What is the deal with that and Gee all the skills you have to µearn to use one why not use miner II
And this new ore that has come up where to find it and what does it hold

because the DCM is the only miner capable of digging up mercoxite(sp?), and because its such a rare and valuable ore (necessary for almost everything tech II) they rightly decided that it should take a good amount of time and effort for someone to be able to do it, instead of just anyone in a cruiser with an hour to burn.

Mining 5 and Astrogeology 5? That's a week's work or so for any professional miner (since they'll already be at Mining 4 or 5 and Astrogeology 4)... not hard at all.
Look at it this way: this is the skill that separates professional miners from part-timers, like Gallente Indy 5 is what separates professional haulers from the rest or Production Efficiency 5 for builders.

Err astrogeology lvl 5 is 20+ days to train for most people.

Modules i can get from NPC, the problem are ships, but as soon as they implement a "board" button and a tractor beam that will end.

you cant get tech 2 stuff at all from anything els then the builders and the miners so you can stay in tech 1 if you want

DCM needs 20+ days in training...Due to astogeology lvl5.
That's a point I agree...
You need special lasers...OK...No problem.
You need special frigate...Nice.
BUT you can't buy it because it's up to players to build them...Nice...So it needs morphite to build them? If so, were you get it? From DCM ?
I hope it's a joke..."Fortunately" I cannot play this week...

what special frigate? a dcm laser only needs 150 cpu, just put it on a cruiser.

no where in the description or the fitting does it say anything bout needing a special frig to use.
I think the frig thing is just a rumor someone started somewhere and people picked up on it

A lot of us people who have been mining a lot have AstroG lvl 5 anyway - so for us, DCM skill is an hour or so.
Catch up with us if you want, or just concentrate on other skills - there are now many more skills, especially for miners and refiners.
Your choice about what skills to train to what lvl - just as our choices might be different.

I managed to get 2 on my Thorax.. 150 cpu required. But I have no idea where to find the new ore. Anyone spotted any? Anyone know if i'm never going to be able to mine it unless I have 3 BS's watching over me in 0.0 space?

I tried that last night, mining Veldspar with the Deep Core Mining Lasers and got Veldspar.
I think the Mercoxide ore is probably somewhere in 0.0 space. So will continue to search for it. Hopefully someone will find it soon and we will be able to get it about the time someone has the tech 2 BPs.

Heh... Good luck with that 0.0 search the pirates can catch you as you jump out of warp because the lock on time is decreased by your ships mass. I found myself locked and gagged just warping to 1 belt with 12 plus cruisers around me and these aren't the old style cruisers. |

well they where 1500 cpu befor.. and needed a tech 2 frigate that mayd the requirments go down by 90% or something

There are two DCM lasers listed in the eve-db
A tech 1 that needs 150cpu and a tech 2 that needs 1500cpu.
The elite mining frigates also have the special ability "90% reduction in cpu use of DCM lasers"
And Astrogeology skill is easy. 18 days including all the prerequisites.
