Garthagk, WebCell Coder Extrordinaire, has just uploaded some changes to the forum code that returns the usage of the post formatting tools to the EVE forums. These code changes will allow the formatting tools and emoticons to be inserted at the 'point of cursor' instead at the end of existing text.
This change should work with Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox 2 and other mainstream web browsers.

have you considered using some existing forum softwares? i'm sure something can be worked out with security, and they have like 999999999999999 more features then these forums.

Normally id agree, but ive become quite attached to how these forums are. It might sound weird, but it seems to add immersion into EVE >.> We're in the future, we should have forums that look like all of the other ones out there. hehe
Great job btw, now just fix the login and recognization issues :P

Yeah. If the forums were switched to one of the big forum packages out there, they could be configured to look very similar.

Yeah that's something I was wondering recently too. Has it been forgotten about? I don't remember ever seeing an official response or acknowledgement that they are even aware its a problem

I don't think he checks his dev account evemail, being part of the webcell he won't get ingame much with his dev char.
You can post here though. I'll make sure he checks ___

This is not related to this topic, but I don't know of any other way to contact him. He sent me an evemail already and said he would contact me again after his vacation. But that was a month ago and I think he forgot about it. |

I like these forums; they are simple and to the point. Actually, there is only one feature I'd like to see added.
Automate some of the moderation, please. There are some forum policies that can be enforced in software, but aren't. Two examples:
1) Forums that don't allow posts from people in newbie corps. The software should enforce that policy before the post is even made rather than have a human come by later to fix it.
2) Forums that require corp or alliance tags. Those forums should just ignore the user preferences and always show those tags for all posts.
I bet the moderators would love those changes too.

That's awesome. Good job, G.
If only PHPBB and other major forum prog's would do that. Maybe you should send them your code ;)

Direct your web coder to the search function and have him try to find this post using it. Not to be a jerk but, maybe that is a bit more important than emoticons.

Any decent quality forum software already does it, PHPBB of course would not be in the "quality" section when it comes to forums. -----

1a) Would be nice with optional e-mail notification. or 1b) Add a link called "My recent posts" on the menu on the left. I can find my recent posts by finding a post I've posted in, clicking on my portrait and finally clicking on "Read last posts of this character".. but that is already 2 clicks too many
2) Save forum settings in database instead of in cookies. Would get rid of all the "oops.. I posted with my alt instead of main" posts.
3) Fix the session issues... optionally add a feature like "remember me" for a year or so... I'm sure most people here play on their home computer and don't really feel the need to have to login every hour just to post.
Nice work on the javascripts though Garthagk. Makes editing posts much easier. *thumbs up* -----

I noticed the forum avatars too and the devs know about it as well. The devs will fix it soon. ___
