Hey folks, I'm one of the DJ's on Eve Radio. I run a talk show on the station Tuesdays and Thursdays, and this coming Tuesday I'm planning on using a section of the show to talk about the life of a pirate in Eve.
Why should any of you care? Well on my main I do a bit of piracy from time to time, but I'm pretty small time, and I'm looking for some folks who really make their victims poo their pants to join us on-air as guests for part of the show to talk about their experiences, maybe share an entertaining story or two... and having a real pirate accent would be nifty, but not necesary. I may also ask you to answer a question or two that may get eve-mailed in from listeners during the show.
What I'm not looking for are the guys who blob around laying waste with big numbers. I'm looking for some real hunter killer types.
You'll also need to have skype (skype.com) and a microphone which is how we'll get you on the show right from the comfort of your own computer desk, so if anyone here thinks they fit the bill, please let me know and I'll get in contact with you. Also if people want to reccomend someone I should be looking to talk to (the most famous dread pirate in eve perhaps?) if you could be equally kind and let me know who I should be looking for, I'd appreciate it! Thanks a heap!

Doesn't that Dread Pirate Jesus come around these forums? I'd nominate myself except I have an Indiana accent which is completely not-piratey and I hunt for cheap kills.

evetime you would ask questions?
is say tiller, tencha, joet, kubli, ikivar, verone, ill happily do it but not sure your turnout would be huge.
id make sure my mom recorded it thou
even hou you said no gatecampers alot of piracy happens at gates, with over 7 people its just not that hard tbh

Edited by: DJ FunkyBacon on 18/02/2007 05:07:37 I guess what I mean by no gate campers, is that I'm looking for people with some real skill. Doesn't take much skill when you've got 7 guys locked and loaded preying on the occasional passer by. I'm looking for the people with really big cajones who go out looking for trouble rather than waiting for it to come to them all the time.
Now if I can't find any of those guys (or girls) I'll have to settle for campers, but as long as the stories are good, we can work something out.
As far as turnout, the show is fairly popular, so there will be several hundred people tuned in. I wouldn't worry about not being heard .
EDIT: For eve-time of the actual interviews, we'd be looking at between 17:00 and 18:00 (mid show) |

Funky my lecture will consist of the following topics presented in the following order:
1: Piracy and the EVE economy (basic overveiw) 2: China and ISK farming and the detrimental effects of its policy 3: When is a pirate a pirate? (I will elaborate on the differant types of Privatering) 4: The pirate agenda. (a breif daily report of what a pirate does on a typical day) 5: Noob fishing, A variant of Piracy 6: Q and A time. (will answer all questions from listeners)
End note we can use TS for a dryrun of my lecture format. As said before I can email text so that the audiance can follow along. ty sincerly FHPhantom

Hehe, I may not blob around like that, but I make every isk count. In the last three weeks, I've lost one dominix to a pair of faction fitted pilgrims. I took one down with me though . Since then, I've made 17 kills without a single loss. My targets have been everything including haulers, AFs, cruisers, BCs, and BSes. Most of this damage was done using a 20m isk t1 cruiser, and it has yet to bite the dust.
If anyone knows how to inflict damage without loosing isk, I do.

Hmm. I have a little bunch of pirates that eat everything from haulers to carriers. Belts, missions, gates, you name it. We kill everything we can get scrambled. Our main problem is finding enough people to shoot. Just ask Deathforge lol.
Shoot me an email in game. I interview very well. And I'm definitely a 'real hunter killer type'.

I would be up for it. :)
I don't think you'll get the same experience as you would with verone, tiller, or Shamis (Heck, Shamis was in E-ON). I consider those guys the bigwigs of piracy. Most stories I've seen from them have been blobby, but I don't doubt they have some great experience with skirmish warfare.
I have a few fun stories regarding battleship kills and people ejecting their pods to give me a fresh new ship. Among other fun things.
I don't think I've been in a gatecamp yet. :D
If I had to pick someone I'd be interested in listening to on the radio, it would definitely be Farjung. Uber vindicator pilot of pain. :D (just watch wave of mutilation II at eve files)

Edited by: Hypatia Iola on 18/02/2007 18:01:33 me personally, i think Ginger would actually provide a fun interview, though his stories are likely to be crap, his personality is just golden
so if you want a story where someone was like "I hunted across the seventeen systems stalking the elusive Gaurdian-Vexor with the intent to deprive the owner of a ludicrous amount of ISK. Then, in Messoya, i spotted the blighter! His fearsome 10 drones came out, with me in my trusty Rifter. Things looked bleak, but he wasn't expecting... blah blah lots of really interesting stuff" then Ginger is not a good idea, as his stories tend more towards the "Me and my gang beat the ever living crap out of 500 ships, we're not sure what they all were but at least one managed to really hurt us a little bit" but he really is an entertaining guy.
just can't wait to hear the 13-year old voice *****ing on the air...
or worse yet a 30-year old *shudder*

"REAL PIRATE"?
Far as I'm concerned there are degrees of piracy, just like anything else.
To ME a real pirate is one who tries conclusions with people in 0.0, against people who are organized and can bring out the whupass in numbers. You'll want to talk to one of those.
If someone has 3/4 of his kb being haulers, miners, and n00b ships, meh... he may be a prat, just not hardcore.

Obviously any interview with the top pirate pvp'ers in eve (most of SNOWY are in the top 10) will cost substantial isk.
Nobody as good as we are, as in real life, would offer anything for free.
If this is not the usual arrangment for Eve Radio interviews then I'm afraid you'll have to interview noob carebears instead, which on looking at this thread is what you'll end up with in the main.
Sorry to hurt anyones feelings.

Edited by: DJ FunkyBacon on 22/02/2007 17:18:03 Edited by: DJ FunkyBacon on 22/02/2007 17:17:14 Ok, last bump for this baby since this is the second, and last show in the Pirate Week Series going live at 1900GMT.
We've got a couple people lined up today to talk, but anyone else who is either a pirate (and when I say "real" pirate, by that I mean someone with some experience at it not a complete noob pirate. We have established there are several types of piracy one can commit) or anyone who wants to cry about pirates, I'd like to hear from you.
Once again you will NEED to have skype, and ffs please check your mic settings ahead of time, and make sure your mom doesn't walk into your room screaming at you about something (yes it happened on Tuesday )
Aside from that, send me an eve-mail saying you're available and what your skype name is and hopefully we'll be able to ring you up during the show and see what you have to add to the topic.
On Tuesday our audience was just over 400, and we expect to be a bit bigger today given the later gaming hour. Hope to see you all there.
EDIT: Oh yes, and as those listening on Tuesday are aware, we did touch on the Universal war on LV, had a rep from Burn Eden as well as Goon Fleet give us a progress on the war and their take on it but though someone was in the chat channel whooping it up for LV we were unable to get anyone representing LV on air. Today we'll have another ER DJ, who was involved in the Titan abortion battle on LV's side come on to give a take on the war from that side of it, though if anyone actually from LV wants to get in touch please do, we're not biased and are willing to let both sides give their stories on it.

Just wait till you wind up in a dorm and your dormie damn near breaks the door down, tells you to drop whatever it is you are doing and GTFO of the room cuz he's got a box of trojans and a half drunk hottie on her way up.

First I would like to say thank you to all the guests who came on, and everyone who tuned in to listen. We peaked out on Thursday at 464 listeners.
I have been getting a ton of requests for copies of the shows for both days. Copies do indeed exist, and we are working on making them available. I'll drop something in this forum once we've figured it out, hopefully in no more than a few days.
