Anyway, Ferox - so I've now heard its useful for bait, and useful for killing shuttles. Awesome. Seems like alot of caldari ships fit this profile with a select few that are useful (and some of them are too overpriced to have utility).
well some just make it for money. I myself during week dont have capability of get 100% focused in game, so i go make missions in empire for money and salvage. So when i need to get out of PC I can.
But its damm boring... but gives money

Originally by: Bernardo Guii I am a little confused. Why exactly is it such a useless boat? (IF YOU POST, PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO EXPLAIN, thx)
Does the lack of a 6th turret slot limit it too much?
I always thought that the 5% shield resist / lvl was an awesome PvP bonus - do many of you feel it is not useful? Are tanks irrelevant in fleet ops? (ie: get a ship with 2 DPS bonuses because if you get primaried your dead anyways...) Is that the argument against it?
Is it because, like all Caldari ships, that it is inordinately large, slow and easy to lock (high sig)?
I always thought that the Ferox compared rather well to the Brutix - for both PvP and PvE. Different styles - one gets in close with blasters and the other is a mini snipe... Is THAT the reason it isn't good? The range you can snipe at is limited and therefore isn't suited to PvP? Are rails less useful in PvP except at ranges of 250kms?
I am genuinely interested why so many people feel it is such a useless ship. If you have an opinion, please try to EXPLAIN it. Too often people just drop in and say "it sucks..." leaving nothing of substance in their post.
Primarily shield tankers are nto considered very good for SOLO pvp. Since they cant scramb web without sacrifice tank and they cant fit MWD without sacrificing tank.
Other than that, in a 1v1 combat it is no match for may other ships. Like brutix,Prophecy, Harbringer, Hurricane, drake, myrmidon
It is on par with a Cyclone some would say. But The cyclone bonus is slighty better to tank a single ship (my cyclone regenerate 1090 HP every time I click on booster), while resist are better against overhelming firepower. I would put my money on the cyclone on 1v1. It will certainly control the range at just out of balsters effective range or very close if you use rails.

Ferox does a good job at killing enemy support while it's still 100km away for the friendly BSes and running a gang link at the same time.

Its very good for pve A great gate camping ship A good command ship subsitute. A great tank.
DPS is not great for either missiles or guns. Solo wise I've never had much success with it. Other than that it looks great on your signature!

Originally by: Trillian Mcmillan The Ferox is actually quite good at fitting Warfare links. Just like other BCs and CSs.
I really wish people would stop ignoring the ships primary purpose.
it gets a bonus to ecm, which is not worth it even on dedicated ecm ships. why bring an ecm bird that *might* work, when you can bring another ship that always works?
What? A ferox gets a bonus to ECM??
This Ferox???
I think you mixed something up.. :)

"What exactly is this thing good for? I've been told it in no way compares to the brutix - so I'm guessing it is the least of the tier 1 BCs."
Not as much 'the least' but Brutix simply has quite more going for it than any other tier.1 BC, so it naturally comes on top of such comparisons.
Ferox is a typical Caldari gunboat -- strong shield tank, mediocre damage, able to shoot from long range. That's "exactly what she's good for", how you can actually utilize these traits is another story altogether.

The Ferox is decent, but nothing special. Nice shield tank. I could see it being used with rails, sitting at the edge of a bubble camping a gate and sniping hostiles. People get a small buff from the command modules. It has a decent enough tank to survive some DPS. Good PvE moneymaker, maybe not as good as the Drake, but cheap and effective.
The Brutix, on the other hand, with blasters, NOS, and drones can just jump in to a belt and rip a ratter to shreds. Not really as good for fleet work but in fast-moving gang PvP a Brutix can really tear it up.

Bah, the key is teamwork and shield transporters. What it lacks is mobility. But hey, you cant have it all.
High:5 Med Neutron blasters, 2 Medium 'named' or T2 Shield transporters. Medium if MWD. Large if not and if you want them. Large named one,s doesn't exist as far as i have checked.
Med: Med cap inj, whatever =). A tracking computer might be a good idea for the Neutrons.
Low: 1 mag stab, 3 pds if you got mwd on. if not then more mag stabs =). Depending on the characters skills of course.
It has its pros and cons. Easy to spot, too lazy to tell :p .
Yes, i am a noob, maybe even noob of the year? Donations would be cool. My sig is the best. And its blablabla on the forum...oooho. |
