Originally by: Akita T Ah, but the answer, she iz zo zimple and bootyful. CCP just *has* to release a handfull of new skills under "Industry" !
1. Rapid Mining (rank 5): Reduces all mining laser cycle time duration by 3% per level Required: Mining Upgrades L5
2. Stripminer specialization (rank 8): Reduces stripminer cycle time by 5% per level Required: Rapid Mining L5
3. Iceminer specialization (rank 10): Reduces iceminer cycle time by 5% per level Required: Ice Mining L5
4-21. <<orename>> crystal specialisation (rank 3,4,5 and 6) : Increases effectiveness of <<orename>> mining crystals multiplier by 5% per level Required: <<orename>> processing L5
There you go... a lifetime of skills ust for you, dear miners !
SIGNED
i've been asking for such skills for ages and the "dedicated" miners 'll have little problem with the skill requirements to lvl 5 is a bit harsh.... atleast for the ore processing skills

believe it or not this has been asked for and asked for over and over again. Still nothing has changed, would be great if a DEV could shed some light on this and the reason why mining isn't getting any loving but a steadily whack of the nerf bat over and over again...

i'ld like to see mining get the loving it deserves, over the 2 years i've been playing the combat orientated professions have given a lot of loving and mining has been repetatly put in the corner with soon (tm) on the top... i'ld love for the devs to prove me wrong and give mining a lot of loving soon (tm)

This really worry's me! Are CCP gonna screw up the mining profession in the name of making it more "fun"?? Mining doesn't need bigger, more interesting belts. Some refinements to make it less annoying would be nice, simple refinements like mining lasers auto-deactivating when the rock is empty, bringing back asteroids to the directional scanner or even just making it so non-Hulks can tank in 0.0
You mean screw up even more? in the last year i've been playing i've seen the roids diminish in size and the respwans of ore going from every day to 2 days a week... if they hide the belts there better be roids in there that need a freighter to move per roid....

i'ld just love to see ccp saying they'll give mining some love, is that too much to ask?

Edited by: Menthal on 19/02/2007 21:01:29 oh and for the people who are interested the "nerfs" for miners (less respawn of ore) were mainly introduced to reduce the lag (which was caused by insta's mainly, which ccp made obsolete recently) and to cut down on the macro miners field of profit, well it has had some effect, not to the macro's however but we, the mining community have suffered great losses because of it

Edited by: Menthal on 19/02/2007 21:30:28 Edited by: Menthal on 19/02/2007 21:28:24 oh come on, every miner and his alt have an extra alt available that can do system scanning, so you're always on the edge of finding those lucrative belts NOT
are we really asking for that much? in comparison with the combat oriented players we only got a fraction of the skills and a fraction of the ships and guess what they get them faster and they get a lot more loving with them...
most of the things that are being asked for have been asked for by miners, myself for one, for over 2 years and more, still ccp has yet to come thro for us lowly miners who keep the economy alive by providing those precious minerals that all things are made of...

thanks for mentioning that: mining bpo's should be a tad better for copying/ getting since it'll otherwise get monopolized greatly
for reference the covy BPO costs 2 Bill the tier 2 bs bpo only costs 1

if i were to go for 5% more to yield (stacks so actually more) or a bigger cargohold i'll go for yield any day, especially since it'll be ore specific, if you're in low sec you'll prolly mine 1 perhaps 2 kinds of ore, in high sec that's 3-5 kinds of ore, what happens then? not enough low slots, more low slots would be great but then the barge couldn't support any decent fitting with its limited cpu and pwg... it's a viscuous circle now ain't it?

i like the idea of more hardpoints on the mining barges, however, if you do you'll also need to increase the numbre of targets being locked to 8 max instead of 6 max
in short: my idea of improving the barges -) either increase the numbre of hardpoints or add a decrease to cycle time per barge/exhumer lvl... make it higher for the tier 1 then for the tier 3 so they 'll have a lot more gain for it for the beginning miners??? -) increase the cragohold by a lot, let's face it the T2 crystals take up 50 m¦ and to make the comparison to the pvp crystals which take up 1 m¦. Why? if you're doing a mining op in high sec and you use T2 crystals you'll need 6 for each ore (3 to use and 3 spare, cause let's face it they do tend to die rather quick) so for 4 ores in highsec you'll need ((6 * 4)- 3) * 50 that's 1050 m¦ for covetor or hulk add to that that you're cargohold is just about enough for 1 cycle... Now an ore specific cargohold i don't like that would be limiting you to mining one ore... altho converting the cargohold so it can decompress the ore and mining crystal so you can hold 10 times more would give the barges a better edge... -) skills to increase the range on the strip miners like 2 km per lvl for the basic skill and 1 km per lvl for the advanced skill? thus increase the range from 15 km to 30 km when maxed thus effectively doubling your range when maxed out and that is something -) a skill to decrease the deteriotating with 10% per lvl so at lvl 5 your crystals will last double as long thus you needing less crystals. -) a skill to decrease the cycle time with 10 sec per lvl for the basic skill and 5 sec per lvl for the adv so that'll give a cycle of 80 secs when maxed (without gang) or a stagering 64,5 secs with perfect gang skills, now it should only apply on barges so that miners in them get an extra edge over miners in let's say rokh's with 4 MLU... -) implementing the ore scanner so that if fit it'll disengage your lasers when a roid is gone... make it barge only fiteable... like the strip miners so that only barge miners 'll benefit from this..
basically this proposal will make the barges more appealing to miners then a cruiser, a bs or a capital ship that were intended for combat and not for mining
my 2 cents
