Appropiate tune for that video.

(And thus days go by / And I (am) desperate / And you, you answering / "Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps")

The Oculus is still cheaper than Star Citizen and still delivered the product.

you forget that RIFT can be a great way to watch 3D films...
Then simple software can make every FPS game 3 dimensional.
it is like games from the past get powerful 3D rendering effects and resolution boost, thanks to some injected modules. example enb series for skyrim.
RIFT can be awesome if they allow software that makes every game 3D projection through occulus.
Microsoft only exists because of VIDEO games for general public fun and OFFICE for companies.
FACEBOOK only exists because of social network and picture browsing aspect. Freaking pictures of dressed up girls.
YOUTUBE - because of homemade and amateur studio unlimited VIDEO clips.
OCCULUS - can only exist if it brings 3D gaming to all and every game regardless of development.
IF games are occulus specific - it will DIE like horrible vaporware... not enough funding to get massive development and following started.
This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

I agree completely. I'd consider that an immediate death sentence for the hardware, as we've seen time and again with other such products.

In a (somehow related) offtopic, 3D TVs are almost dead.

3D television died because no broadcaster wants to devote half their spectrum bandwidth to transmitting it. It was popular because there was a high demand in the Asian market for 3D films but no one is producing actual television content in that format (except the odd sporting event).

I wanted a Rift but then I would have to do some major upgrades to my new computer, so then I was going to put the money towards getting a Nxy model and that was $1200 bucks. So now here I sit not Rift no Nxy.

3D TV also faced a human issue... many people neither watch TV alone (so it required as many glasses as viewers), nor dedicate to it 100% of their attention (rather peek at it while doing other stuff).

Two striking articles by Damon Schubert on VR as a technology... really, really interesing:
On the challenges:
http://www.zenofdesign.com/im-still-skeptical-about-vr/
On the specific case of VR harrasment:
Multiplayer VR Experiences Need to Worry About Harassment Right ******* Now
This one has been a eye opener. First I was thinking, "WTF? Harrassment?" but then I thought about it and... Jesus. It's a really, really serious issue for any game allowing direct interaction between players.
