While I technically have a 'home base' I am also cursed with an attention span that is directly linked to my blood alcohol content. As such I tend to wander a bit, and keep several jump clones scattered about empire to help facilitate this. This results in me accumulating 'treasure piles' in the areas I tend to operate in. It's nice to have a couple fitted ships a few jumps from anywhere, also it drives my OCD friend crazy whenever he sees my asset list.
Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Really? Why move so often? Do you have a lot of stuff to move or does it all neatly and nicely fit into one hauler?

Haha. Also, interesting. I have a jump clone in my High Sec base another at my Low Sec base and two more at major trade hubs. But, honestly, my High Sec and Low Sec clones are fairly close to one another (same region).
Once I get my Covert Ops skills up a little higher, I am going to try exploring some WHs and I won't really be tied to a station in Low Sec anymore. Not that I'm really tied there...

By now I think I have at least a dozen bases all over New Eden. I keep planning to set up some stuff in Outer Ring and Thera, but I keep forgetting about it. Solitude is also on my list for a future base, but first I need to reorganize my jump clones a bit, because I'm sure as hell not planning to travel back for 50+ jumps every time I want to visit one of my main bases.
My main basically keeps moving constantly, if I need another ship or something, I tend to wildly hop around using my strategically positioned jump clones.
Sometimes I spend some weeks slowly travelling through New Eden. A couple months ago I wandered around the Drone Regions, for example. Right now I'm somewhere deep in W-Space, making an occasional jump once a week or so, quite relaxing.
On the other hand, my industry-alt moved only a couple times until I found a nice place for her to set up shop and my PI-alts stopped moving at all after I found a good wormhole for them to occupy. |

Different characters have done different things over the years.
Had 4 home stations on one character, when I tried to level rep on all 4 factions, had to keep moving from one to the other after a few days.
Another time had one home station, nice little system, until I was evicted by CCP by them moving a level 4 agent there.
In general though I tended to work from one home station. |

Yes basically I almost never sit on tons of assets. I've almost always got a courier contract up taking something to either Dodixie or Jita. I only have like 4 stations on my assets window. (OCD) I can do alot with my Stratios and Nereus. I buy more tools for the toolbox if the situation warrants it.
I'm still fairly new, trying to find that niche like anybody I guess.. keeps everything fresh and entertaining too like I just moved out of a C1 (wormholes burn me out so fast)
I keep my things in Dodixie .. I consider that my home address. Stuff like my clothes and random trinkets that got sentimental value.

Currently I have way too many assets in the hi-sec base but I'll soon have an alt handling all that so I can get back to using my other ships (and clones) dotted around the place (a dozen or so stations). |

I'm the same way. I don't like having a lot of assets. I am pretty liquid. I can fully equip about five ships or so including a Noctis for salvage operations and I do have interchangeable Armor Hardeners based on the mission, but, I don't keep stock piles of all sort of T2 or Faction equip.
Not too long ago, I went through my inventory and sold off a lot of T2 equip I never use.

Hopefully not to stray off topic too much I might be looking to keep more permanent jump clones around with skill trading coming. Bye ISK haha

I have ships everywhere, of all varieties, from Hek to Neesher, all through Gallente space, especially around Balle and Villore, but mostly concentrated around Inari and the Ottawasa constellation, as well as a lot of lowsec areas near Deltole, in Khanid, and some in Caldari FW space and a small lowsec pocket near Uedama. Basically, if I need to move elsewhere at this stage, I more than likely already have something at my new location, or very close to it, ready to go.

Never had and need a lot of assets ready for daily business, my handful PvP and exploration ships stay in Thera and Lisbaetanne, when venturing or staging from highsec I base out of Dodixie, Jita, or Amarr. Also because I'm lazy loot and modules are spread across New Eden, mostly FW lowsec. So the biggest actual move I remember was from Loom to Grav station end of last year ... yeah, I hauled 1B of stuff in 2 runs with a T1 hauler.

I move as the content moves, but not a huge amount of stuff.
I have two central "hubs" for anything that isn't related to the current events going on. One is, obviously, Jita, which is where things such as PLEX and similar sit, the other is a system I happened upon while I was still only a few days into EVE. I took a liking to it, I liked the folks who lived there (most, sadly, have since moved on, though I haven't), and I use it as a home for redeemables and collectibles.
Otherwise, I move when the alliance moves, though only ships and what we need for that event.
Edit :: Aaaaand I post with the wrong character. Oh, well. The stuff above is largely character-independent for me, anyway. |

I've been in my area for about 4 years, But since that area is highsec, I've been slowly moving ships across all of it.
Basically all four hubs have about between 30 and 100 different (I'm not joking one station has literally 98 ships in it, only a few doubles of the same ship), and the out layer of highsec have one or two spread out in certain stations pipelines and such. I've basically gotten to point where I can have at 10 different ships with in 10 jumps at all times, and depending on the area to can go up to 100.
I thought about liquidizing my assests but the thought of moving them all and then the hassle and time it would take to sell him all would be agonizingly tedious.

Been playing the game on and off since mid 2009 on two mutually supporting accounts. First few months I was a bit nomadic following mission agents. Then I made my first proper move to Alentene (Verge Vendor region), where I had my first stint in RvB and got into PvP. Started growing roots, assets significantly increased, started manufacturing and market trading.
Three months later I decided to move to NPC Null (Stain), flew out in a Rifter and purchased off the market, reprocessed rat loot, built from corp BPCs. Built up a sizable asset pile with 30 or 40 ships. Then about 3 months later, the alliance went to pot.
Decided to move to Sov Null (Fountain). Again flew out in a frigate and bought ratting and PvP ships on the market. Spent a month there, hated it, sold everything again and flew back to empire.
Joined Minmatar Militia and rebased to Auga (Heimatar region). Built up another pool of ships and modules over 4 months, buying from the Rens market or manufacturing locally.
Quit game for a year, came back, decided to relearn Eve by rejoining RvB. Only they had moved to Autaris (Lonetrek region). Moved my high sec base from Alentene to Autaris, mainly by selling up in the former and buying new stuff in the latter and just moving a few expensive ships.
After about 4 months, I decided to join a new corp in NPC Null (Stain) formed by pilots who had flown with me during my first stint in Stain. Only problem was that they were based 15 jumps from our former base. Flew over there and 2 corpies Jump Carrier'ed my stuff from the old base. After a few months the alliance went to pot. Quit game for a couple of months.
Came back and decided to go around the block again starting with RvB who had now relocated to Liekuri (The Forge Region), this time I largely hauled my high sec base from Auturis to Liekuri.
After 4 months went back to Minmatar Militia, slowly sold off my assets in Liekuri as I approached -10 sec status and gave up on ever returning to High sec. Meanwhile relocated my low sec base in Auga to my new corp base in Arzad.
After 6 months the Amarr flipped our system and the corp had to relocate to Huola. But by this time I owned a JF and a Carrier and in the days before jump fatigue, it was trivially easy to fire up a cyno at each end and jump back and forth repeatidly to move all your assets.
I lived in Huola for the best part of 18 months but then decided to try WH life. I joined a WH corp and waited for a suitable WH to open in Huola, then moved 20 or 30 ships in, plus several Bustard and Crane loads of assets. While waiting I sorted out my sec status and even tried some Incursions.
WH life had it's good points and I wouldn't rule out going back but I went in somewhat burnt out and didn't quite settle in. After a couple of months a WH opened to a high sec system near Jita, I moved my stuff out and quit corp. Then quit game for 10 months.
I returned to game in December and joined GalMil. After a couple of false starts I found a good location and settled in. But I have to say it is considerably more difficult to do a major relocation since the Jump fatigue changes. My main low sec base is now in the GalMil warzone, but I have a shed load of stuff still stranded in Huola.
Another shed load of stuff in the Stain base, who ships were fitted so long ago they probably aren't undockable. I had initially believed that one day I might be in the area and could simple jump in a ship or ferry them out via a WH. However, since them the Tieracide changes have come to pass and my SP has improved considerably. It would take a considerable effort and expense to bring those ships back to a decent flyable state.
Finally I have assets located at the market hubs of Jita, Amarr and Rens. Plus two carebear mission hubs which I haven't touched in years.
CTRL-Q are recruiting - Gallente Faction Warfare, Small Gang, Low Sec PvP, New Player friendly

Major Trant hiya.
Well Stain NPC around April 2010, from there went late 2010 to Querious, from there to Solitude, then to Delve, then to Querious, them to Omist, then back to Delve, then back to hisec, then to Cobalt Edge, then to Cloud Ring, then around a few locations in hisec and then Stain, then hisec, then Stain. I have stuff all over the damned place but tend to leave JC's for a while in the systems where I have a lot of stuff so I can JC back and sell after panic selling has ended.
At the moment I have a huge amount in Stain and no real effective way to move it out, WH's seem to be rather hit and miss in my last real attempt..
I have used JF's carriers and even took a dread out through a WH, but it died, LOL. JF's to Stain are not possible, only station is a bit of a kick out if people get a bump you are dead. Carriers have too short a range, so that's screwed that.
I hope that they can move all my stuff to hisec if they remove NPC stations.

I have organized my assets in regions, based on logistics, bonuses and other considerations.
I have my research operations in Gallente Space (I think 100-200 billions worth of stuff), my mining operations in Caldari space (a pair of fleets), my trading operations in the systems surrounding Jita (where the bulk of my assets are), Rens and Amarr. I also have a number of things in NPC nullsec space and used to have a fleet in sov nullsec space and a WH.

For me, it all depends on where the corp I join or been a member of depends. My last move took a week to complete because I had to evac from nulsec back to empire and it takes time to pack every thing you get. Ships, fittings, junk you name it. I recently consolidated everything I have to one station in empire as a warehouse and only take what I need to where ever I need to go.
Depends on how far you gotta move also. I even had assets in several stations in empire that are now in one station so I'm pretty beat after all that moving. 07 |
