Hey everyone.
Me and my group of friends went to fanfest this year.
In the days following the event our whole group from all over the world fell ill with flu like symptoms.
One of our Icelandic friends told us some of the CCP staff also fell ill following fanfest.
Did any other fanfest attendees experience similar in the recent days

Yup, the Fanfest death flu got me too... and about 10 other CCPers as far as I've counted.
Pretty brutal, I slept from 18:00 or so yesterday through until 09:00 this morning while trying to recover, with only a short break to do some emergency messaging last night.
For reference, I usually sleep an average of 3-4 hours a night. 
Recovering now though, hope you guys all are too!

A really common malady, when you bring people together from all across the world, who don't normally have contact (groups not having contact).

I got it on Thursday and spent the night with 2 boxes of tissues and a very tempting consideration of making a catheter to skip having to use the toilet every hour. Very prompt symptoms, no early onset, heavy fluid discharge with mild fever symptoms.
No clue what it was, but was glad to sleep it off.
Oh yeah, and my bed mate, sister, had nothing.
Do we have any other females who got sick? |

Yep! One of the downsides of the way our world works is you're all basically sick off each other's native crap that you've gotten used to but other people haven't.
In most cases where you go to a convention in your own country it can suck afterwards, but with FanFest you're talking about people from around the planet, which is why this Concrud is worse than normal Concrud.

GF and I are both sick along with multiple people in my alliance that went. Some weird chest cold thing. Honestly have had this before back in Basic, we called it "The Crud".

You got to experience what we call "Icelandic Deathflu", congrats! 
It's fairly typical to come down with it either during Fanfest, or in the days after the event. Sometimes it will just give you aches, pains, and a fever for a day or two, other times it will drop you on your ass hard for a week or so.

I was under the impression that Biological Warfare was outlawed under the Geneva / Helsinki accords. I have it on good authority that a "certain" alliance will be arriving at Eve Vegas several days in advance to attend the annual Bean Burrito fest in neighboring Reno. They intend to release a noxious, colorless, biological gas during the opening ceremonies. BOLO for red faces, bloated torso, and refusal to make eye contact.
I nominate CCP Fozzie for a mission of this scope and magnitude. Time to nerf / buff the upcoming Eve Vegas event.

If the people meet each other regularly, it tends not to be a problem.
If it's people who see each other once or twice a year, and come from all over the world, it can be bad.
