I actually like how they announced the prices in a covert post on Twitter on a Friday so they could have the weekend as an excuse to observe the situation from a distance. Well played, CCP. Well played. Your EA executive hire is already paying for himself.

They could have observed the situation from a distance on patch day, believe me; what are we going to do? Yell on the forums? Shoot monuments? Ragequit? "Observing" all these over the weekend or on Tuesday patch day, same difference.
The early announcement was more for our benefit: give us time to sleep on it and come to terms with the inevitable, during a weekend, so we don't have to deal with stress from work at the same time as this. Also, give all the speculators some time to prepare / take a day off on Tuesday, and information on which to base their market speculations immediately after the patch. |

The prices, the extractors, the injectors. Why do you even bother? Do you really need this stuff to play the game? Want more SP? Play the game like always, make a ton of ISK and wait. Dont worry, there will be a few injectors on the market. Price is always right.

I along with every one else who plays eve would have been much happier with a very tiny price tag for the extractors. But looking at it from the reverse side. The higher the price the fewer toons will be insta-masteried.
Maybe the high price is a blessing in disguise. Or maybe it should just be highly taxed when sold via market contract or trade window. So that you can tweak your own toons for fairly little cost.
If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.
Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

Nightmare Mode? 2500 AUR Oooooooh, 1 AUR off. Yeah that was a very good guess.
Confirming, CCP is not horse.

My wife has adorable frustration over people making it hard for her to give them money. Seems to be a constant in the gaming industry and it sends her into a cute fury every time.

It is a constant everywhere....I am often shocked how often people do NOT want my money...and for some reason my wife encounters it more than I do.

They should add an Opportunity in the new player opportunities window: Use a skill injector. |

How do you figure? I thought skill queue online referred to people who kept subbed just to queue skills. They didn't want to drop the sub because that would stop training. Now if you're not playing, drop the subscription - you can always buy the SP if you decide to come back to the game. A real money sub gets you up to 1,944,000 SP/Month for less than the cost of a PLEX. A PLEX gets you the same at a higher real money rate but in game payable for someone else' real money. Both of these have 100% return on training regardless of current SP.
Injectors on the other hand mandate a portion of the cost in extractors. Considering the extractor cost alone comes to ~89% of the AUR value on a PLEX for converting at peak training rates per month over time you're looking at near PLEX cost equivalency. Note this is before ANY compensation for the actual SP content of the extractor. Essentially the sunk costs are close to that of a training cert for the same time. The SP itself would have to be sold at or under ~10% of the cost to create it via PLEX or training cert for it to be more cost effective then just buying game time via PLEX and training normally before even considering loss due to SP the character already has. Comparing it to a sub is a pure losing proposition at any SP price point. And since SQO is played AFK the time savings from injectors loses meaning.
Further the act of selling SP makes this a driver for training, not a detractor. Training SP is now worth more as passively accumulating a resource one can turn into a commodity for isk, something you aren't actively earning while playing skill queue online.
Compare that to time being completely unused and you have a character that's simply lacking compared to one that played SQO during a period of inactivity. Since combining the gains from passive training and injectors yields the highest SP over time when compared to either on top of the fact that injecting becomes less effective with existing training I don't see SQO going away or being devalued. |

Pretty much agree with this.
The only reason why a person would buy an SP injector is if they really didn't want to wait to get the SP...i.e. are very impatient. There may be some people who fall into this category, but I am not one of them...at all. I have, between all my alts, 332 million SP. I'm fine on the SP thank you.

Next poster, quote the poster above to avoid "creative editiing". My guess is 900 to 950 AUR (nine hundred to nine hundred fifty), based on how many skillponts can be obtained with 5 Gé¼/$ worth of a PLEX, and the amount of AUR buyable with 5 Gé¼/$. Next! Looks like you actually won the contest in your own thread, congrats.
Maybe I'll stick around in Eve a little longer afterall and see how this plays out. I just hope CCP doesn't go soft and lowers the prices to satisfy the eager scrubs who're still waiting in line for the day Eve finally becomes F2P.

Well, forums should be entertaining from here to Tuesday. And if they boot.ini the patch on Tuesday, or the NEX or the redeeming system, even better. They probably can't wait to push this out, thinking about money hats all the time; it's gotta have at least 1 component that's rushed.
I'm getting my entertainment value. |
