The game is missing a ship in between BS and Motherships, why not a Command Battleship?
How can we seriously propose the idea to CCP?

incorrect, Carriers, dreadnaughts, some would say Hacs and command ships.

We have fleet command ships with the T2 Battlecruisers, adding T2 Command Battleships would make them obsolete in their role.

I am not sure to understand why it would make them obsolete.
Remember that mission lvl 5 and 6 maybe even 7 are coming this summer. These missions will be harder but dreadnought and carrier do not jump by themselves if I am correct so it is a pain to go places. We need more powerful ships than BS right in between.

we dont need command ships (BS size enyways) but we need BS size logistic ships :)
hard to fit large remo reps on a logi cruiser :( and carriers allredy fit capital size...

I would like to see a BS that can fit a short range version of a jump drive. Even if it would lose 1v1 versus a normal BS, I think they'd see HUGE use, and not be the OMGWTFPWN ship everyone is afraid of.

hmm....of course, they'd be sort of useless in high-sec...being that you can't make cynos and all...

the problem with T2 battleships is they would compete with Cap ships.
I think T2 Bs's can not be released until T2 Cap ship gear is released. 1 should be a Bs sized logistics ship. I think we need something different rather then just make a bigger version of HACs and Command I was thinking making a BS designed to defend POSs(say fewer guns but can synch with POS shield to shoot from with in it)., and another one designed to attack POS's(maybe a mini dread)

Not everything revolves around the mission runner you know. Too much of a pain to jump your dread in? Tough luck matey. T2 BS of the kind you are suggesting would end up being solo pwn mobiles, and going off current T2 prices you'd end up paying in excess of 2 bil for one. Well, the problem is that it is nearly impossible to do the most difficult lvl 4 solo. Unless some of you want to give me some tips.
And since new lvl's are coming, I was thinking about a more efficient gunner and tanker than a T2 BC.

Purple domi... <3
Anyways, think the one was a roden domi, so... the domi would be totally ... ... um
Dunno the word... but judging from other roden ships, namely the ares and eris "enyo, occator, lachesis are fine) it may be a bit bleh having a missile spewing drone boat wannabe, it'd suck with drones and be hindered from the split... Though it'd be interesting.
Though this is purely a random speculation while having had no sleep yet... so I have no idea what I'm talking about, other than a purple domi would be pretty.

I had a similar idea some ago, maybe a ship dedicated to fleet commanders that enables him to see exactly where his gangmembers are in space and gives move/attack/support orders to the wings/squads. Maybe the abillity to apply gang bonuses (mods) over an entire constellation/region. _____________________________________________________

It is not impossible to solo L4 missions. You just need to have the right skills, tank the right damage, do the right damage, and choose your targets wisely. Its not that hard to do with a little preparation and for thought. -------------------------------- As a Freelancer...scratch that Originally by: Shar Tegral Stop projecting your out of game beliefs of what society should be upon the rest of us.

Yes, that is kind of true but it is boring to just refit everytime. I want a ship that pretty much does everything anytime...
And for the rest, T2 Battleships are not such a bad idea, they would not be that powerful. I am not asking for some impossible ship to be destroyed, only something that a solo player can use.
Yes, being with my corp is fun also but we are 170,000 people in Eve and too much is given to corps.

BS with no turret or missile slots, bonus to transfers of all kinds and gang mods plus a mini jump drive. That would be nice, I wouldn't want just a more powerful BS. ------

What is wrong with that?
2-3+ frigs can take down a cruise ship, 2-3+ cruise ships can take down a battleship, but it will take 10+ very well killed BS to take down a well equiped carrier.

So you want 1 ship, that can tank all damage types, doesn't require having the right skills, and doesn't require plaining or thought to use?
What exactly would be the point of playing if said ship where in game. Sounds to me like someone lost a BS in a mission because they, didn't have the right skills, tank the right damage, do the right damage, or choose their targets wisely.

Edited by: Neuromandis on 26/02/2007 16:41:25 The problem with a T2 battleship is this:
At the moment you have Regular ships----Capital ships
Capital ships have a role-defined balance of their own, and they do not directly compete with "regular" ships in role, behavior or balance of power. They are taken down by gangs, are impossible to use solo because of jumpgates, can fight without entering the battlefield and all that. They can afford to have a "top of the foodchain" guy because they DON'T play solo at all and even then he has a role of its own.
Regular ships are balanced in such a way that the "top of the foodchain" is not held by a single ship. HAC's, Recons, Command ships, Battleships collectively have that "title", as no one of these can claim "stronger" than the other, although sometimes Command ships and Battleships pull a bit ahead. There is (should be?) no single ship in the game that should ALWAYS require a gang or itself to defeat. A common Mega should fall to a well-fitted raven and vice versa. A Sleipnir might take down an Armageddon, a Curse could kill a Muninn and so on, and all these supposedly vice versa (Completely Random examples, meaning there is a balance of power there). Who could kill a Tech 2 megathron?? A Tech 2 Rokh? A Tech 2 abaddon?
A Tech 2 battleship would immediately be placed at the TOP of the food chain of regular ships, with a GREAT difference to the next "competitor". Simply said, HAC's and Command ships would be obsolete in the way that you would have a ships that is clearly *stronger* to them. That would not really be a problem, if there were MORE ships that could share the place. Maybe when you have Tech 3 cruisers and Battlecruisers would be the time to release Tech 2 battleships, so that they can still collectively hold the top of the foodchain.
The only way to surpass that currently would to remove the "battle" part from the word "battleship", making them uber-logistic ships of some sort. But even then they should be gimped some way, because T2 resists at a Battleship hull = very, Very, VERY unbalanced thing even if you cannot put a single gun on the bugger.

No, you do not understand me.
First of all the only time I lost a BS was when I was trapped in a low and that was a while ago.
Second, T2 BS already exist, they are called navy issue so I really do not understand what the heck you people are talking about by saying it would be too powerful and stuff like that.
Third of all, I was only asking for those navy and faction issue battleship to be a bit more affordable like in the 600 million isk range instead of 1 billion and be just a bit more available to members with the right skills.
So why are you all so negative about something that already exists but not enough?
The point of a forum is to build something out of it and get somewhere not just talk BS because you are scared pirates...

I want to thank you for your great post which is very constructive compared to all the others.
Yes, I agree with you, it is not fair to have a very strong ship but at the same time, a well fitted BS using some of the best faction modules will be nearly impossible to destroy on a 1 on 1. Is that fair, that players with lot's of money have so much power?
I believe T3 modules will be out sometime this year but from what I read T3 cruisers and BC are not planned.

Faction /= T2
Don't want to refit because its boring? Give me a break. Shooting hordes or poorly programmed NPC ships is more exciting to you? The new 5+ missions arent supposed to be soloed.

It's already been said that the requirements to get a faction ship/gear isn't going to be changed because they are meant to be a status symbol, not the new T1.

You are right faction is not equal to T2 but I still believe something is missing in between BS and carrier/dreadnought.
We should have a vote on it on at least 10,000 members out of the 170,000
