This thread is getting silly.
I really shouldn't have to justify this but I will.
There are very few girls playing eve, it is a fair bet that every one of us has been on the receiving end of a nasty/pervy comment or two.
We don't complain about this we just accept that it's a small idiot minority and move on. Why shouldn't there be an area that ladies can congregate safe in the knowledge that no one will say "what colour are your knickers?"?
There are hundreds of channels where people with something in common gather and no one is going to complain that the minmatar knitting league have a password on theirs.
So please boys back off, no your name's not down and no your not coming in, if it bothers you so much go create a room called "The Albany Club" and go sulk in there.

I think people are blowing this all way out of proportion.
"As for the Women play the game like it's some kind of chat channel" comment - that irks me slightly. The following is not directed at the lady that made it, it's just me typing out loud.
Contacts in eve are vital, without people to people interaction there would be no one set to blue. There is a hellava lot of stuff going on backstage that has to happen before Pew-Pew can happen (unless you are a solo pirate obviously) I guarantee all your ceos are greeted with a myriad of blinking lights the second he/she turns his/her Eve on.
I am the senior recruitment managerr (title typo) in my corp, so I spend 90% of my game time sat in station talking to people. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I am a woman. I'm just quite good at making lists is all.
Without us admin types everyone would be sat in a corp with 5 mates in empire. /defense of playstyle
