Congrats on the new position Arkanon. Can you please also bring some transparency to this process? A little bit of sunlight goes a LONG way towards keeping things clean.

We have a privacy policy to protect not only the player base. It is not our place to disclose to the community that "Player X did Y and received Z as a punishment", and this is why we have not answered the allegations of misconduct on the part of certain players.
It is not an easy stance to take, especially when so many community members have voiced their concerns about it, but put the shoe on the other foot. I do not know of many people who would like to have their mistakes aired in the public eye.
I think players would like to see one of two things: 1) Change the policy, NAME AND SHAME cheaters and out all of their alts. If I am cheating I expect to be publically ridiculed before getting banned. 2) Express these statements EXACTLY like you did above. Never replace X with a name. Just fill in Y and Z. You might need to obsfucate Y a bit. Just expose the process to daylight so that we can see what your are doing.

CCP,
Are there any legal constraints (maybe dealing with Icelandic law) that keeps you from naming and shaming bad characters? Or is it just internal policy?
Is Iceland part of the EU?

Arkanon is very straightforward when it comes to the game: "What is so hard to understand? Just follow the motherf***ing rules!" - a direct quote from the 5 minutes I last spent with him out on the smoker's balcony at CCP a few days ago.
This kind of sobriety is refreshing!
I agree. Just reading this made me feel much better about the future of eve. Some parts of the world do need a dictatorship. This is one of them.

One of the biggest improvements with Arkanon's new post is that he can now call on developer resources to add auditing to a game when he needs more information. So, this means that while the first petition might not result in punishment, the next guy is in for a WORLD of hurt.
To the person posting about Icelandic employment law. Thank you. This is one of the most important bits of info people here need to see. In the US you can just be fired without cause. (not counting union contracts) I think a lot of posters are thinking things work this way in Iceland too. It sounds like Icelandic employment law has a concept of double jeopardy. Now that T20's punishment has been implemented, CCP can't just go add more to the penalty. Heck, losing your 3year old character without any hope of getting free skills is a MAJOR blow to anyone. T20 just became the new voice of the low skilled in CCP. If he is allowed on the servers at all. And you can be sure that Arkanon will have a report just for him. (I still think T20 should be doing constant web upgrades until the site is directly linked to the game DB)
As to the naming and shaming of transgressors. Instead of posting names, how about just monthly stats? Something so that the playing community can see that something is going on.
