I'm not really Husari Painen. Claiming that I was was just a way to attack his credibility, a way of striking back against an old evil, sadly on the rise again.
I'm declaring a new crusade, A new right to be fought for, A righteous campaign against the new evil of the CAOD forums.
Posting with your Alt (Corp).
There was an unhappy time in Eve where alt posting was rife, all across the forums, dozens if not hundreds of shiftless agenda-pushing cowards would spend the day posting threads that were at best hugely biased and at worst, downright lies. For every ten sensible players who sensed that the trolling was strong and ignored the thread, a small minority couldn't resist getting dragged down to the op's level and the level of debate on these forums descended to that of an episode of 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'.
But all was not lost, A group of heroes joined together to combat this evil, the Interstellar Services Department (A group who I have tremendous personal respect for), Said 'No More' and under the mighty leadership of ***Name to follow*** banned n00bcorpers from posting and waged a ruthless war to make people put their corp or alliance tags on display.
Forum Idiocy pretty much halved overnight, the world rejoiced and threads began to resemble a meeting of the Oxford Debating Society, Mains throughout the game engaged in thoughtful discussion, mutual respect and banter reminiscent of Oscar Wilde in his heyday.
Sadly, nothing lasts for ever and a growing number of 1-man corps with no obvious stake in the subjects being discussed began to chime in with increasingly deranged posts. (Dunno where they got that idea from). The forums swiftly began to head back towards the bad old days as gutless weasels from all over EVE began to smack hard without having to face the consequences of their forum actions.
Then came the 'Great War' and even seasoned observers of this forum were staggered by the idiocies on display, people on both sides of the conflict did themselves or their cause no favours whatsoever, many neutrals began to shift one way or the other based on how much they began to dislike the smackers, but at least these people stood firmly by their convictions, you might not like what they said, but you knew exactly who was saying it.
This is not the way with the Alt Corpers though, their presence is just as insidious as the original noobcorp smack alts were. I know from experience how little training it takes to get an alt into a one man corp and then take a running jump into the forums, making as big a splash as possible.
So what can be done?
I don't know is the short answer. It's not my place or job to dictate to the forces of moderation how to police their backyard. But what I can do is urge you all to stand up and say no, It's time to resurrect the age old cry of the forums 'Post with your Main!' possibly with an 'or STFU' attached to the end.
Say Post with your Main! to random alt-smack fools.
Say Post with your Main! to supposed 'Independant reporters who consistantly prove themselves anything but indpendant.
And say Post with your Main! to guerrilla leaders of Ghey Rights organisations.
Well, Maybe not the last one.
P.S. I'm aware of the inherant irony of me posting this with my alt-corp, here's some things to think about:
1: The MGRL has an average membership of 15-20 members
2: The MGRL has spent in the region of 350 million isk on wardeclarations
3: The Identity of my main is not exactly a closely held secret, a cursory search of the forums will reveal any number of revelations on the subject.
4: Got a problem with this? Bring it on b*tch, my main's corp will kick your ass.
