I'm more interested in building a Citadel in Deadspace than anyplace else.
The idea of an attacking fleet that MUST warp to an accelerator gate and then once in deadspace, they have to slow boat a few thousand kilometers will add importance to speed and navigation skills. Each player will have to literally coordinate with the rest of their own fleet, and nav in the right directions and times in order to evade a defending fleet.

Don't dead space pockets move?
- FW plexes move - Missions sites only last as long as the mission - Escalation sites ??
Not sure how long an escalation site lasts after it has been activated, though it doesn't seem great for a defending fleet.
Overall, seems like even if there are permanent dead space locations, anchoring a citadel 1000km from any structure in a dead space pocket would render it pretty much useless anyway. |

They do, but I'm wondering if the Citadel will move also, or vanish into thin air, or will it be left in real space?
The advantage of it being anchored in deadspace is not the proximity to structures, but the inaccessibility of it to others. Attacking fleets just can't warp in on it, because they could be detected and a intercept fleet can get to them first. Not just storming the castle, but to have to out navigate or fight through an enemy army first, before ever getting to the castle.

Do you not have any functional understanding of how deadspace mechanics work?
You may as well have said that you're more interested in building a Citadel in Narnia than anywhere else.

It will be left in space where it was anchored.
Yes, I understand what you see as an advantage, but it also has huge disadvantages, since defenders/user soc the citadel also can't warp to it directly. Since citadels can't be anchored closer than 1000km (currently based on SiSi feedback) from a structure, the citadel will be difficult for everyone to get to, no matter who they are. That will render it useless as a Citadel since it will be so difficult to use.
Just put up a Medium if you are worried and defend it for 3 hours a week. If you are so concerned about the risk of attack for 3 hours each week, then perhaps a Citadel is not a good structure to consider using. |

I know there is a place called Devil's Site in Caldari space. It is permanent hacking location in high sec behind deadspace gate. There are hacking cans inside, and also another deadspace gate to another room. But can you place Citadels in deadspace?

@Nana and Starrakat: thanks. Good to know there are some permanent.
Now two other questions:
1. How big is the dead space? If I'm 1000km off the warpin point, is that still in the deadspace 2. Can you anchor a citadel in deadspace
I'd assume yes on both, but to SiSi to check.
Most useless place to anchor a citadel but still good to know. |

tbh what you describe sounds possible to me but also sounds like an exploit, if CCP wants to place the citadels on the overview this mean they want everyone to be able to warp to it without penalties |

I'll check now (edit: apparently I won't. SiSi is down) |

It would be interesting to place your citadel in a pocket to survive the first vulnerability phase more easily :) |

Warpable from overview directly (but a deadspace pocket would make that impossible) |

As far I remember citadels show on overview based on the granted access party, if It is alliance, corp or self otherwise you have to probe the citadel location.

Would make sense. Else overview (which is already crowded) will be filled with things you can warp to. And it would be more inline with the POS system of today. Given the size of the things its probably not hard to probe them down. Moderate skills and 8 AU probes will likely get a decent hit, if not find them completely. |

Hmm. So they're going to need to be 1000 kilometers from another structure. Well, what about planets? Guess I could go onto ze test server and find out.

no dead space pockets don't move, there are permanent ones, just all of the ones for scan sites and missions are just a spawn for that as it wouldn't make much sense for a scan site/mission to be a perma site as it would be camed

Or they simply wont allow the ships that are required to drop such structure to enter dead space. |
