just a quick warning about vista voice, I have read on a few sites about that if you ahve voice coommands turned on, on your pc some one can shout reeboot and vista will.
and i was thinking that if you have ts set to live mic and you have vista voice commands turned on then, an enemey spy could jump on your ts shout shutdown and you can wave bye bye to some of your fleet.
I know most people wont turn on vistas voice commands or even have vista but as tiem goes buy it is somethign to watch out for.

I cant get a MIC boost option in Vista, sux large.

Has there been an increase in lag due to the increased Bandwidth usage by the client due to this?
Or is it minimal?
Haven't had a chance to make a copy of my client files yet to test it out.
Also Is the DB of the testserver going to be updated anytime soon.

yah yah wrong thread but duno where the rightone is.
Hows it going to work with multiple clients?
Like if I am mining away with a group while seiging a pos somewhere am I going to be able to listen/talk to both? hows that gonna work.

Lol, I was tearing my hair out trying to get eve to work and it turns out this was the solution all along.

glad i sticked with win2k pro for this long tbh , i managed to skip paying for a new "skin" 
havent had to miss out on any games that arent win2k pro suported either
even supreme commander works on win2k and with sound and all it takes is a few correctly placed dll's

I am not seeing a cache folder in my Eve folder. I have never launched the game successfully so I'm assuming I don't have one yet?? What should I do?

Look in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache for your pref.ini file.
That were I found mine after I reinstalled eve. You will have to turn on show hidden files and folders to see the AppData folder

The problem stays for windows 2000 prof users. Also if you voiceenabled=0 you can not log you second acoount in on the same pc. No corp and no alliance chat channels.An other over windows 2000 prof it wil be supported till 2023.
So what is more imported voice account or loosing numerous players who play with windows 2000 prof.

Eve (2 installations) has been working ok for me on Vista until today.
Ok this morning, but both installations crashed this afternoon until I added the voiceenabled=0 line to the pref.ini file.
wtf CCP? Its not like Vista is some bolt from the blue. You've had months of availability to it as part of Microsoft Developer program!

The only part of MSDN CCP uses is the chapter on "bad database management".
And enabling this crap without fixing it first - crashing a brand new operating system is just ... n.a.z.i.

Vista is a step backwards tbh...until service pack 2 comes out...like months from now Vista doesnt do anything noticeable special over Windows XP, oh, apart from the fact that the security on Vista is heavily overdone.

I don't have Vista, but there doesn't seem to be an XP voice chat thread (maybe I'm the only one with problems). But When I click Join Audio, nothing happens. If I click again, it still says Join Audio, not (as others have described) Leave Audio. I have a SoundMax audio build onto the MB of my Asus NCCH-DL. I tried both mfgr disk and current drivers. Audio works just fine in every other regard from In Game Audio to Skype. Any Ideas?

adding that line to prefs.ini did not fix my problem. I still get a blue framework problem.
Edit - I fixed it. For whatever reason it wasen't using the prefs.ini file in the CCP folder. It also saved the same file elsewhere on my system and was using it from there. So once I edited that file it worked.

I am getting this CCP Blue Frame work has stoipped working and then that dep thing comes up. i have gone through the settings and selected eve to be exzempt but its still crashing. As for the cahe file thing you said to change i dont have a cache folder for some reason i have uninstalled and reinstalled this thing 4 times and still no folder all i have are these four (bin, lib, res, script) and that file you have listed isnt in any of those. HELP hehe

You have it, it's just in a different place. I don't remember where off the top of my head but just run a search(make sure to check the box to make it search non indexed locations) and you'll find it.

This will fix the problem!
ok there are two places you have to change in pref file
C:\Program Files{X86)\CCP\EVE\Cache\Folder
and
C:/users/yourusername/appdata/local/virtual/program files/ccp/eve
find both of these files and click on pref folder, add this under the username, it should be last!
voiceenabled=0
save as you exit and be sure you do it as administrator.
after you have changed this in both places eve will work again!
good luck!
then Vista will work

still cant locate those files i did advanced search and getting no matchs found i even tried breaking them up some and still nothing this is really mind boggling why these ccp files would be in another place beside where they belong in the stupid ccp folder.

make sure you check the box to "include non-indexed, hidden and system files (might be slow)".
And then just select your drive where EVE is installed from the drop down. Let is search the entire drive. Not just the folders where you think the file is.
And the file you want to search for is prefs. Just type that. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now how do I disable the sunbeech so it stops taking the additional resources it's been gobbling up since they put it in?

This is in THEORY. Chances that it will happen, i 0%.
It will take the audio to be very clear, and that you use speakers.
And it wont "just" shutdown.
Vivox works fine on Vista here

Just as a testing fyi (as this is stickied), EVE voice does NOT work under linux either with wine (.9.33) or with cedega (any version). The client under wine will hang when entering game from the character selection menu. Under cedega, the client DOES load successfully, but local and corporate channels are not available.
The fix, as in the non 2000 (sp4) and vista is to add "voiceenabled=0" on the line following the user name.
This allows the client to work normally, but without vivox.
Pardon me for being a bit sarcastic, but this feels like multiple "tiers" which iirc CCP said would NEVER happen.
This testing will apply to the macintel version of wine/crossover as well...at a guess. (no mac to test it with.)
