Rank 1 = CEO, Rank 2 = Deputy CEO, Rank 3 = Directors / High ups, Rank 4 = Directors' Assistants, Rank 5 = Average Joe Member, Rank 6 = New Members, Rank 7 = alts, inactives, etc. Not that thats how our corp does it, but if I were Rank 1 then it would be -----------------------------------------------

Well personally I'd go for Navy, since spaceships always feel more like Navy ships than aircraft to me. I suppose its a matter of taste, though. Probably influenced by your favourite sci-fi (Star Trek, BSG and all sorts of others use Navy, while SG-1, for example, goes Airforce). -----------------------------------------------

If we look at tags for example the Republic Fleet has midshipmen and other normal navy ranks while the Amarr Navy seems to use RL army ranks with generals and majors in there. Having said that though, the Amarrians also have an Aurora controlled Lord Admiral... PIE Inc uses a slightly simplified RL navy system - ensign, lieutenant, lt.commander, commander, captain, commodore, vice admiral and admiral. Dulce et decorum est, pro imperator mori It's great being Amarr, ain't it?

In all other cases where they are used (RL, Trek etc) most of them apply to members of the crew of a single vessel. Airforce work much better, but your own original ones are best of all. Usualy called fleet commander. Although I always find giving names like fleet commander in a 35 people corp a bit silly, they barely have enough people to form a small gang.

Capital ships probably have tens of thousands. And most of us own multiple ships. So, the notion of every single pod captain having an ultra-high rank, with noone ever being under Captain, may sound silly but it's not inaccurate. Of course, that ignores the fact that we're all private citizens anyway. I wonder how Factional Warfare is going to change that.

Do they all have specific jobs or is it just to give people fancy additions to their rank of "Sergeant"? EDIT: Oh, and BTW, Fleet Commander is not a rank, it's an appointment. For example, in most armies, Lieutenants (rank) will be Platoon Commanders (appointment), but they could also be Operations Officers, Quartermasters, Adjudants, etc. which are all appointments but not ranks. FOR THE EMPEROR!

Things like Commadore, Squadron Commander, Fleet Commander and Task Force Commander are positions not ranks. Air Froce Officer ranks are the same as Army ranks because the Air Force used to be the Army Air Corps. A Seargent First Class in intelligence carries the same general weight of a Seargeant First Class in Infantry. Essentially they are peers. Its all pay grade and responsibility.
