It would make life a lot simpler if GMT was moved to be synchronised with Eve time.

Ah. Well that lessens my irritation somewhat then. I can reevaluate Eve as just being broken rather than badly administrated. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Thing is, its really easy to synch all your machines to proper time, whether you're on windows or linux. I can only assume that they've closed port 123 for some reason.
Yah, that's what adds to the annoyance for me. I can live with slow clocks if they rely on a cheap mechanical movement but in this day and age and with something like Eve it just seems very lazy and careless of CCP not to be keeping the clock in synch.
Did you even read the dev posts linked to above your post?
Unfortunately I didn't see that until after I'd posted my response. If you look at the times on the posting you'll see that this thread is growing very quickly. You even managed to reply to me in less than a minute. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

One of the devs admitted in another thread that the EVE time is 3 minutes different than it's supposed to be. He also said that they cba to change it because they would need a DT or whatnot for that.

If it was that easy i'm sure it'd be done already, but since its not, maybe its a little more tricky than setting your alarm clock... -----

I've been reading up, and it turns out it's all relative anyway.
Thusly I declare today to be next Friday.

Yes, it is off. It had been a minor annoyance, and I've probably missed skill changes by 3 minutes 4 or 5 times since it's happened, until I found a feature in the latest Evemon under Options|Alerts|Notification Offset, which allows you to have evemon throw up the skill training completed dialog early.
Not really a big deal in the grand scheme, though.
