I have a researched blueprint for sale, which is worth anything between 1.1b and 1.3b isk and have been trying to sell it in the blueprints channel for a few days.
About 95% of the convo's I recieve from people wishing to buy it are scam attempts.... they do the "private auction sales tax" line and attempt to relieve me of the blueprint so I came up with an idea to teach them a lesson...
following is a chat log from one scammer

This guy was that excited he failed to check the item and just accepted it.
Better luck next time.
Remeber kids, if someone asks to do a private auction to avoid sales tax and say set a low start bid, they are trying to scam you.
Just pretend you havent done contracts before and have them talk you through it. If its a BPO just replace the original with a copy. With items use something of considerably lower value than the starting bid - use your imagination!
If your lucky you relieve them of their isk (which they no doubt scammed from someone else) if not, you wasted their time and make them feel stupid.

Personally, I think the scammer was pretty sport. I'd have pictured a scammer would have a fit.
A good comeback to "Can I have my money back?" would have been "Would you have given me my BPO back?"

oh, and a little sidenote to anyone from CCP reading this topic: do you notice the amount of VERY positive and enthousiastic responses to this topic and the credit this guy is receiving? You could be the ones that receive all that credit for every scammer you take out (read IP ban, scamming by abusing game mechanics should be illegal), the community will be extremely grateful I would guess, just a little tip on further increasing your customer service ;)

notice he was selling a BPO original , then gets convo's with nubblets trying out the tax contract scam he decided to get back at one of the scammers and pulled a switch on the contract scammer thus turning the tables on a scammer not pulling off a scam himself against a honest buyer. please read post before harrassing a guy who is now my hero :P
