I believe there needs to be a median heavy BS. The Freighter hull would serve as a good mobile platform and station services support platform while operating as a sub capital battleship. It would be -+ the size of a jump freighter. The key role this ship would serve is gang support. |

How would it support the gang? Moral support? Like a bra? You are going to have to be more specific so we can tell you which ship already provides this role. It sounds like the Nestor or Orca are right there for you.
CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Request: add a ganglink for moral support that keeps saying "You can do it!" in local every 15 seconds.
And a t2 module that says "You are the best!" every 10 seconds
Both modules with overheat that reduce cycle time by 30%

Freighters are not sub-caps. Frigates are sub-caps. Jump freighters are already half the size of a freighter.

It sounds like a mini-capital in the vein of the Orca. I like it. I've been proposing these for around 2 years now. My proposals usually center around giving it a lot more powergrid than a battleship along with special high-powered electronic warfare designed to be used against capital ships.

The Orca Hull fit with combat equipment. That's interesting seeing as how the internal ore holds and hangar would be more than enough to accommodate combat accessories. |

sure JF's have ~half the cargo, but physically aren't they the same size?
also, agree, freighters are not sub-caps, the orca is arguably a capital (requiring cap parts to make too, but significantly smaller)
BS are currently the largest inarguable sub-cap
For posting an idea into F&I:
come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it.....
If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

but for a heavy battle ship with orca capable hit points it would be a tad bit over powered and EVERY one would use it
