Edited by: Taipan Gedscho on 30/01/2007 23:45:13 i bet any of my cruisers, ccp knew very well, that snowball launchers were going to be used to trick people into getting concordokkened.
i might add, im pretty sure, whoever came up with the idea of snowball launchers found this rather funny, and i bet some other devs had a good giggle or two, too.
and i think its rather lame, that now, 2 years later, they cant stand up to their own joke anymore.
eve is (hopefully) never gonna be like WoW. but i tells ya one ting: whenever a mmorpg is making a move toward the whiners/petitioners that got tricked into something, the mmorpg is dying a little.
this little death of mmorpgs is gonna be called "wowification" or something.
our children will use that word, coz it will be a fixed part of the english language. it will be used, everytime something gets dumbed down another notch.

snowball launcher , they never felt like a natural part of Eve. You should have played Earth and Beyond. That was a game where snowballlaunchers would feel right in the game.

I agree I wasnt arround when they were given out. I purchased some because they were just bloody fun to use. If they were melted because of people getting lured into being concorddokken'd then I fear EVE is heading down a road I may not want to travel down. I have lost a few billion in ships to lag and my own stupidity, not once did I feel the need to complain or file petitions to replace my ships. I demand CCP reconstitute my Snowballs. |

Edited by: Tarantella Serpantine on 31/01/2007 08:51:08 meh, i'm not even gonna bother anymore. if you bought loads of other people, you're not gonna get anything but laughed at. if you're flaming ccp for taking them away, what makes you think they're gonna want to give you something ever again as a gift now you're hurling abuse at them? its been over a year since they were given out, you've had enough time to use them. Empire concordoken trickery indeed was something they knew of right at the beginning.. I honestly don't care that they removed them,
But,
they should have made it into an event. Mention the snowballs were made using somekind of chemical which is breaking down soonÖ and that there will be big snowball fights in 'random systems' in the 4 states (high sec otherwise some people will put 'stones' in their 'snowballs') to celebrate the comming of the Jin-Mei new year or something.
That means a great fight event for everyone, people will love ccp for doing it and it will be a nice stress test, people won't be annoyed by kicking stuff out of the database without warning, only positive stuff here...
Of course it's more work than just delete column where name contains snowball.. really a missed opportunity here, I'm amazed the event team didn't stop this..
.. too bad guys, too bad ..
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

Snowball launchers as such I coudn't care less about - what's bad is the fact that they have removed a tradeable item from the game. Have they compensated those who bought theirs for big money? People buying something for millions of isk and having it just disintigrate from under their noses is just unheard of. I'd be just a "bit" angry

They could at least have launched a guns for food program with the snowballs hehe
I always thought that those selling snowball launchers didn't deserve them in the first place, but still shocking news... And 1 or 2 devs actually mentioned TomB was in charge of christmas gifts last christmas (Oveur told him to do it).
I still think harmless goodlooking Smartbombs looking like firework would be cool...

Let's just remove the ability to lock a non-wartarget in highsec all together, removes the ability for people to get themselves concordokkened, yaaay...

stop whining. if they were removed because of people getting killed by concord, why wouldn't ccp have removed they a year ago, when people started to do that? answer: because thats not why they removed them. there are plenty of tools left ingame for you to grief noobs in empire. get. over. it. -- Love is the Law, Love under Will |
