dudes... the titan... it's a farking TITAN. You wanna kill it like it's a battleship or sommat? Go play CS ffs...
I agree, it's a TITAN. It's supposed to be near impossible to kill without the aid of dreads, BS's and possibly another Titan. I have to laugh at all the EVE pvper's who flame carebears and then complain when faced with a genuine challenge. Get over it and adjust your strategy!

I didn't know a titan could jump w/o near full capacitor.

It should be hard to take down a titan - very hard. But it shouldn't depend on a all-or-nothing situation, which means it shouldn't depend on one thing only - does it get away in time or not.
That is valid for all the ships.

A Titan can jump at about 30-35% capacitor with a good level of Jump Drive Operation trained. This is the point where it's recharge rate is maximal as well.

and he could do that remotely no need to warp in.
Kills the support fleet for the dreads allowing your force to jump in on them and finish them off after the opponents support has scattered or exploded. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

This is a very good observation about Eve. Perhaps planetary interaction will change this. However I fear what will appen, is that to make a planet valuable, it will have to generate a huge amount of ISK. And knowing CCP, they'll only have planetary interaction on no sec or low sec, where players a gimped with sec status losses.
Back to the point, ships matter to people more than anything, it's all about the ships and PVP in the end. That's not such a bad thing, but it is rather shallow.
Perhaps though titans being difficult to kill is good, simply because it allows a group to have something industructable, something that can not be challenegd. When a few groups have these things it may lead to stability in no-sec. Group A knows it can never completly defeat group B and vise versa, so they come to some level of agrement and borders stabalize.
No-sec seems to enjoy being in a state of never ending warfare, and I don't see that going away, but perhaps wars will become more akin to border skirmishes and not the desert horse and parting shot affairs we see today.
But I'm probably wrong and no-sec will remain the chaos it is forever with no purpose other than constant war.

until it gets to a point where multiple alliances have pairs and triples of these things floating around - call em the ultimate choke point control ships
until one side has so many and CCP decide to nerf or look at ways to kill em then the things will stay as they are.

The issue is rates. If you can build 1 Titan, then it actually means you have an alliance with a large enough income that it can fairly easily sustain building Titan's at a particular rate - once the basic infrastructure is acquired (BPOs, cap ship yard) it's not that difficult.
This is more or less the issue with all of EVE, and why the word 'farming' is used - all resources regrow, so all resources are rate based producers of income. I get the feeling when the Titan's were designed they weren't really designed with the idea that people would just build them at a particular rate, because their balancing is very much along the lines of their only being one in any theatre at any one time.
The obvious thing, with this being the case, is to get 2 of them in the same place. This is going to happen sooner, rather then later.

So do titans have a capacator threshold bellow which they cannot warp? And does this limit how often they can warp?
