While I don't really understand half what is going on in the chronicle I do understand that some nice stuff and things are happining for those who have invested time and effort into this storyline. Having kept minimally abreast of the situation from a distance I get the drift though.
I applaud this and the writing style of CCP Dropbear, I do however would suggest that from now on the chronicles have a better layout, this kind of non text formatting is (for me at least).
Carry on. - [yellow]English only please. Zymurgist[/yellow] |

Tie this in with the descriptions on the new implants and it does hint at the future possibility of player made implants. Maybe the next expansion will be named Cyberious... since Cyberia is already taken. |

His name has been about as big as the the billboards at the jump gates can make it! But think about the keyword: Neuropsychology. wrap that up in a warm pod-pita, throw some Tech 2 cuccumber sauce, and you've got a shiny new implant gyro.... (sorry - it's late and i'm starving)
I don't think this is just advertising for what we already know is out there. I've followed Dropbears work on the deepspace Sleeper story for a bit, and he's very good at giving you enough reeses candies to keep you walking on the trail. I think there's something very fun coming up for the goo-riders INSIDE the pod. which would make those new implant-inclusive killmails so much more interesting.... just sayin'...
I think you have the right idea. Let's not forget Dropbear's last commentary about pod goo.

Could we please, pretty please, have the title of the chronicle in the html < title > tag of its page ? I'm using Readability to send the new Chronicles to my Kindle, so I can read them on my way to work, and the absence of the title in a proper way on the chronicle page is making it needlessly painful.
TIA! |

Kaito Haakkainen wrote:Enjoyed the chronicle, but I was under the impression that the goal was to make more of the OOC data available IC, not to add more OOC data we cannot use. It's not OOC knowledge. Not really. It's things that people have already guessed at. The problem is, it's OOC confirmation of IC theories that cannot be proven IC. Anything brought up from this point forward is tainted by this chronicle. Looking at a lot of the Arek'jaalan project, I can honestly say there's quite a bit of it that is tainted by the OOC knowledge presented in chronicles. Not normally something I am opposed to, but this chronicle was kind of a kick in the teeth to some ideas I was moving forward with.
As I've told Dropbear before, I'm fine with meta knowledge staying meta. The problem is when it's blurred to the point that it makes the IC advances completely moot. It's a whole circular logic thing that kind of defeats the whole purpose, in my opinion, of trying to even attempt the Arek'jaalan project in-game.
That's my take though. As I had already made tentative steps to prove the exact things brought up in this recent chronicle literally days before it was posted... well, guess it's back to watching from afar.
Give us something to interact with, and I'll be happy. Site One is nice, but it's not dynamic. Add to that another chronicle that pretty much says, "We're playing in this side of the sandbox and you guys play in that side," pretty much makes me want to walk.
That's my view on things though. Since I'm pretty much only in the game for the Arek'jaalan stuff at this point, it feels like a big sucker punch to the gut. I'll live though, and I still love you guys! I just might be a bit (more) scarce from now on. |

Quote:GÇ£Yes, that is certainly the reputation you cultivate. Anyhow, the specifics are this: Acting under the pretense of an arms race, the empires are about to release a number of new Tech II modules and capsule upgrades. The technology behind these developments is Sleeper in origin, and most of it was developed from material identified during the Vitrauze Agreement as practically worthless. If the origin of these modules and improvements were ever to become public knowledge, this agreement would need to be rewritten, something everyone would rather avoid.GÇ¥
GÇ£Most interesting, Senator. Thank you for sharing this. I think I see how we can factor in here, too. Perhaps though, before going any further, now would be a good time to exchange the data and verify everything. If you can do that, and everything checks out, then I can promise you we will start pushing on the first site immediately.GÇ¥
Beyond all the chronicle-background on upcoming Crucible features being introduced ...
Did anyone else read the passages in the quote above and go, "Hang on, WTF?". To me that seems to be saying that in order to cover up the 'pretense' of an arms race between empires, the signatories to the Vitrauze agreement intend to use the Arek'Jalaan project as the figureheads for the Sleeper origin tech that will be introduced in coming months. In return, Arek'Jalaan gets ... tacit empire support? Intel on groups intending to cause it harm? What else?
Or am I completely off the mark with this? |

One can take good stories for granted; but when you dichotomize it , you then spot all those little details that make up the most descriptive tales.

I have bugs on most of the major communications hubs, get a good bit of intel from unsuspecting people. /* Decent way of introducing ooc content when it is introduced in a chronicle, especially considering all the cpu power in a ship, you may not be able to do real time cracking but if you had the data log of the convo you could easily get the info, notice this took a couple weeks after things which were introduced. This is entirely plausible from a data analysis perspective into using a brute force decryption technique. /* Love the chronicle and as someone that does some RP in game they add more to it, haven't had as much time recently as I liked to. But with a game as big as eve there are several methods to RP and gain the information one needs or to even speculate it, passing notes to the gm and getting a response in table top gaming is sorta like using the books or chronicles in game. ^^ |

Or am I completely off the mark with this? Simply put, the Empires are getting around CONCORD restrictions by blatantly exploiting Capsuleer greed. This Gallente Senator is trying to pull a fast one on Tukoss by offering an "inside scoop" on impending changes (both good and bad) for an undisclosed "favor" in return. It's not that hard to determine from the context, however.
In short, the Senator is saying, "We want you guys to be the front for Sleeper innovations in return for help in clearing up red tape so you can build infrastructure. Also, keep any unwanted attention from us, will ya'? It's in all our best interests."
The only reason the Senator is even offering the deal is because the Arek'jaalan project is asking questions it shouldn't. Meaning, if certain pieces of evidence were ever assembled, the Empires would lose their little game of cloak and dagger and perhaps face repercussions from CONCORD/Jove/whoever else was left out of the secret. Though considering the source, I would perhaps suggest that the Gallente and Amarr might get the worst of it.
Also, just going to throw this out there, "DUST 514". Because honestly, if you look at all the evidence, there's only one potential source for such a logical leap in technology (at least in the EVE universe...). |

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. The interesting part to me, though, was the idea that the empires are "acting under the pretense of an arms race", implying that all the military buildup - both faction war/militias and otherwise - is a facade agreed upon by someone or a group running overwatch (CONCORD? SCT/Jove? Whoever helped open up Anoikis?) on all four empires. Whether the empires actually realise it's a pretense or not is debatable.
Then again, Dropbear does tend to throw little 'possible' hints in to his writing and sometimes I think they're just there to inspire whatever conspiracy theories we tend towards. |

An arms race is different than a war. Read "Particle Tracks" again. Specifically:
Quote:"I invite you to consider the design history of the Talos" Seriously, it's really interesting! Though of course, this all pales in comparison to the fact that Hilen Tukoss has been a naughty boy and has not been fully up front with his "oblivious" Capsuleer research compatriots.
EDIT:
To CCP Dropbear:
Well played, and you do of course know this means war! |

Let no one be confused - Tukoss is not running a charity, appearances or no. There have been a number of opportunities for Tukoss to bring OOC information into the IC realm and he has chosen not to do so. A particularly obvious example of this is his relationship with Lianda Burreau, which he has been silent about. This suggests that his silence is IC (Psst: He's lying to you).
Meanwhile, here is "the design history of the Talos", from the ship Info property box:
Quote:The Talos began in YC 110 as a R&D concept by ORE. Conceived as a patrol craft for mining operations in lawless space, the Talos would have been abandoned completely were it not adopted by the Black Eagles, a black-ops branch of the Gallente government. The Black Eagles stripped the Talos of non-essential systems and bolted on battleship-class weapons, creating a quick-strike craft ideal for guerilla action.
The Talos remained a military secret until YC 113, when it was introduced into wider circulation as a third tier battlecruiser. Today the Talos is manufactured by Duvolle Labs, who modified the original ORE designs to bring it in line with Gallente standards. |
