Edited by: Moses Browning on 05/02/2007 02:15:25 I need to kill angels. I don't have shield skills. My options are: Dominix Typhoon
I need help with an armor tank that I KNOW will work against angels. It is easy to tank the 3x 650k spawns. I am talking about the BIG spawns: 1.7m, 1.85m spawns.
Is there a tank that can manage it?
When the bs rats go long, using NOS seems to be a big problem, thus cap is a problem even though my cap skills are very good.
My current domi setup: 3x heavy nos, tractor, planning for 2 salvagers AB, 4x fb10 2x LAR II, 2x exp, kin, therm, cap power relay
However, I have problems tanking some spawns (3x 1.7m comes to mind)
Would I be better off kicking the CPR and one of the LAR II, and putting in 2x EANM?
Or would I be better off training shield skills to all 3? If shields: what's a decent domi shield setup (again, specifically looking at angels)?

What rigs are you using? A CCC rig could replace that CPR in low and allow a spot for another hardener of whatever type.

Edited by: Moses Browning on 05/02/2007 02:29:52 I'm poor. No rigs.
As I salvage, I guess I'll build some, etc.

I'd stick with the domi, it's base armor resists are more helpful than the phoon's.
Can't really comment much on your setup, it's pretty much the same as what I would use (I drop an explosive and use an EANM II). Are they T2 hardeners? I've found that those help bucketloads. ----------------

Since you're salvaging anyways, you could probably get most of the materials yourself: 101 Burned Logic Circuit (pretty easy to get tons of these like all circuits) 27 Melted Capacitor Console (sort of rare, depending on what you're fighting, can be bought for under a mil though, and you don't need that many). 88 Tripped Power Circuit (see burned logic, ciruits are easy to get)
That is with minimum skills and an unresearched BPO (BPOs cost 112.5 K, nothin')
If you know a good manufacturer and someone with a researched blueprint, you can cut a lot of that out. CCCs are >43 mil on the market, but since you can easily get the circuits yourself, you're looking at about a 25 mil pricetag if you bought all the consoles and don't know anyone with manufacturing skills and have a terrible BPO.
Thats, what? Two decent level 4 missions, depending on luck?

Edited by: B0rn2KiLL on 05/02/2007 03:56:23 why not setup a nano dom with an mwd, and 3 drone range augmentors instead of nos? if your having trouble tanking ur syain ur poor dude, distance\speed tank, kill everything and then make a salvaging run through the belts.
i know for a fact that my ogre Is with bs 4 and heavies 4 killed a 6 mil overiser, needed some time though but still, shouldnt have issues with 1,8 spawns or even faction. ---
new sig, Hijack it and ill eat u. *Imaran hands B0rn2KiLL a fork - Come get some!11

phoon is probably better; 4 torps and heavy drones are better than just the heavies from a domi. depends on skills your personal preference, of course. the 3 bs / 3 bc spawns put out loads of damage; torps will let you start killing while you move into nos range and wait for full aggro so you can launch drones. the long range drone setup is useless imo, if you've been hunting them then you know how quirky angels can be and they like to run or switch to shooting drones if you get too far off the spawn point. if you usually hunt the same system, it may be worth the time to make 200km jump in bm's. then you can warp down to a roid near the spawn, start nos'ing right away and have shorter missile flight time.

For the domi i wouldn't bother with hybrids vs angels. Use AC. The lack of a damage mod won't matter when you can choose the right ammo type. For the phoon use torps not cruise, stack the BCUs not gyros.
I shield tank my AC domi vs angels. Love the setup.

I am also in a domi setup for angels here is my setup - and its primarily chaining triple seraphim/cherubim spawns
His 3 Heavy Dim NOS, 1 DLA, 1 Tractor 1 Salvager Mids 1 Drone Navigation Computer 4 Cap Recharger 2s Lows 2 LAR2s, 2 Exp Harderner 2s, 1 Therm Hardener 2, 1 Kin Hardener 2, 1 EANM2 Rigs 2 CCC 1 Nano Pump
I am thinking of tweaking it abit however as although i can run BOTH reppers perma with the nano pump increasing rep amount, I rarely have to even touch the 2nd repper on any of the spawns (only sometimes on seraphims due to their EM dmg).
So might drop a repper for either a DC2 or another EANM2

Please do list the setup...
How do you get into a proper range? Don't you need all 5 mids for the tank?

2 PDS II 2 Nano 3 Gyro II
Most angels do the 'keep range' for you, but even those that don't aren't all that fast, and you can hit them at 25km or so. AB is too slow and MWD hurts the tank too much, so i don't bother.

"cheap" phoon able to tank triple bs spawns 1.8 mils (angels)
4 arb siege launchers , 2 e500 nos , 1 tractor , 1 salvager 1 named ab (to get up close and personal) , 3 f-b10 cap rechargers 1 vestment lar , 2 n-type exlosive hardners , 1 n-type kinetic , 1 n-type thermal , 1 beta cpr , one 1600 tungsten plate
5 bersekers and 5 lights t2 if posible in the bay
for rigs , u can get 2 cap recharge ones and put a bcu in the lows instead the beta cpr or somethin like that

I tried tanking Angel belt spawns in a megathron (tried long range and short range) and while I could do it, it was incredibly slow. I got a raven and with really crap shield and missle skills I was killing/tanking the angels with absolutely no problem and probably 2 or 3 times as fast. The npc's where I was were variable quality (largest would be malakim, but some days nothing but BC's would turn up) so while in the mega I was getting an average 5-7mil per hour, and after I changed to the Raven I was getting 10-25mil per hour (chaining malakims, thrones, nephilims etc)
Alas, poor risk vs reward, I knew you well |

A domi shoudl tank angels very easily:
2 heavy nos
5x Cap rechargers
2x Large armor reps 2x Explosive hardners 1x Kinetic hardner Damage control CPR
TBH that should be total overkill, since I used that setup to tank lvl 4 missions semi-sucesfully. -----

Get
Shield Management IV Shield Operation IV Shield Upgrades IV Shield Compensation IV
Should take approximately one week
5 Salvagers 1 tractor beam 1 LSB II 1 SBA 2 Exp 1 Kin Hardener 7 PDU'S
Use Berserkers.
That's what I'm using anyways...It worked fine so far. Didn't stumble upon any 3 x 1.85M spawns yet.

I was strongly under the impression that angels did all types of damage... though while ANGELS do all types, certain angels only do a few types. Ie. there are some angels that do Exp + kin, and some that do therm + kin, and some others that do EM + something else, etc.

Mids 2 Omni directional tracking links 1 Large cap booster 2 Cap chargers (best names that isint rediculously expensive)
Lows 1x LARMII 1x MARMII 2x Explosive hardner 1x Kinetic Hardner 1x Thermal Hardner 1x Cap power Relay
Drones 5x Sentry 5x Heavy 5x lights backups (take more of anything you normally lose, should be nothing tho).
Angel cartel bloccade (lvl4), I can finish the whole thing in 1 go without ever having to warp out once. *note* Must kill the EM missile launching battleships AS SOON AS THEY APPEAR. Its the only thing that will cause you a problem.
