From my experience in guild/alliance warfare it matters the most how you are able to deal with defeats. And here is from my experience usually the weakness of a server ruling guild, even if they are superior PvPers individually.
To lead a extrordinary successfull guild you have to sacrifice huge amounts of time, heck you will probably be one of those guys "who have no life". If someone identifies itself too much with a game things get dangerous, they fire back into RL and people might get pretty frustrated when realizing they are beginning to loose and are not used to it. The more you brag about being superior, the more you use more or less legal, but still unfair tricks to outwit your opponents and the more you identify with the game the worse it gets if you still loose.
What is differnt in EVE compared to other games are the huge Corp assets, let's hope the BoB leadership will not deal the same way with its members as it's enemies, but if you are ruthless you are usually, well, ruthless. I am all for rather fair PvP because it's fun and who cares if you loose a fight or two, goddamn it's just a game! Play it to have fun, to relax, to meet friends - but don't build your RL around it.
You might call me a carebear and a whiner if I call for rather clean and fair PvP, but IMHO the ones who profit most are the hardcore PvPers. Well, enough talk, need to get my ship fitted ans skills bought to ... erm ... probably suicide. But at least I will probably have a blast, because this is just a game. Go fair PvP - down with Blizzy-Modem, trains, corpse cam... oops, wrong game
There was that job offer - didn't knew it would turn out as a suicide mission - duh! |

Hmm, maybe you have been missing from eve and the forums for the past 2-3 weeks... or maybe you just read what suits you.
Let me fill you in. CCP admited to BoB having BPO's given to them by a DEV. They kept those BPO's for months. That also constitutes one of the bigest scandals in mmorpg hystory. It is imposible to say how much money they have made from those. For me that is enough proof of "Dev help". Then again maybe CCP admitance is not enough proof for you?

Ad hominem attacks based on my alliance tag and affiliation in 3, 2, 1...
I don't care about your affiliation or alliance tag. I do care that basic logic escapes you. No evidence that BOB has used exploits? There is more than ample documentation available - if you wish to see it. I keep waiting for a BOB announcement refuting all the claims against them - but it never comes. Is this because BOB lacks understanding of public relations? They don't know how to play the game? Or maybe they got caught with it hanging out and just don't have a way to refute it? I think it is the last option.

BoB are still the best fighters in the game, at anything approaching even numbers.
n00bs still think that killing anyone with 5:1 or greater odds is an accomplishment, go Coalition.
Idiots still try to pin entire alliances with things that single players do, both D2's use of out of game personal information and the BoB/Dev issue.
The war, while maybe not one in territory gained or lost, will end with BoB winning. Because at the end, they will know that it took the entire 0.0 population of EvE to kill them and their few allies.
Either way, FIX, ANZAC, BoB, Xelas can look at this, even if they lose, and be proud of it. Something no Coalition force can say, because none of you could even attempt to stand up against BoB on your own.
Xelas/ANZAC fought hard for V7-MID, that was a pain to take. I remember staying up all night organising PoS deployment. I wish you guys the best, and hope you show the same resolve in your new home.
You could say the same thing about the allies in world war 2, I suppose, but it wouldn't make it any less of a lie :) Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes - Devil ([email protected]) |

Unfortunately for LV we won't get bored because it is our ending goal to move you out. People keep mentioning BoB...did you all forget it's really LV's space? Originally by: Nastratu As for calling BoB "masters" and alliances and corps that rent space from them "pets", this is a double standard on behalf of all members of 0.0 alliances. As if other alliances don't rent space. Seriously, get real.
to my understanding, no other alliance in 0.0 prohibits their allies from establishing own sovereignty, and charges them weekly fees on using that space, whilst also subjecting them to a slew of detailed rules, such as outright prohibition of moon mining, obscenely high docking fees and huge refining levies. This is rightly done to finance bob's war machine that offers casual pilots ability to pvp without the inconvenience of grind and morale hits from ship and equipment losses.
Originally by: Nastratu Try putting up a POS in someone else's space and ratting or mining there without asking their permission, their rules, paying them part of your profits and we'll see how long you'll last in their space. It is either that you rent space from them or you become one of them. All these other alliances, D2, RA, -A-, MM give you no other choice but to submit - submit by becoming their member, playing by their rules, or paying them rent.
Again, the difference there is that none of the current 0.0 alliances impose strict rules within their territory, but have neither the logistics abilities nor aspiration to expand their territory across all conquerable borders. Whatever their 'rules' of their land might be, the population at large roughly understands the limits of their scope, and understanding bob's lack thereof sees it as a threat to everyone regardless of their location, size or standing towards others - even their traditional enemies.
Originally by: Nastratu I do understand that the forces that make up the Coalition do not want to submit to BoB but would rather "arrive to that point guns blazing". But I still don't see how is this not simply another power struggle and why BoB is evil and arrogant and everyone against it is good and saviors of EVE.
well, its not about good or evil. its about whether you want to be conquered or not. Everyone knows that they're a potential target to bob's gallactic conquest and the management makes that much apparent. Thereby, looking at how well the others fared, it only makes sense to temporarely put previous differences aside and focus on the matter at hand, which is dealing bob and their allies sufficient damage to curb their expansion.
this is mostly about not wanting to sit with your head in the sand. bob are undeniably adept at holding the field, but there are only so many systems they're capable of holding at any given time. The moment LV ceases to be a) capable of fielding significant capital assets and b) capable of building capital assets on anything of a short notice, the focus switches to bob's eastern front, by which point they will be facing a very grim predicament.

It dosent have to be tight. Its still doing what it set out to do. Ppl leave corps all the time. during wars and otherwise. It dosnt matter if a few ppl leave. what really gets the probelms rolling is when the the pvpers start getting cranky. THEN you know you have issues.

Quote: BoB are still the best fighters in the game, at anything approaching even numbers.
No they arent any better individualists than any other or in small gangs. They skills however are very good in fleets and strategy.
Im on the attacking side, but im gonna try to stay as impartial as i can.
BoB is far from beaten and i find it amusing that so many of you already claim so or think they will shortly. They are experienced and have many able friends in the region.
This is a war of atrittion (bad spelling). The side that can field the biggest numbers and the biggest fleets at given times.
But i want to add, and i will prolly get smacked back and beyond for this. BoBs main concern right now, imo, is that they have to fight on multiple fronts. In addition their allies in LV and MC are under pressure.
It takes a lot of effort to keep jumping cap ships back and forth to the different fronts. And moving the fleet too. That is exhausting to the will to fight for the average member. If they attack D2 in fountain someone else is killing pos's in period basis and vice versa. Worst thing that can happen to BoB right now as far as i see it is if they lose a substansial part of their cap ship fleet.
Can we sustain our losses? Time will tell. Can BoB? Time will tell. It also require alot of effort to keep towers fueled on both sides, in addition to actually get hold of new towers. The logistic work from it + keeping enemy busy. Also i would like to add that the smaller BoB residents also face a lot of ganksquads when fleetfights havent started yet. This break down morale in these ppl. Im not refering to fix and xelas here. But there is alot of other residents that might not have the persistance and loyalty to BoB when **** hits the fan.
We (everybody involved) are currently part of the biggest war in eve history (afaik). Lets not forget that. Enjoy it, grasp it and have fun. Regardless of what side ur on. Things change fast in war.

it seems to me that even if or as ppl are saying lv fall then this would only consolidate bob into a more numerous force.
i can hardly see ex lv going over to ra/goon or some of the other ppl who pushed em out of there areas.
even so it still leaves the fact that if bob/lv do fall that leaves most of eve to ra/goon.
and from my own experiances id rather see these large alliances ra/goon and bob both stick around. and not if one side loses be into a almost universal forced nap as was tried with us in the new drone region.
we said no to being told to nap with almost everybody in the new regions and the next minute were accused of being a staging area for a bob invasion to control the area.
but in truth the allied forces againt us were doing exactly that, we refused to join cos we enjoy the pew pew to much and were removed for a ra/goon friendly force to occupy the area.
i think from experiance that large scale fleet batles and pos wars are boring as heck lag fests and like most ppl prefer 40 or so fleet battles.
still the next 12 months maybe quite interesting as the numbers get reshuffled.
i say all those on the fence should keep swapping over sides depending who's losing till the leaders of these alliances get bored stiff of it and let us go back to more interesting and fun pew pew.
