Once he showed blue, he was no longer a valid target. Perhaps your pilots are the ones that need discipline in discerning friend or foes.
Quote: 3. If you kill one of our guys, deal with it and don't whine about it afterwards, nor hide in a friendly corp.
I don't think there's any hiding or whining going on here.
Quote: 5. Also, if your guy came up to Pure Blind to join your corp you should have told him who's blue and who's not before he went roaming about. You said it yourself: Phonix > yes, but I told him before he joined we have very few blues.
Or maybe your pilots should be more careful? I've been traveling the Pure Blind pipe for a long time myself, and I still have a hard time distinguishing "blue neutrals" from "red neutrals". You showed up on his overview, he shot. Pretty simple.
Quote: 6. As of this Exanimo has Fate to negative standing.
I'm sure they are disappointed.

The question is, did the pilot in question have any clue he would be shooting a neutral blue? Hell, I'm sure the guys he killed would probably have gone after him givin the chance.
