Ive asked this question twice on the patch review forum but nobody seem to know, so im appealing to the larger audience of the general disscussion.
The way i see it, giving out module bps is one thing but what about ships, especially the 2 BS original BP's i have bought within the last 3 months, both cost me about 1.2 billion each and ive researched them up to ME5, as such ive came nowhere close to breaking even and wont for another few months probably. So what will happen to htem now with the approach of tech 2.
Will i be able to research these original Bs bps up to tech lvl 2?, or will they become useless? or how will the BS bps work??
Tnx

After playing on chaos a bit recently it may even be worse than that.
All tech 2 BP take a % damage per run and when that dam get to 100% no BP
E.G. a Shield booster BP (cant rem type) took 3% dam per run.
Dont know if/when this will reach tranq but if it does it will def have a impact on prod

so if something has 1% then you can only make 100 of those ? and if its .5% 200?
lol i bet some ppl will be still sticking with tech2..
btw how will ammo BP's work? is there tech2 ammo bp's?
i mean come on it shouldnt be so for ammo or else thats just plan stupid and im going to go all laser support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

I think all tech 2 items need the tech 1 counterpart item to produce. Therefore, if you have the tech 1 BP you can make the tech 2 item cheaper than someone who has to buy the tech 1 item.

I wouldn't look for tech 2 battleships any time soon... even if they exist they will cost a FORTUNE until there is a reasonable number of builders. And even then I'd say they'd cost more than a current tech 1 battleship...
So you'll still be selling ships to the majority of players for a long time, since most people won't want to spend 200 million ISK or whatever on a tech 2 battleship (or at least not until they've already had a tech 1 battleship for a while). Now when tech THREE comes out and we get customizable BPs... THEN the market for "standard" battleships may be in trouble. But that's a looooong time away.

I disagree. It has been stated that tech2 items may well require a built tech1 item (ship module) in its production. Additionally the damage you speak about is acssociated with wear on the ingredients such as R.db (Orvolle labs) etc.. Nowhere has it been indicated so far that the BP itself is damaged.

afaik you can REPAIR a bp back to its original status as well.... so as long as you look out you can avoid that.

Because the T1 item will still be required until thier is a one stop BP for T2 items which the devs signalled there would be, but BS's for example might be a way away, the T1 BP's are still valuable assuming the proliferation of BPC's is bought under control.
The owners of orig BP's would be well advised to raise BS prices and BPC owners to use them for the purpose they are really designed, self build for corp use, to stabilise the market. Otherwise T2 is irrellevant in the making of T1 orig BP's worthless. The owners selling cheap BPC's are doing that all by themselves already.

So what new ships will be in Castor?
Any Variant BS's... seems that there is a majority of people who read there woudl be Variant BSs from a DEV chat in Tech2 patch but others seem to think those are tech2 ships... which i was understanding that they were not... just variants.
Any info on this would be great.

Argh... Battleships, Battleships, Battleships is all I hear!
There are 4 new types of Elite frigates coming out - EW Frigates, Light Combat Frigates, Heavy Combat Frigates and Mining (Deep Core) Frigates - 29 New Frigates in all.
There are also 4 new types of Elite Cruisers planned - Point Defense Cruisers, Support Cruisers, Patrol Cruisers, Battlecruisers.
No new Battleships planned as yet..
I know if may shock you guys, but you can play the game in things other than a battleship!

Umm as it stands now, if you dont have a battleship, the game's not that playable, and worst of all, you can't compete :P
Hopefully they do something cool with frigaes. I'd LOVE to get into a frigate so sweet can hangar my scorpion for it.

Actually... I've found quite the opposite.. Now that I have a Battleship I find myself wondering what my next goal could possibly be...
And yes, before anyone starts flaming, I have PvP'ed in it, I've done agent missions up to my neck, I've traded, Bounty hunted, Mined, everything I can think of... I'm part of an excellent corp, in an excellent alliance so what am I doing now?
The only thing i have left to do.... wait

the downside about that is when New people come in.. they will not stand a chanse to compete but to join bigger and bigger corps... only a few Newbe corps will exist! and that is bad in someways
