Its funny i would say the opposite about SC over micromanagement. Im finding that the more i play the game and the more i learn about it, the less i have to do. Now (for example) i can get a 200 unit T1 army with 10 mins easily through using reacuring build lists and assisting factories.
I think my biggest piece of advice is to never waste resources, you should always be either -mass/energy or + but not wasting much, secondarily within 20mins into the game you should probably have 7-10 factories of different kinds all constantly producing. Oh and as far as using transports go you can sort that out by setting the factories waypoint to the final destination, then just getting the transport to assist the factory. The transport will ferry the units automatically.

Supreme commander brings back strategy to the RTS genre. And it's awesome. haven't tried CnC yet, but will soon. Will play both, but SC for the awesomenes of the gameplay. And completely automating all your factorys and transports etc. into a lean mean fighting force is just soo much damn fun. Only problem with the game is the fact that it's system requirements are well... far beyond my current comp. Atleast to run a decent map size game.
CnC is more about the storyline, and nostalgy, it's EA so doubt it will bring anything new. But what can beat Kane, Mammoth tanks and FMV????

C&C is pretty cookie cutter, brings nothing new to the table. Not to mention you need a freakin army of units to take out even a small outpost due to how fast and easy it is to build buildings. I havent tried SC yet, but i would pick any dawn of war game over C&C 3 any day. ______________

SupCom is great and I'm enjoying every moment of it.
I've also played the CnC demo and yes it does not add alot to RTS's but that is what most CnC fans want!
Ea are doing what they do best (well ok second best) giving the people what they want.
Core CnC Game play and FMV.

Its true what Chris Taylor says about RTS games the first thing you do is try to zoom out. I tried with C&C3 last night frantically rolling back on the wheel drove my POV to the dizzying hieght of several metres above ground. Whoa!
C&C Has always been an enjoyable game for me even Generals. I played through and completed it in a few days. However thats were i left it. TA and im sure SupCom are and were different in that respect.
People have been complaining about how micro management intensive SupCom is?!?! I dont understand that it is no different that TA. Infact it is made considerably easier for you than TA was. If you want micro management heavy play CoH. I couldnt be arsed with that game having to pretty much individually control each troop selecting abilities etc.
Good game im sure but i shouldnt have to strain myself to play. Ive personally never felt that way with SupCom.
So yeah C&C3 will be good for a quick play until completion but SupCom will last me much much longer.

Supreme Commander..
8000 units max.. 8 players.. on an 81km2 map..
omg wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
At the moment however.. my PC struggles with 1000 units and 2 players ;) A game I'll most likely have to wait for an upgrade before I can appreciate it fully.

C&C 3 is just Generals put into a Tiberium setting with another graphical update of the old generals engine.
Getting sick of all the games using the generals engine being a pain to start a lan game in. You'd think they would have fixed the by now?
Supreme Commander on the other hand is REAL warfare. No sitting around waiting for units to be build. Order queuing (finally!) , Automatic airial transporting, The Ultimate Zoom, Huge maps.
Best thing : if the games do drag on you don't just build "the superweapon" and end the game. Theres so many ways to kill your opponent : Subcommanders, nukes, experimental units, huge amount of tech 3 bots, artillery (mobile and stationairy).
Bah C&C 3 might have the best singleplayer storyline but i'm damn sure supreme commander has the best multiplayer
