I was randomly browsing through the item database today and decided to look up what it would take to make a Hulk exhumer. I soon came to the realization that it only requires a handful of skills that will take me a couple days, and a fairly small amount of components that aren't even expensive. I have the covetor to build one with so why exactly would it cost 600mil ISK for a hulk when they don't even come close to requiring that much in materials. Do you have to go through a special type of manufacturing because it's tech II or am I missing something else?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

In most sensationalist terms, it's because of the "cartel." In reality, simply because you cannot invent on Coveter blueprints and those that own Hulk blueprints aren't going to sell them for less than they are as long as people are willing to pay as much as they are.

I realise that the Hulk blueprint itself would be rather expensive, but in theory, if I had even a BPC of the Hulk and I got the components listed and the covetor, I could in fact make a Hulk from it, yes?

Some things in life make me mad... Market monopolizing is one of them. I just did the math on the parts to make a Hulk and it's only about 40 million ISK. Now the average price I've seen on these is about 600 million ISK... that's 15 times more than what it's worth. I think this is one of those situations where they need to seed some more BPO for this or something. It's probably one of the worst cases of a monopoly I've seen so far.

More BPOs most likely won't lower the public price on Hulks. It will lower the cost for members of the alliances that gets the BPOs and it will bring more money to the other holders of Hulk BPOs who will buy any owned by smaller entities in order to continue their monopoly. That's what's great about EVE.

Aha... THAT is why I cant get a BPC.. Bunch of lying bstds... I want a 5 run BPC to take to 0.0... would be a lot cheaper than trying to take an actual Hulk 50 jumps into lowsec... have been fighting for WEEKS trying to find one, and all I get is that no one will make a copy because its faster to make the Hulk than the copy... I was getting VERY frustrated with the pure stupidity of that answer... It is Nice to know the truth, and Now that I know it... If ANY of the people who have bpo's I spoke with had explained that to me, I would have bought my Hulks from them... Hell with them all now, I'll use a Covetor.

At current market prices, a 1 run BPC of a hulk would run like 1.2 billion ISK. Copy takes longer than a manufacture, so why do it if you make less profit?

This is what carriers are for. You can fit 2 fully assembled Hulks or an awful lot of packaged ones inside a carrier and have them moved safely and quickly. Just find someone in your corp who can fly one and arrange a courier contract.

You cannot invent Hulk BPCs. It is a known bug and devs said that it will be fixed ... eventually. Just so you know there is an invention tab on BS BPCs too ... good luck inventing a T2 Domi

Someone hit upon why you can't buy a Hulk BPC, or rather, why you would not want to.
It takes 2x as long to make one copy of a hulk BPO than it does to build one. So, it's not that people won't copy them, it's that no one in their right mind is going to spend 2x the price of the hulk just so they can build it themselves. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT & [QTC] Industries |

they need to link exumers and barges, you can see they are the same ship just waiting for them to link the two infos could be a long while, once they do hulk could drop in price as fast as t2 cap rechargers.

The hulk can not be invented using a covetor bpc. *Known Issues* when it will be fixed ...long time i guess

If CCP gave me a hulk bpo tomorrow.
I'd sell the BPC's for the split cost between ACTUAL COST, and RETAIL VALUE. Because I'm not an idiot who would sell for 20-30mil hahah.
590-40=550/2= 275million. Full price of hulk with BPC 315, without 590 (at least for my region)

Except that if it takes twice as long to build, you need to recoup the profit of 2 Hulks for each run, so a 1 run BPC would be 2 * 550 = 1.1B.

Even if CCP did seed more BPO's, those who gain them, would probably build and sell hulks for 600mil also. Because if everyone else is doing it, they obviously can get away with it. I mean, who doesn't want that huge of a margin? If someone actually did sell Hulk's for a reasonable price, they'd get bought up by trader's or anyone half smart and resold for 600mil again.
I hate how CCP just kinda says there working on it, while these huge I-Win buttons are chilling in peoples hand generating more cash then isk farmer's.
It's just ungodly how much profit there is in t2, thankfully from what I've read it looks like when CCP fix Invention it will actually fix this whole hell of a t2 system.
If any t2 producer whines about it, I'll slap them with a fish. A frozen one. That smells really bad. And is very slimy. And it says "BLAM!" everytime it hits you. And it makes you have explosive diarrhea instantly. Signature removed, please resize it to meet the 24000 bytes maxium rule. Yours is currently 58244 bytes. -Ivan K |

Yeah, But I'd be making money for 1/20th the effort. No hauling, no buy orders. Copy -> instant cash.
I Think the T2 Market would have been fixed if they had just make it faster to copy a blueprint than manufacture ;)

Why would you pay 600 million for a Hulk now, though? Go buy a max-run Covetor BPC, that's only a few million. You'll need some datacores, but they're going to be massively easier to get after Tuesday, so either roll your own or buy 'em once the price gets cheap. Pick up a decryptor. Put together a ship data interface. (Yeah, this ain't cheap. But it ain't 600 million isk!) Mix, poof! You have your very own Hulk BPC. It probably has some negative ME on it, so your cost might be 60-80 million in minerals instead of 40 million. Congratulations, for less than the retail price of a Hulk, you have gotten yourself established in inventing, plus you have your Hulk. Not only that, but you still have more runs on your BPC, so you can build MORE Hulks. And even then, you already own the ship interface, so making more Hulk BPCs is pretty cheap. Wow! Now you're a Hulk builder!
Basically, the equilibrium price is going to be reduced to something in the vicinity of the price of invention of the Hulk; if it costs more to buy a Hulk than to go invent one, who's going to buy it? (More to the point, the people who can fly Hulks are usually going to at least know SOMEONE with the necessary skills involved. It's not like every guy in the corp will need his own data interface...)
That said, it'll take some time to get down there, because the patch is going to change a few prices. Datacores will get cheaper, but not instantly, because even though they cost fewer RP and you can get them much faster, most people aren't going to "cash in" until the end of the T2 BPO lotto. I expect the cost of max-run Covetor BPCs to increase somewhat, though compared to the cost of a Hulk, that ain't too much. Decryptors... well, they'll be in more demand with more invention, so they'll go up in price somewhat too. All that said, though, none of these prices are going to go up enough to maintain a 1000% profit margin on the Hulk! ;p

Ah you mean this patch note :
*The Hulk is now listed as a variant for T1 mining barges and can be invented as a result.
Well i doubt it will be that easy ,if it will be the markt will be flooded whit Hulk's ...on that i say Amen lol ,but i prefer to see it before i believe on that...

Expect prices to drop A LOT.. Granted, you first need to have a covetor BPO to make BPC's from.
I expect to see Hulks for less than 200 mil and possibly cheaper in the very near future.
