And even they vary in brightness over days, not seconds. Delta Scuti variables vary quicker, but have a much shallower magnitude variation.

what you see is software from your pod, the stars are emulated for distinction...just like the sound

I think the bigger question that needs to be raised is: what is wrong with the eve universe that makes it so bright and cloudy?
I mean, when is the last time you looked up into a clear night sky and saw a gigantic strip of nebula covering 90% of the galaxy?
And why does that nebula emit more light than stars themselves? I mean... those nebula are BRIGHT. Honestly, I don't think the word nebula classifies to this particular phenomenon, it's simply the wrong scale entirely.

Well, to be fair, we haven't started the module in physics that actually mentions them, that's just some random bit of knowledge I know, like the first 130 digits of pi for example -_-
but erm, yay a nerd point ^_^ ---------------------------------------- Proposed new ship class |

mabey the pod's software also recolors those invisible gases in the nebulas so you can see em. and with the nebula there its enough to cause deviation in the light waveform causing twinkeling hmmm. *==================* Fight the bunnies! ...|\_/|.......(\_|) |\<^-^>=@(x-0) \|.uwu........(....) |

The pod has all sorts of built-in filters to make the void feel a bit less hostile for the pilot. For example, it plays sounds for weapons and explosions - that's detailed in "The Jovian Wetgrave". Spicing up the starfield display is probably part of that.

What gases? ;) Density of various gases in space is really worth mentioning. Density of gases in average 'planetary nebula' is around 1000 particles per cubic centimeter. While earth atmosphere has more than 2x10^19 particles per cubic centimeter.

since this game got so beautyfull graphics, I would like it more realistic, I mean less StarWars SF. too much nebulaes, bad sun rendering, no gravity effects etc..

Well, it is after all a 6 year old graphics engine now. So it's bound to start showing its age at some point. But the good news is that a new one is in the works... wow those new models have looked nice when they have been shown. So perhaps the new engine will take care of all these little issues.

Because eve does not take place in our galaxy. It takes place far away,in a galaxy that must be much younger than ours, because there is still a lot of dust around. If you look out into space, you see that many dust have lots of stars in them, because thats what stars form from. Eventually all the dust is used up,like it is around here. From an artistic standpoint,it makes the backgrounds look less boring. I agree however, stars don't twinkle. Also, stars are HUGE,if you look at their size when you are close in eve, they are way to small.

Really? I heard they might launch one in march,if things go as planned. In fact,I heard they launched one just a little while ago. Rumor has it,a few times, they have even exploded on launch or re-entry.
