MW4, Chimera I belive it was.
Had the most ridiculous short-range tackler setup for capture the flag games. Couldn't keep up with the ever irritating paper cougars, of course, but was fast enough to intercept and deliver a single hit that'd knock 'em on their arses, at which point..
Failing that, anything that could fit a good number of Clan LBX's.

I have been playin Mechwarrior for the longest and still play MW4 occasionally. I love the Daishi/Direwolf awesome weapons configuration lot of omni slots on that bad boy. I like to go with the ER LG Lasers PPC's Gauss Rifles all has to be clan of course assortment of LRMs and SSRMS oh can't forget the LBX auto cannon basically a shotgun on steroids  great for getting up close and personal... The Uziel is pretty sweet not bad for urban combat. The Mek Packs clan/innersphere add loads of fun with the mechs that are installed. warhawk/masakri is a good all round mech also. wish they would still support it, I miss playing it online. Curse you Microsoft!!!!!!

MW4:Mercs was fun, esp. the Solaris Championships :)
Fav mechs:
Owen, Uller, Royken, Hellhound, Cauldron-Born, MadCat, Loki, Thor, Masakari.
As for Daishi's not being city brawlers, I used one with 3 LBX 20's and 2 LBX 10's, no speed all armor with good effect. Its basicly a turret that 2 volley's everything, if it survives the first hit. :P

Went by "The Druid" or >>enter clan name here<< followed by "Druid" for many many years in mw3 and mw4.
Fav mech... Mw3.. Strider w/16 Flamers = Mr. Zippo (Fun making mechs go heat level critical, followed by a big huge boom!)
Mw4..Cougar w/ 135kph speed, 2 ER Large Lasers, 1 heat sink, Wet-paper armor (quintessentially anyways). I could rack up so many kills in this thing due 90% purely to a DFA. Also loved my stock Uziel and 6 ER Large Timberwolf (hot, but who cares).

HURRAY! A mechwarrior fan thread! :D
My favorite is a vulture/mad dog ..pretty much using the standard setup. I never played mechwarrior long enough to get into custom fitting my mech.
Plus the vulture is awesome..soften your targets with LRM15's and then let 'em have it with your pulse lasers.

DIRE WOLF or WARHAWK ofcourse cant remember there clan names thats the inner sphere names for them i believe. I've read almost all the books and played most the games. Does anyone know where to buy the cartoon series on dvd. wait DIRE WOLF is DASHI and WARHAWK is Masakari. Omni Assaults Rock

What was that name of the 100tonn mech with the two big sholder cannons pointing forward? looked like the very big brother of the Uziel and was in mechcommander2...I think it came with a fan made addon for merc. Looked so though and powerful 
Other than that i dont rmember any particular mech that stodd out, liked most of them. I remember using a fast novacat full of xsmall lasers was nasty when i came in range. Think about a few gauss and PPCs with a very short rof(and range)
But still, for some reason i liked Earthsiege 2 more

EDIT: Wonder how much in terms of new ideas, features and the like is needed for someone to make a another sequel 
The name of the mech your thinking of was the "Blood Asp", designed by Clan Star Adder, truly gorgeous looking mech, and a real damage dealer with them heavy lasers

I have seen the battletech cartoon series on youtube.com just type in battletech it should come up. BTW Awesome cartoon wish they would have made more episodes
