What sorts of abandoned ships have you found across the galaxy? What was in them? Post any interesting/fun things you may have found :)

Before probes were out, ppl used to leave their ships in space pretty often. Back in those days I found tons of haulers full of ammo, couple BSs and cruisers/frigs.

Velators and Shuttles mostly, but I did pick up a Battleship or Battlecruiser which - for some stupid reason - was named "Don't blow up plz"

Full T2 Fitted Raven, Half T2 Fitted Raven. Cerberus, Apoc x 2, T2 Dominix, many many many safespots containing giant secure cans filled with faction items (And they ALWAYS put a damn password on :/)
I find secure containers using the old manual SS *****ing technique. POS' ruined all that though

Does that still work? I vaguely recall them saying that giant cans won't show up on scanners anymore.

Hapled to probe out a SS that was home to a Raven and a Badger full of names mods, and most recently I probed me out 4 abandoned hammerhead 2's, not bad for 2 mins work.

our corp found 3 secure cans containing compounds and overseer tiers which came to just over 1.6billion isk
they belonged to a 'plex farmer so 5mins later they were destroyed
i wish they would drop salvage wrecks so you could atleast get something

When i was in north our gang found TCF spare ships stored in safespot. Abt 30-50 (?) ships including 10+ battleships, multiple cruisers/frigs/haulers/shuttles + abt 10 secure cans (we just popped em - prolly full of ammo and stuff).
There was a vid of it some time ago...

Once, in the good ole, bad ole pre probe days I found a tempest, blew it up. and got 2 kill mails. "So thats where I left it, after all that Port!"

You can board and take any empty ship, provided you can fly it 
It doesn't matter if the pilot that owns it is online or off, as long as it's empty.

Just the other day in a deep safe in 0.0 I found a vigil with 3x 1mn mwd (and 3x stabs).
It must been sitting there for ages consider how long ago it was that multiple mwd/ab where nerfed.

A Scorpion with tech-2 fitting. I found it without probes, because it was on an inline safe between a planet and a gate. I was in my stiletto and just warped that way several times myself and made bookmarks mid warp before it and behind it, did the same when warping between those bms and after some time I had pinned it down and landed within the grid. after 40 minutes or so ^^)
Then before the probe changes I found a strange fitted mammoth that has probably been on a deepsafe for ages. Had 10mn AB and 1mn MWD fitted, probably from the times when you could switch them on at once.
Well, some weeks later someone stole my own ratting raven from a deepspace, also before the probe changes. Hehe. The pilot left a shuttle behind, so I sent him '1337' credits for busting a deepsafe.

Played around with scanprobes for two days.
Besides loads of shuttles and other useless stuff found a covetor and an itty5. Can't fly these, so a friend came over and picked up the covetor for me, it had some stripminers on it. With the itty we didn't bother, it was empty, so we just left it there.
Then I stopped searching for ships, because I can make lots more isk doing other stuff, but was fun trying it out for once.

Geddons, Ravens, Apocs, Cerberus x1, Sacrilege x1, lots of misc frigs and destroyers, once found a Gila just parked in front of a station in a 0.6 system with no owner. That was really weird.. I had np jacking it in any case
In general, I have found a heck of a lot more than I have stated about, I do find a rather high number of amarr ships. Dunno why...
Its weird what people are willing to park between points a & b.

Corp mate found http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Lancer/999(1).png which we went along to help "rescue" got to admit one of the only time I have really really not wanted to die cause of how embaressed i would have been to post the killmail... although saying that the Raven had a worse setup shield tanked and had CPR's in the lows so in effect the XL shield booster did about the same boost as a medium one.

ships i stole from safespots: t1 fitted dominix, badger mk1 with a refining array in it, 2x executioner with cloak and t2 ab 
ships i killed on safespots (because i couldn't move them to the next station): badger mk2 that dropped a covetor (sold the covetor to a guy passing by ), a retriever, countless empty haulers (normally the good loot/fitting dies though  )

A Vagabond. Was at a gate in jita when someone decided to eject from there vagabond. Don't ask me why i just saw a pod and a vagabond. At the time i was in an interceptor so I mwd at it and got in it \o/. Docked it came back in a shuttle and got in my ranis.
I love free vagabonds >:] Also found a t2 raven in a ss. At the time i thought it was the guy that was in local but when I probed it noticed it was empty lol \o/

best I found was a covetor(back when we were still in an alliance)
was funny tho
couldn't fly it, was trying to get a corp/alliance to come get it when the alliance we were at war with thought it was me, probed it down and stole it themselves
I was sitting in a Helios about 200km off it when they did, commenting on their fleet needed to steal a barge

almost everything else I probed down was either a corpmate going "I lost my fighters" or "Hostile logged off here, get him"
