I spent the day after Christmas flying around scooping these snowballs up because I guessed most people wouldn't know what to do with them. I went broke snatching them up. It was the reason I first visited the surroundng 5 regions. I thought I had a plan. I spent time collecting them, moving them and buying them cheap from people who don't enjoy/understand long term strategy. 8 months later when the price was 20 times what I paid I let a few go on the market and recouped my investment. I made some money after that but when the real push was to start, they went off the market data base.
Over the next two months I heard the following from my petitions:
-- Nothing (1 month)
-- they still work (1 more month),
-- send your petition to these other guys, its a data base issue,
-- they work,
-- you don't understand the new contract system
-- we can't comment on a design issue,
and finally, "don't worry they will only get better with age."
Then they took them away without a word.
I understand the need to tweak the game but there is No Definition of Customer Service that covers the treatment I got.
I have played eve 15 hours a week for 18 months. I have paid $400 in subscription fees and enjoyed 1500 hours of play, I have a net worth of around 5 Billion, I don't know if that is high or low, I don't want to. I don't care how much you made. What I am completely sure of is this little project occupied my attention for a year. My time is the most precious thing I have.
See, not all of us are here to just blow stuff up, some of us like blowing stuff up and also building things long term, getting rich and using it to Blow Even MORE STUFF UP!
When I was just asking what was going on I got the cold shoulder, questions about my compentency and then an outright lie. I know it wasn't intentional, just a tech making his best guess but the result is the same.
I have to question the wisdom of storing work product in a universe where that product can be taken away with out any explaination. The more powerful my character gets the longer I play the more vulnerable I am to it being taken away like this. Thats not going to happen. I can deal with the other players but CCP holds all the cards and they aren't being careful enough with my time.
So I don't want to be melodramatic but I just can't risk my spare time, I have a job and a home, free time matters and I am not going to invest in this universe anymore. Not when they can do this. So yes, actually I am quiting. Its going to take a while to get the BPO's out of the lab and settle my affairs. I have made some friends and will help them but not give so much it ruins their idea of the value of hard work. The agents are going to keep the loyalty points I have been building.
If I had 2 weeks of forewarning instead of the run around I wouldn't bat an eye, If they had made them melt in to something I could pretend was compensation, it would have been a gas. If they had said 'suspended until we fix it' I would have waited another year.
But this is wrong and I know it.
I am not going to get ganked by the company too. Even the tough guys should at least glimpse the respect issue here.
But the big problem for me is I can no longer trust my efforts in this glacierly slow game will result in value that I will get to use.
So, ya. I am leaving and it sucks for me. But I want something tangible for the hours I put in even if its not a paycheck. Or at least where I don't get the run around.
