personally, i think that if you find a logged off ship, it should be treated as empty , IE, you can board it. does a number of things for the game imo. 1) you log in combat, no insurance payout for you 2) Gives the agressors a chance to get more loot 3) Might give people more of an incentive to not log out 4) If a freighter logs in a bubble, you just might get it before it dissappears so logging really will be a risk for you.
prolly more pluses but cba to think them up

Originally by: Venix I think its sad that i can log off in a system where i have sov, at my large deathstar pos with massive amounts of guns and hardners, and die because a cloaked hostile was at my tower waiting for me to log off before dt. I dont like logging in an outpost due to getting camped ...

Personally, I'm less concerned with aggro timers. If you want to be able to log off in deep space, it is because there is no friendly infrastructure nearby to help you; you are in harms way. This means that there is a chance that someone is out to get you and any request for more lenient logoff game mechanics will always have to be wighed against the request (read bloodlust) of those that want to harm you.
However. If there is friendly infrastructure present, be it POS or mothership, it should be possible to disappear instantly.
It may be that this can be solved by adding safe logoff to the refit field projected by ship maintenance arrays and carriers/motherships. When logging in, you reappear at the exact spot you logged, POS/MS or no.
(A mothership should not be able to safely log off ppl if it has an agression timer itself, lest there be mighty abuse by losing fleets.)

It can't be that hard to detect if you're in an active POS bubble when you log and simply not engage emergency warp in that case. Same with if you're cloaked, when you log, you should simply stay put and cloaked until your ship disappears.

With regards to logging out in POSes... I think that the agression timer should not matter when you are inside the force field. If you go in with 10 mins agro timer left... You can log off and dissapear in 1 minute. The timer could still tick down there but just not affect the log off process when inside a POS's FF.
I quite like the idea of being able to disable the warp out function but your ship could be bumped out by a corrupt corp mate though.
As for disconnecting with a cloak active... Having it deactivate when logging off is really irritating for me... Especially when POS scouting lol.

yeah i agree with these suggestions cloaked ships should not decloak on logging off this is a possable fix for ships logging at a pos. just fit a cloak use it and log. concerning the titans kills a visable aggro timer in 0.0 is a total must. while d2 openly admits there titan loss was a valid kill. if underhanded and cowardly. a visable aggro timer would have negated this.

1. Agression timer MUST be visible 2. Ship shouldn't emergency warp out of POS shield. 3. Safe logoff in space must be implemented. Like press button, and 30,29,28,.....1,0 sec to safe logoff timer.

OK, like "j0sephine" allready said, there is the 15 minute PvP agression-timer thingy. I guess no one has anything to say against this mechanics.
The timer for leaving the server after logging off with no aggro is ONLY ONE MINUTE.
Try it yourself if you don't belive it.
Beeing myself a CovertOps-Pilot with decent Scanning-Skills (40 seconds that is) it's nearly impossible to catch someone who logs out, even if you stay right beside him, when he does.
I calculated, that with max skills (CovertOps 5, Signal Aquisition 5) and two scantime-reduction rigs, you can get down to 34 seconds. Let's even say your probe needs 30 seconds to deliver the point to warp to, even then it's a very tiny timeframe, to get the target.
So I don't think, that there should be done anything. .

i guess you dont live in 0.0. We have several scanners who can scan in about 20 seconds, and get free kills all the time. I myself have been killed by a logoff/probe out in a system where there was only 1 hostile and 20+ blues. A hostile can just sit in a cloaker, wait for someone to log off, probe, scan, kill, and even pod. I have done it to people and it is totally annoying. This really needs to be looked at. Sorry for telling ya, that I actually live in 0.0 m8.
And You cannot scan within 20 secs. Simply not possible to lower the scantime this far.
Do the math .

waa waa waa someone blew up my ship when I logged aggro'd. its really hard to check killmails or logs (or to just keep track of time) and log off safe from aggro. I understand this takes a huge amount of skill and concentration, but those who can pull it off usually get away fine.
