The developing situation in Outer Ring and Syndicate, combined with the coming BoB/D2 conflict has made it clear that Vertigo Coalition does not have a bright future. Although we could stand and continue to press on as we always have, our members have determined that such efforts would be futile and only lead to our eventual demise.
Throughout our history we have had many friends - all of whom we would like to thank for their support and their loyalty. However, in the last year our alliance suffered a string of unfortunate occurrences and was forced to rebuild from almost nothing. When I took over as alliance executor we had less than 100 active people and rebuilt to over 300, while making a move to Syndicate and testing our strength against the pilots of R0nin. I mark these accomplishments as a job well done, if not complete. During this rebuilding time we were supported and encouraged by one alliance only - RISE.
As such, the membership of VC felt the best option for us was to work in continued support of our friends, but as partners in their alliance. Therefore - VC is disbanding and all active pilots will be flying with RISE.
This message will be my last communication as a representative of VC and from this day on, VC is no more. It has been an honor to fly with VC and her many friends - I hope we made you proud, and it is not without some sorrow that I walk this new path.
Sincerely, Lokesh Former VC Executor Proud member of RISE

I don't think you know the history between the corps that make up RISE and VC very well. They have always helped each other out and did things together from as far as I remember. The only conflict that I remember (from what someone told me when I came back to EVE) is when Shiva with KOTHFluf turned tail and joined Morsus Mihi (can't ever get the spelling right on that one) and attempted to lock down YRNJ from all other corps except for Shiva. From what I heard it didn't turn out to be a complete lockdown and the rest of the corps/alliances pretty much said FU and did what they wanted to anyways . And whatya know Shiva left VC with their own devices they went north to join the nap monkeys
ps, I beleive (not 100% sure) Shiva left VC because KOTHFluf couldn't get the rest of VC to shoot Sturmgrenadier when they placed a tower in YRNJ to show they weren't taking any crap from the likes of Fluf. Atleast from talking with some guys thats what it sounded like to me.
Edit: GL to the VC guys. See ya down south

Get a clue. Shiva never left VC because of Sturmgrenadier. Shiva left VC to join longterm friends in the north that actually had common interest and fight as one and allow us to grow our industry and corp in and alliance that actually works. Free-Space-Rangers also joined this alliance. Strumgrenadier had been given 3 months to join one of the local alliances down there, as had all the other single corps leeaching off the area under the protection of Shiva. These alliances being FA, VC or Imperium. This was in an effort to get people to work together in a common cause. The incident over YRNJ was a typical example of Sturms greed, selfishness and arrogance. Once confronted by Shiva and VC, they joined FA within 24hrs to avoid a war dec.
Shiva had been in negotiations with Morsus Mihi for several months before anything happened with Sturmgrenadier. We simply got tired of being the police force and protecting all the carebears in the area who wanted nothing to do but rat and mine and not defend the area or fight vs BOB and Xelas. We knew the Norad/FA merger would result in failure, which has proved out true. Rise couldnt even hold Cloud Ring vs a smaller alliance and Outbreak. Its own inside greed and usual bueracracy failing caused the best corps from Norad to leave. This can be seen now as it was Sturmgrenadier who have lead the movement to become BOB pets within Rise. They are an out of game clan that is only concerned with there own corp and only does what is in the best interest for themselves. These are the guys that BOB got a spy into long ago, and shut down there POS in Y-2NAO and cost them billions in losses. And yet a year later they are napping them. Sad.
Once Shiva left the area and moved north, it took BOB and friends only 2 months to clear out the eastern half of Fountain and Aridia. Although I am sad to see Vertigo Coalition disband finally, it was inevitable once Shiva and FSR and Chicago Mobsters left. Just sorry to see them go the way of Rise and lose all honor and dignity and the reason they were formed in the first place.
Good luck guys, you will need it.

OMFG, protecting the carebears? Policing the area? You mean whenever a 10+ bob gang came into the aridia around Hophib and 90% of the time we saw in the intel chat "Everyone dock or get SS, don't give them easy kills!" coming from you your idea of policing the area? Good work there .

ROFLMAO
you just dont know do you. couple quick points, Shiva had no trouble getting the allied corps/alliances in the d4 area to shoot SGHQ people. We did have troubles with the amount of leeches and non-pvp types that inhabited the area of our operations, wich constantly whined, and cried when said BoB gank wing would comethru without any of our combat forces in the area. You fail as many from that time to realise that VC then was primarily a guerilla force. our pvpr's were generaly harrasing Xelas in A-1 and or in Delve harrasing BOB, or Stain Harrasing everyone. Many if not most people in the D4KU-Hophib area were content to rat in the realitiven safety and peace that came with the majority of the Shiva VC PvPr's keeping most of the hostiles away. as for SGHQ, they put a POS up, then took it down. they brought a few BS's to show some people who was the boss, and then left quickly, they got wind of an upcoming war dec, and joied FA. they should really thank thier friends in REZ and BIG that called in some big ticket favors to stop us from going thru with it. try again Buxy I'm sure you can come up with something better if you try.

It's good to hear from so many old friends - I'm glad to see us all thriving in our own endeavours.
Fluf, I don't want to mince words with you - flying with you and everyone else from Shiva were good times and I respect you all. But... "Although I am sad to see Vertigo Coalition disband finally, it was inevitable once Shiva and FSR and Chicago Mobsters left." That statement outlines the problem completely. Couple that with having two executor corporations quit suddenly within a month of each other and it is amazing that VC endured.
It did, however, endure - and grew quite well, even without Shiva. We based our entire alliance on the stubbornness of a few veterans, rebuilt, recruited and became more organized and focused that VC had ever been before.
As to why we'd leave before a conflict started? I'm unwilling to get into all the details (alot of them would probably make no sense to people who weren't in the situation) but I can summarize:
- Syndicate (and even OR) weren't worth fighting for on our own
- We believed we weren't quite ready to carve our own niche in a real region and that Empire=Death (D2 was already shooting us - doubtful anyone in the north would have appreciated our presence)
- "Loyal to our friends" - The truest friend we have had is RISE - they've always kept their word to us, they've sacrificed for us, they've kicked us in the ass when we needed it, they've learned to trust us and us them.
- Keeping the band together - all of VC is pretty proud of what we've accomplished, loyal to each other and we work well together. This gave us an opportunity to keep that together and be useful to a new group.
You can choose to believe it or not, but any details relating to isk/wealth/ore were just an added bonus and not part of why we made this decision.

Much respect, LoKesh.
Frankly, the only reservation I had about leaving VC and Fountain for Tribute and Morsus Mihi was leaving the rest of VC in the lurch, so to speak. There were some good corps and good people that remained in the alliance. I admire those who remained to try to stick it out and keep Vertigo Coalition alive.
Lets face it...VC corps and some of our "friends" weren't getting along that well. Ironically, it was friends, not enemies that were making life in that part of Fountain not a lot of fun. We've even seen some of it flare up just in this thread. The outright lies (or at best, ignorance) that has been posted in this thread by some is just proof-positve that it was time for a change of scenery for all of us.
Initially, I was a little disgusted about RISE's choice to become BoB vassals. I'm still a bit disappointed, but I don't bear them (or VC or merging into RISE) any ill-will. Maybe somewhere along the line, we'll all be shooting at each other, but we'll still have a history of cooperation and friendship to look back upon, as well.
I wish you guys the best. Enjoy yourselves. That's what we're all here for.

I think it's always better for an alliance or corp to take pre-emptive steps for their own survival BEFORE they run into trouble. It's a common mistake to wait for the trouble to start before making a decision or getting into action. Maybe you misjudge the trouble you saw coming, maybe it gets averted for unforeseen circumstances, but at least you are being pro-active. It's always harder to tack in the middle of a storm.

As ex-Sturmgrenadier, I have to say that Fluf / Shiva are trying very hard in this thread to make them look bad.
Let me tell you the story from the eyes of someone who was in SG and saw what really happened:
VC was courting SG to join them. SG would commonly have gangs of 15-30 roaming Aridia and Fountain, either harrassing HUFF (or other pirates), or harrassing Xelas. We eventually even started making runs into Delve, killing BoB haulers and other assorted Delve residents. No, we weren't "beating BoB" but they weren't exactly kicking our butts either. Basically, if we picked the engagement we'd get a few kills, if they picked it we'd lose a few ships, and this was our "arrangement" with BoB for the duration of our residence in Aridia.
BoB would occasionally send gank squads to Aridia and the "lower fountain" area that VC (and SG, and Supremacy) carebeared in, and then eventually the wardec on VC and Imperium, where they declared on SG seperately within 24 hours -- not because we were some huge threat, but just because we were part of the jumbled mess of low-sec residents that were hostile to them in the area.
VC Command would essentially blob everyone up in D4K and try to lock down the entrance to fountain, while BoB would rampage in Yahyerer or Ghekon or one of the other mission-running hubs there, killing all the "freeloaders" that KOTH Fluf was always griping about.
SG would then start chasing them around with whatever VC folks would join up with our gang, and many of the VC folks expressed how much more they enjoyed flying with SG because of how well organized SG were -- I had many conversations with VC members who had nothing but praise for SG.
SG didn't join VC because, well, KOTH Fluf was abrasive and demanding toward us. He discredited us at every opportunity, even though (in my experience) SG was by far the more effective fighting force in the area, willing to commit heavy assets (as were many Imperium pilots, and some of VC) to roving patrols and gank squads. VC pilots and other Aridia residents would be getting picked off in Aridia while the VC fleet sat in D4k and waited.
We constantly had accusations of various sorts coming at us, directly or via the rumor mill, and discussion on the SG forums was pretty much that we didn't like being treated that way. We had tons of unreasonable requests -- like telling us we couldn't mine or rat in YRNJ, even though it was largely SG forces actually engaging the roving BoB gank-squads that plagued the area. We liked most of the people and corps in VC, we just weren't willing to be led by KOTH Fluf, not on the sake of competence, but on the attitude he had towards us. Hell, he even yelled at us once that we were risking too many expensive ships or some garbage (you can't beat BoB in T1 Frig / Cruiser gangs, dude.)
So, the rumor of the war-dec came in. SG had already been negotiating with FA, and the RISE merger of FA and NORAD was already in the works.
So, fellate yourself all you want, but SG joined FA more out of hope for the RISE merger than out of any fear from VC. We were not looking forward to a war with VC, but that was mostly out of respect for our friends in VC than out of any abject fear over the war dec.
Also, note that bullying a corp who can field a gang larger than most of your alliance gangs is a bit brash.
KOTH Fluf, you were a difficult man to work with and I for one am happy that I'm no longer in SG and hence allowed to tell you so.

Quote:

Agreed. Fluffy isn't the most diplomatic of people. He's a truly good guy (under loads of pressure), though...one who'll do just about anything for you. He's stubborn and proud, but he'll always do the right and equitable thing. Anyone who thinks differently, simply doesn't know him.
I don't recall anyone ever saying no "ratting" in YRNJ. It was "no mining" (only when the belts needed to regenerate..it was the only source of bistot for several jumps) and no non-VC POS (without prior permission) in YRNJ (a rule Sturmgrenadiers broke apparently, from SG forum postings sent to us by an SG member, with the full intention of forcing a conflict...from which they then backed down and removed said POS). Any other assertions are just false--- likely as a result of people (some with axes to grind) thinking they knew what was going on, but not really knowing.
Keep in mind...that area was overflowing with people all wanting to use very limited resources. Tempers were bound to flare and they did. Let's not act like SG's crap didn't stink, as well. Everyone was complicit in the way things went in Fountain. However, when push came to shove, we tended to get things worked out and managed to work together when we needed to.
I could dish out a lot more factual information, but I think it's best this just drops right here. Frankly, I doubt anyone other than ex-VC even care.
I'll just say that I find it amazing how differently people recollect their time in (or around) VC.
VC started out as a pretty cool idea and was fun for a while, but lots of things occurred that doomed it to failure. For my part, I was pretty jaded with the alliance after only three or four months months of its existance.
Good luck to SG. Good luck to the ex-VC....good luck to RISE. I once counted you among friends and allies and I certainly bear none of you any ill-will. We're all doing what we think is best for our continued prosperity and fun.
Happy trails, guys...

uhmm well I think it was a) an x- SG trying to make SG look bad, cuase that there below got some attention. as for the rest of your delusions of that period of time. unless it was led by either an IMP or VC FC not much of SG was doing much of anything vs. Robert. Atleast from talking with some guys thats what it sounded like to me.

Remnants of the fountain area showing their true colors here. I cant blame shiva for leaving as we once did. Was a mess then and sure sounds like it never changed for the better.

Meh, whatever, I'm done with this.
We all keep posting to try and prove who is right and who is wrong and we are all apparently equally deluded based on our perspective during the events.
I still stand by my statements, even though nothing I say here will change anyone's opinion. Suffice it to say that I know I speak the truth of how things went down from my perspective and really can't watch people post utter BS about the best corp I've ever been a member of. So think what you will.
I apologize to SG and VC pilots, as my comments are directed to a very few detractors amongst this thread. I don't mean to cast an ill light on any party other than the individuals my arguments are trying to refute.

VC and FA and the other corps/alliances in the Fountain area have stood up to BoB more than you wannabees ever had or will. But I think most of them have seen the light and seen that BoB aren't the dishonorable alliance that everyone makes them out to be.

Nah, I didn't sell out I created my small corp Black Dwarf and moved my guys out to Omist aligned with LV. I was having fun and my corp was tight (that happens when you have RL friends in the corp ) and I have had offers to join up with several other alliances. I could have taken up resident in a lot of other areas that are a lot more friendly as far as making isk is concerned.
In omist of course, we always had lots of visitors , but COIN+friends were the most fun (when I was there) and we had some good fights, sometimes we got gang banged, other times we were the gangbangers. Was damn good fun and the smack was non-existant (I made sure my gang mates didn't smack and they didn't either, although we had some funny convos in local). I was given an offer, and considered it for a bit, wanted to see how my corp mates felt about it (none of them had any experience fighting BoB and their friends except for me) and we did a vote and 90% wanted to make the move.
Not because we wanted it easy (get just as many gankers in Delve area as any other, although it is changing very quickly ) but because we wanted someone who was organized and diciplined and dedicated as much as we were to EVE.

Had you, or any of the other flame baters here had been witness to the treachery and back stabbing attitude of D2 against us, who we had considered out allies, perhaps you would understand why VC chose to merge into Rise.
Had you, or any of the other flame baters here had been witness to the stable and unwavering relationship we had with BoB all along (granted we were enemies, but mutually respectful ones), you would see why our decision to fight along side them was the best thing for our membership. VC clearly felt the same was, as well as Knights of Syndicate who have also joined us.
D2 for too long now have been overly glorified as the white knights of EVE. I can tell you from much experience with them that this glorification is truly flaud. It will be a happy day when their ledership is taught a lesson in humility, and when the rest of EVE wakes up to their hypocracy. Should there be a war of north and south, D2's allies will learn this very quickly, as Rise and several other group had.
VC has been welcomed with open arms due to the persistance of the members and leadership. They have shown that they fly with honor, and im am proud to fly with them.
Oh, and before you folks in the north try to flame this, as no doubt you will, i would ask for one thing: "Proof or STFU!"

Heya, Fogy! Good to hear from you again!
Yeah...maybe the correct move would have been to just disband the alliance when we left. All the original corps were gone...we were the last.
I agree....the early days of VC were quite fun. After Reformation disintegrated and all you guys drifted off, I think it was the beginning of the end. Shiva (and the corps that merged into it) hung onto the original ideal for a while, but all the crap became tiresome. A change of scenery was needed.

Don't think many of us said much about Rise as a whole, nor about whatshould or should not have happened with VC when we left. although we probly should have pulled it's plug. We have however stated we did not like SGHQ and thought they were at best a burden on what was left of FA and the whole guerilla war against Xelas and BoB. Heck most of us probly have more respect for the then Xelas corps then for the whiny self centered corp and its members we had to endure. as for the Former FA corps that joined RISE and have now headed to a different path, I say good on yah, this is mostly a game after all and there is no "GOOD GUYS" and no "BAD GUYS" just shiny pixels to watch blink across our screens. the out and out uhmm... exagerations of certain events in a certain time got a few of us to bring up some err. emotions although probly shouldn't have walked into the bait that they presented us with. they sure do have an impresive stats in a place Im not allowed to talk about though.
