Dee Vour	Posted - 2007.02.12 14:08:00 - [1] my mates came visiting to check my new uber game: EVE online. they were in awe and within 5 mnts they'd all left and gone to theirs to get a trial account. next day i got a couple of calls from 2 of my buddies. they couldnt believe that the only way to be a black guy was to be a... Brutor. in essence what they actually said to me was: "man... can you believe this c###p?! i'm a brute or nothing... rings a familiar stereotype bell doesnt it?... as if at this very moment europe and america have no black people.... like on TV, we've been eradicated from the future". i couldnt really confirm as all my chars are caucasians. but when i suggested that they chill and address the issue on the forum they told me to stuff that idiotic game where (i'll censure this myself ) after this even my white buddies decided not to join.... can somebody tell me if there are ways to be black in gallente caldari or ammar?

There are more (ALOT MORE) games that has this "issue" its not EVE solely.. Often lack of Skincolors is preventing a racial issue in a game, and imho should also be left outside a game at all. Online we are all the same (digital figures) and no need to bring in Real Life issues in games, placing all kind of Real Life races in a game, can only lead to more Discrimination as to leaving those out.

It seems to me pretty likely that so many thousand years in the future with cultures being isolated there would be very little difference in colour within a culture. Therefore having one black race makes perfect sense to me. Think you need to experiment more in char creation you can change skin tone facial features and all sorts. To see what im talking about have a look at backdoor Bandits pic. Get real. Racism goes both ways. I thought that the whole deal with the black liberal movement, and all that "I have a dream" stuff was to make people stop thinking in terms of race and start thinking in terms of people? There are black people in EvE. They are admittedly a minority, but if this game had a perfect mix of 33% white bloodlines, 33% black and 33% asian, it would be a load of politically correct bull***. And in case your friend didn't notice, the only black bloodline in the game has quite possibly the best stats for combat* (which is by far, the most common activity in EvE), and due to this, very common, and arguably one of the better bloodlines to choose. I have heard of increadibly stupid things in my life. I was quite sure some of them would never be topped in their category. Until this. For the majority of my eight year old MMO life, my skin color has been green. I was not aware this should be a problem for me. Nor do I currently have or have any plans to add metallic blue lines to my face. I do not plan to enter a gooey pod, create a clone of myself, or participate in intergallactic warfare. Clueless Noob

Incidentally, the black bloodline (the only really black bloodline, a lot of other bloodlines, including intaki, can have very dark skin, and a great deal of the bloodlines look mixed, including gallente, sebiestor, vherokior, etc) has near perfect stats for a combat oriented character, and thus are one of the best and most popular bloodlines to choose? OMG CCP IS A BLACK SUPREMASIST RACIST CORP!1!11!111 Again, a great deal of the bloodlines look mixed - Gallente, for one, Intaki can have very dark skin (the females especially for some reason), the Vherokior, Khanid can have very dark skin - I think that this is just a realistic outlook, if anything. 300 thousand years in the future, most of humanity will proabably be a sort of brownish colour, since by then we've mixed sufficently to remove most traces of a "racial" difference. This is already happening in most western countries, if you take a walk down the streets of a french city, you'll see a great deal of black people, and a great deal of white people, but also a LOT of mixed people - which is a great thing in my opinion. Really, the OPs friend needs to loosen up a bit. Five or so generations from now, in real life there will be few black or white people, and a great deal of just people. Racism will be a thing of the past in a few hundred years, because there will be no such thing as race. Sigs are for noobs.

It's the new premise of the melting pot, that one day there will be no races but that someday it will be one combined race. Tell your friends to take a chill pill, look at the game for what it is: a game. Not as a racial issue. Are these the same type of people that get mad when something isnt politically correct, or when a tv show is missing one race? Many, MANY kids today (me for one) dont see race, it's a idea that is blown way out of proportion, only one's self can let the idea of this game show racism.
